I had made my own oil pan going off the b2a one. I also didn't account for the 1/4 thickness. I could have used 3/16 plate when I made it also but wasn't going to make a huge difference. I was going to either mill down my mount or mill down half off the mount and recess the holes in the pan plate/flange. I feel your frustration.
