@Jabo: This video was super helpful !! Like Chuck S said previously, we were on a REALLY long road trip across country (nearly 6K miles) in our 2014 Durango on July 4th on a Saturday when the pump went bad in no where Oklahoma. Luckily we were able to limp to a La Quinta Inn right next door to an Advance Auto and with this video get the tools and parts needed (I was shocked Advanced Auto actually had the water pump) and replace it in the La Quinta parking lot !! Really nice job on the vid. Walks you through everything. Well done !

Good Video, however what are the Torques to mount bolts please per Dodge Tech Data, what is the lubricant call out for the packing on the return line as packings are susceptible to lubricants that are not approved (engine oil could degrade the packing). What is the silicone call out per Dodge Tech Data if called out at all, I too would seal it given the failure point of the pump gaskets. I would warn folks to avoid a Razer Blade when removing the excess debris from the block, if you scare the interface you just created your next leak. Once more, Torques, Lube, silicone, and non-metallic scraper.

I got a 2016 rat dodge Durango I have problems with temperature fluctuations when I’m on traffic for 10-15 minutes and I have changed the thermostat the temperature sensor and burped the coolant system
I have no leaks and I think I don’t have blown head gaskets because the coolant is stable and car pulls and starts perfect
Please any advice would be appreciated
    Thank you

The A/C MAX and Heat to full hot has some logic. This fills the heater core and also reduces air pockets during coolant re service.

  • @nathanrodes583

Great video! Made it super easy. I replaced the thermostat and temp sensor as well since they’re all attached and I’m running cool now… about 1/4 over the 1/4 marker. Any ideas why the temp is not coming up to the half way point? The engine is running smooth. Everything feels normal.

You prob bought a colder 180f thermostat instead of factory temperature thermostat. Factory temp is 203f

What is the red clip for? Is that a t-stat sensor or something?
Changed my water pump. Line went up to the 3rd from top red line...¾ up the gauge so I shut it off.
Has pressure in top hose as well. Any ideas?
Edit: never mind. It opened up and the heat came on. Pressure went down. Test drive went well.
    Thanks man

  • @stephencannon3140

Step 1 of water pump removal for Durangoa d any car for that matter......
First step is DO NOT use Pep Boys.....for anything especially cooling system work.
Two water Pumps, fan clutch, thermostat and radiator replacement later. Finally fixed.
Note: Radiator was the correct diagnosis and was $900 plus about $250 for a weekly rental and trip from Toledo-Minneapolis-Toledo plus the ancillary charges.
The failure I get....2003 almost 120K miles at this time so not unusual failure. Radiator failure was internal blockage basically caused a internal explosion but minimal leakage. Dealer tech noticed it during visual inspection before even going to check the fan clutch and water pump. Dropped off overnight for AM inspection and dealer called about 10-5 minutes after inspection and showed me the damage. Radiator NIS so obviously a delay in parts but made the estimate of return to service. At that point even if it was ready early I couldn’t pick up until my next days off.

Is it me or does it look like there is more room in the engine compartment than I was originally thinking....even with the HEMI?
This the procedure would be close to or the same for the Charged/Challenger/300 with similar MY and still HEMI?

My 2012 Durango Citadel (5.7) has approached 160,000 miles and parts are starting to wear out. I’ve replaced the water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, radiator already (last year in 2019). This year I’ve replaced both front struts, upper control arms, sway bar linkage. And now my rack and pinion needs to replaced along with 2 lower control arms and I have an engine oil pan gasket leak. What’s next🤷‍♂️. Like they say “cheaper to keep her” but come on. 😞
