I’m going off the juice. For the month of October I’m taking a break from social media. With less distractions I’m planning to commit more time to creating things, reading & maybe even sitting still. I don’t think social media is inherently evil but it’s very easy to get swept up in comparing yourself to others & it often distractions me from the work I find most valuable. To be clear: I’ll still be posting a bit on each platform but these will be pushed through 3rd party apps so I won’t ever have to log in. RUclips is critical for me to make videos, pull clips & research so I will continue to use it. That said I will greatly reduce my time spent on RUclips for the next 30 days. This is the perfect opportunity to call me an asshole in the comments without hurting my feelings 😂😂
Leonardo lol i don’t have instagram facebook snapchat i don’t have those i have twitter but never use it and i have WhatsApp only for personal friends which i don’t use that much my friend say downloud instagram but i always tell them i forgot but youtube danmit its so hard quiting that
Mike Stevenson I needed to hear this. I’m addicted to instagram. Don’t know why. I’m always using it even now that I deleted it I still get it to just post about my whereabouts. If I’m traveling I will post. I don’t even want to I don’t know what to do.
To be honest, I do not agree. I think that limiting my time on my phone is crucial for me and my mental health, but I found so much comfort and inspiration through certain people on Instagram for example which helped me a lot. I don’t think I would have come into deeper contact with minimalism or body positivity etc etc. Without instagram in my case. I am not saying that deleting the accounts is wrong, I am just saying that this might not be everyone’s approach :)
@@hotfrozenpasta6932 Sure.It really depends on how u use it.If it 90% of the time inspires u,makes u feel good and happy ,than there's no need to delete it.Although majority of people are addicted to it in a bad way,but they're not even aware...was one myself.Deleting Instagram was best desicion I made .It was kind of an accident, but after actually deleting it I felt free, happier...I didn't even realize how bad it was until it dissapeared from my home screen.
Same here! My issue is that I need parts of RUclips for my job so I cannot just block the site or something. I feel like my time spent on RUclips increased with every social media app I deleted and left. I'll try Matt's detox with RUclips starting tomorrow (there's a joke somewhere in that :D) and see if it helps.
I use the app Digital detox for the evenings...but daytime phone usage is unhealthy There was a time where I didn't use any electronic for 6-8 months...it was bliss...I've never felt as connected to myself and reality as then. It was heaven on earth quite literally.
Getting rid of social media made me feel uncomfortable at first. You feel disconnected from people but all you're missing is people just talking online. Honestly, getting rid of Facebook and all other social media platforms was the best decision I ever made!
I deleted all social media & took a year off in 2017. Felt like I was living under a rock. Only a few (like literally 3) friends congratulated me when I had my baby. My friend sent me snapshots of my other “friends” congratulating me on fb when she made a post about the birth. I obviously wasn’t on fb, how hard was it to text me? Obviously not true friends, or super lazy friends haha. I got social media back spring 2018 & am itching to take another break for 2019. Now I’ll know what to expect. You realize you hardly have any friends, your phone becomes super boring & you think a lot about wether you’re lonelier with social media or without it. Or I’ll delete social media off my phone & only check once a week on my laptop. Idk. We’ll see. I guess I should mention, I’m a stay at home mom to 3 kids 3 & under. If I worked being off social media would be so much easier, I would have legit adult conversations on a daily basis lol. Do the 30 day detox though. And if you hear a friend had a baby/graduated/ was promoted/got married etc etc call or at least text them for Pete’s sake!
Thank you so much for sharing. It’s nothing less than serendipitous that I landed on this video because my soul and mind needs it. I’m addicted to the point where it’s instinctual that my hand will grab my phone and swipe during any down time I may have during my day. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m going to take the plunge and do the detox.
Just uninstalled Instagram. I know Reddit and RUclips count as social media, but I do so much learning there I don't really want to quit those. But, uh, I can stop whenever I want to
Mmlemonade I use it a lot for news too! I probably should unsubscribe from r/askreddit though. I spend way too much time reading random popular comments there 😅
Well, I stopped using social media last September 1, 2018, and life has been way better for me. With less knowledge of what is going on outside, it was easier for me not to get bothered. I became more focused on the things I do and I also had more time for myself and for the important people for me. Of course this isn’t recommended for everyone because social media could be our only way to connect to our friends from far away but trying to completely remove myself from the digital world gave me the ability to work on myself more and be more productive in my academics. I’m 17 and I believe this is a good thing. We should all try to lean away from the digital world because it doesn’t help us that much. I came up across a study that showed that Social Media is one of the top causes of Mental Health Disorders and it is something everyone should look closer.
You got me completely stomped here... Most, no, ALL 17 year olds I know can't be pried off social media with a prybar. Their phones seem glued to their hands. Their attention span similar to a goldfish... That's really impressive! And you know what? If you can keep this up, it may even give you a real competitive edge when applying for a job later on. Cudos!
I'm 17 too and yesterday was the second time this year I deleted all social media apps from my phone - this time round I'm deleting RUclips too because it's a real distraction to me 😁
I’m glad that people my age are deleting social media😂 Whenever I look up I see people glued to their phones and it’s something that makes me a bit sad. I deleted my social media a few months ago and it has really helped me to start reading again.
(this is long, so if you don’t wanna read a full on essay, keep scrolling but this is my experience with this detox) I saw this video and I jumped right in. I decided the same day that I was gonna delete all my socials (except for RUclips of course) and I honestly think it was the best decision of my life. I’ve been addicted to social media ever since the 4th grade. I’m 14, almost 15 now. I had no idea that I was actually getting myself into a serious addiction. I’ve completed this social media detox and I can say that I feel happier. I can’t believe I let myself get sucked into this other world of “perfection.” watching this video, I had realized that people only post about the good and interesting things that happen. that’s what made it look like everyone’s lives were nothing but perfect. but that’s okay, why would you post the negative things? on social media we choose what to post and what we want everyone to see. we want people to see the good and happy side of us obviously. I quit social media because I felt depressed. I kept comparing myself to others and it gotten so extreme that I would even take a picture of myself and start criticizing my own body. it wasn’t one of those selfies that I took and thought it was ugly. it was constantly happening all the time, and when I say constantly, i mean CONSTANTLY. I would point out all the flaws that I have in pictures, mirrors, reflections, anything I could see my myself in. every time I looked into the mirror, I got upset. I was constantly worrying about my appearance and wonder how people viewed me. to those who are close to me, they know that I would ask questions like “isn’t it crazy that everyone views you differently?” you only know your true self and this is what truly speaks to me. people can say whatever about me, and yes, I would still feel hurt but at the end of the day, that person doesn’t know me at all. it took me so long to realize that they’re just WORDS. it’s your choice to decide whether it upsets you or not. I wasn’t happy with how I looked, but I’m slightly starting to accept my body. I even started working out and taking care of myself. I cannot stress enough on how helpful this social media cleanse was to me and how it changed my perspective on everything. one of the apps I was most addicted to was Instagram. I remember how I would always refresh the page waiting for that red heart icon to show up. whenever people called me beautiful, I never believe it. looking back, I feel so pathetic. I can’t believe I let a certain amount of likes determine my value. after 30 days, I finally went back on Instagram and the first thing I did was scroll through people’s pages and start comparing myself. I even caught me in the act. whenever I told people that I quit social media they asked me why. I never said the real reason though because I was scared people would view me as insecure, but I was. my answer to that question would be “idk I just feel like it”, or something along those lines. but in reality, it made me question my value. it really hit me hard after I officially deleted the apps. I had no idea if I could even last because I was so addicted, but here I am one month later, happier than ever. thank you so much for this video matt, it has helped me so much.
Hi! 2 years late, but I got to say that you sound really wise for you’re age. It’s not very common in your age to realise something like that, even tho It’s really normal to get self-esteem problems from social media. You will be so thankful for yourself to not letting social media took control of your whole teenage years when you get older. I’m 20 and I think I have the same kind of thing going on. Realising how much I use my time only on my phone watching other people being beautiful and doing cool stuff and at the time I feel inspired by them, but in long term it only makes me insecure about myself. I guess it’s time for detox month. Thank you a lot for sharing your thoughts, hopefully you are still feeling better!🙏🏼
Mr Vegan and that’s okay! RUclips is not a social media that I consider. In my opinion it’s more of a tv. There is more content and intent and I learn more through RUclips. To each to their own
@@ParachuteRoses Still a source of addiction. We get the likes, comments and obsession over new videos. It is just as bad as any major social media platforms.
RUclips has proven to be the only source of social media that CAN be beneficial to you. As long as you explore the learning and postive side of RUclips, like this video.
it is Yes. Though you may only be familiar with RUclips as a place to watch funny videos of laughing babies and puppies, RUclips has firmly established itself as a social media website.
Desandro Oliveira lol, you realise people lived before without phones, there’s a plethora of things to do in life, you can read listen to music watch a film go to the gym go out, hang with friends, etc etc
Thanks so much for this! I did 30 days. I got so much done. Read 3 books, focused on my gardening, and taught myself to keyboard. I felt at peace and my confidence increased
Quit instagram and snapchat 3 months ago at the age of 22. Last week uninstalled the facebook app from my phone. Baby steps but making progress. Definitely intrigued when my girlfriend is browsing insta/snapchat but im glad it doesn't consume my life anymore. Authentic conversations with your small friend circle and connections in real life definitely better than friend requests and likes. Increased productivity and happiness are a by-product (especially when im not comparing myself to others all the time). Good luck on your detox journey everyone- its worth it!
Year YT and Ig is hard to stop. Did you give the social media detox a try? It's really good to reclaim again. I also gave it a try and made a video as well.
Today is my first day for my social media detox (I’m using RUclips to watch personal development videos) I found that I’m itching for people approval and it’s taking over my life. I am looking forward to connecting myself. I have found that on social media I’m so consumed supporting other people that I’ve been forgetting myself. Thank you for sharing this ❤️
I’ve been off social media for two weeks now (except for RUclips) and RUclips recommended this video to me. It’s really hard because you feel like you’re the only one on earth who isn’t up to date with what’s going on, But this video was just the encourage I needed to not give in. Thank you for sharing ☺️ (subscribed)
This is actually my last week of a month long social media detox! I kept youtube because I’m an artist and i pull up a lot of tutorials. But i removed all the apps that drained my focus and impacted my emotional well being. After a while I realized i really didnt miss social media. It was a waste of my time. I found much better ways to fill my time. I started reading again, playing music, hanging out with friends. I’m a Gen Z kid so I basically grew up with these apps. I don’t remember life without them. But its crazy to see what life is like when I actually started living it instead of living vicariously through Instagram or Twitter. Its insane. I really hope people try this!
Hi, Matt! 1. I already quit fb for years 2. I just delete all my ig feed and today i just start to play #30days minimalism game 3. Today i start all over my habit, and right before i write my journal before sleep i see this notif from youtube. So, i'm in Matt! See you after 30 days ☺😁
@@Luna-zs3ie tips that I wana give you is start reading books. Every time you crave for social media pick your favorite books and read a chapter or pages whatever is ok with you. It really helps a lot.

I'll finish mine in 2 days. Probably one of the best desicions i've made in my life.
@@Luna-zs3ie buddy ya youtube is a social media app but it's a learning app. I personally felt fb, insta and are not helping me to grow so I stopped using it. RUclips is helping me to be a better version of myself. So I do use YT, I don't watch anything on RUclips just for time pass. I only use it for learning
The experience of logging off of social media for the month of October opened my eyes to how I use my time and how I use it to fill what I see as small gaps in my day. It forced me to sit a lot of times not doing anything, which didn't feel like rest until the middle of the month. I know I need more time to begin to feel the freedom people say they feel when they log off. I actually felt disconnected from my friends and the world. I am thankful for the experience because it forced me to stop and think about other things I could do instead taking the easy approach to scrolling through social media throughout the day.
I'm on day 7 on this social media detox. To be honest, I started it before watching this vid. I found this video while willingly typing "social network detox" to see someone to relate to haha. I made my decision mainly cause I broke up with some guy and seeing everybody else's perfect lives made me feel even more depressed, so I decided to quit for 30 days at least. I'm keeping a "diary" of how every single day goes without logging in every free minute that I've got. It became worse cause I am a teacher so I had a great deal of free time on my summer break. Day 3 I realize how I enjoy my life in a greater deal when I do not take pictures or live experiences just to make others like or love my pics. There are many other things I am discovering like who my true friends are, and who are not. It's been a good experience, but it has also been hard cause it was an addiction. It still is. Sometimes I find myself really bored and I feel an urge to post something to seek validation or to look for some memes. I'll keep on this experience to see the results at the end of 30 days. Thanks for the video :)
I deactivated my Facebook 7 months ago, don’t have any social media app on my phone, I really didn’t feel the damage it did to me until i got away from it. I discovered that unconsciously the content of social media distressed me, the exposure to all these horrible things shared is unnecessary . Now im happy and much more productive and my eyes are not red and puffy anymore
I've mostly removed myself from Twitter and Facebook for this reason- it's anxiety-inducing! Unfortunately I haven't deleted my account (yet) as too many friends and family members use it as a primary tool for event coordination. So I only check my events and private messages these days. I'm much more centered and (mostly) without useless worry.
i agree, i had the same problem with family and friends especially we are scattered in different countries, but they know im not reachable through media so they make the extra effort to let me know of any updates. or send me their latest photos privately, they don't seem to mind.
I'm with you Matt! Deleted Facebook earlier in the year because I was barely using it but Instagram and RUclips are time killers for me. Going to give it a shot after I post this comment!
I just got done with my diploma course at a design school and I was planning the few months that are ahead of me when I realised I had subscribed to you some months ago but never actually had the time to focus on your videos. So today I patiently watched ALL of your videos and I just wanted to let you know that I am beyond impressed and satisfied with your content. It is so in line with all of my thoughts regarding social media and lifestyle in general. I am so glad you do what you, that you are a genuine content creator working so hard to give people like us real quality content. So proud of your work and of course, highly inspired from the same! Cheers, Matt! Love from India.
The day I went to a restaurant, and got out of my car, and figured out ..... I do not need my mobile for this, that was the day I first consciously ate dinner🤫
Honestly for me just deleting the apps from my phone is already a big step forward. It stops me from doing that mindless scrolling and makes sure every visit to social media is conscious.
I've been off IG for several months and haven't logged into Fb for almost 2 months. I have to say, I don't even miss it anymore! And you definitely gain more time, it's great!
this was so effective, the impact social media has on us is crazy. thankfully this video taught me an important lesson and i think i will do this 30-day detox.
You have *INSPIRED* me, I know I'm watching this video late, but, I've decided to take the 30 Day Social Media Detox challenge and I've already uninstalled Instagram and Facebook(even though I rarely use it) and taken up the challenge. Thanks Matt D'Avella, Love your content❤
I'm going on this 30 Day Social Media Detox Mission Right Now! With less distraction I'm planning to commit more time to creating things, brainstorming bussiness ideas and to crack all my college semester exams which I've been failing since last 2 acedemic years! Wish me best luck guys, I've tries this social media detox thing earlier in my life and unfortunately i've always relapsed in as less as 3-4 days.. I hope i can really get rid of this addiction and won't relapse till the end 👍 Thank You
Indrajeet adkine, I'm rooting for you! You can do it! Keep putting your mind to it. I've cut back from it a lot too. Some days I don't even think about it. Let's do this thang okay? XOXO ❤️.
I was totally addicted to twitter when I was 15-16. I tweeted all my business, all the time. I didn't know what else to do with my day. It took me a loooong time to get out of that habit. Over a month ago, I finally deactivated my twitter, and it is now gone completely. I don't miss it at all. It was such a good decision! I finally have friends and an amazing boyfriend, and I am so happy with my life. I don't need twitter anymore to fill my time. 🥰
I’m deleting RUclips. I spend an ungodly amount of time on this platform. Goodbye everyone wishing you heatlh and luck in your life and your journey beyond these time-sucking apps. ♥️
I've started my 30 days detox few days ago before even coming across Matt's channel. I've always thought I never had enough time to do anything else other than studying, and during these last few days I've never felt like I had this much of free time. It feels funny and surprising to realise how addicted I was and fooled into thinking I didn't have enough time, when it was all just a lazy excuse to not confront myself and realize that I was doing something wrong . The day when I started my detox, I don't know how one of Matt's episodes showed up on my youtube suggested channels and I started watching him. I've always felt like I didn't have time to watch creative content on youtube until these last days. I've never felt so liberated and I'm not even excited to go back after 30 days. I feel bad I was programmed to fall for the trap of addiction and seeking attention to merely enjoy a hit of dopamine that serves me nothing, but I'm glad I've come to realize it now.
im 18 and i deleted all my social media accounts except youtube 6 months ago. i was an avid user then and i had expected i would feel like reactivating all of them soon but idk why, till date i haven’t felt the slightest urge to get back on it. surely i have lost communications with many of my friends but all of it had only showed me who my real friends are and who i should actually stick with in life. literally speaking, im happy now. it feels like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i have changed in many ways and all of ‘em are good changes. i feel that everyone should try this sometimes and this video is 👌🏻. thankyou!
Been 8 years without social media -(RUclips notwithstanding). I honestly can’t remember what it was like having it. At the end of the day, it’s not just social media, but phones in general. Texts become the equivalent to a “notification” or “like” from my perspective.
Wow, I really love the content. Im about to have my social media detox effectively today. Im completely lost in my studies. Its consumes a lot of my time. Yaa, it's really a waste of time. Hoping , I could consistently track myself into this 'detox'. Wow, this vlog is very detailed!
I had a year off social media after going through a tough time in school. I deleted everything for my entire last year, and I stayed away from all the normal gossip and only really worried about myself and my 2 best friends. I had a lot of time to focus and reflect and now im back on social media I tend to try and find out about social issues in the world and stay up to date with the news and media. I still can get distracted by social media so in thinking of getting rid of the most addictive one to me (Instagram) again. Great video!!!
Hashtagging isn't gonna help guys. It'll only worsen things more. And neither will commenting on my comment. Let me uninstall RUclips now. Oh wait. It is a default app. Damn you android device manufacturers.
So this comment might not be seen by many people but I did this detox for one semester while I was in my university. Overall, I think it was really great because I was able to focus on my assignments and stuff.
@@vanessae_e I only deleted Insta, Twitter, and Facebook though. Messaging apps like WhatsApp didn't though because it's important for people to contact me but I did try to minimize the usage time for it. Thanks for asking.
Just found your channel! Love your videos! I went off social media this last week and I still have the apps deleted and I've been WAY more productive and creative so I everyone do this you'll feel great!
I finish this week doing this challenge and on my first week i did more productive things than a month. Literally my first challenge and life changing as well. Thank you Matt 🙏
I have been off social media for two months even before this video. I can honestly say I feel better I talk to my family more. I’m in the military so I feel like instead of seeing how my family is doing I talk to my family more! He is also right about TIME. I have so much more time for things I used to put off. The next thing I want to do is delete RUclips I feel like I transferred from social media to RUclips. I know it sounds crazy but I’m trying to have the most time I can possible have! I hope you guys try it and see that it does help!
Whenever I feel myself getting hooked I do a one week detox, not just with social media. Pretty much anything that makes me feel like I'm dependent on it, whether it was a beverage or an app or whatever. That week lets me do some growth and when I get back to that thing I know for sure I'm consciously using it
You’re the only youtuber I never think twice on clicking a video. It’s like instinct to tap on the thumbnail 💪🏽. Great content as usual. I’ll probably start with with a 1 week detox though 😂
Thanks, Matt I have started social media detox now everything set ready. Now I have got a lot of time time to spend over myself than ever. My focus has improved considerably. After 30 days I will comment here about my journey.
I've been giving this challenge a go. I'm starting a business using FB as a teaching platform. However, I can do this as a challenge before that starts up next year. Thanks for the push and I love your "content"...LOL
I've been off twitter and instagram for about 3yrs now. Don't remember exactly how long but i stopped cause I hated how fake everything seemed. Like someone posting about how amazing x type of cuisine is or taking photos at an art gallery when you know they really dont care about that in real life, its just something cool to put on insta. It's a constant competition of LOOK AT ME MY LIFE IS AMAZING. Whenever I would post an accomplishment I felt kinda dirty. Idk how to explain it clearly, but dont regret ditching it. Biggest distractions tho are youtube and reddit by far. So for this challenge no youtube and reddit for a month. Gotta study using actual textbooks D:
The social media i use the most is youtube, but youtube can be more than just sitting down and being entertained. Like this video. So many videos are informative and helpful and give us assistance on living our lives. Idk 3 am thoughts. Thanks Matt.

Last spring, I went 3 months without social media. It changed a lot about how I viewed social media. It changed me so much that I ended up not re-downloading apps like Twitter and Facebook. I still use Instagram but I did a massive unfollow spree to all accounts that were not encouraging, motivating, or that didn't bring me joy. I still have snap chat, but my time on it has significantly decreased to about 1 or 2 times a month... yes I said a month. Thanks for putting this challenge out there for the public to join you. This is so worth it.
I’m on a detox that started on October 30 and will tentatively end when I log on to them on December 14. I wholeheartedly agree that I’m more focused, I have more time, I sleep better, and I feel like I’m a better “me”. I’m considering using the Buffer app mentioned in this video but all in all, I haven’t really missed social media.
I had a flip for about two years as well. Everyone looked at me crazy until we were all sitting at dinner and I pointed out that everyone is paying to be on their phones when we could all be talking to each other.
RUclips is a hell lot of distraction for me. Mostly because I visit your channel and watch the same video 2-3 times when I am bored. I am a great fan of yours. You brought the concept of minimalism in my life. Love what you do.
I just generally watch videos and don't appreciate the creators behind it much like it feels wrong now. I thank you Matt for this video im going to do the detox. Making commenting to videos my new micro habit. I really appreciate your efforts, thank you.

Deceptive too considering that some of the situations are staged.
No, i never compared myself. But the endless scrolling...

I've already stopped social media but I (ironically) can't stop using youtube and just killing time on it...
Dame boat....u tube is electrimic cocaine...lol
Same here but I don’t own a television or have cable so this is my hour of “tv” a day or every couple days. Haha
I use the app
Digital detox for the evenings...but daytime phone usage is unhealthy
There was a time where I didn't use any electronic for 6-8 months...it was bliss...I've never felt as connected to myself and reality as then. It was heaven on earth quite literally.
Same here. Matt's channel is 🔥🔥
RUclips is BY FAR my biggest distraction. But, I'm in.
Me too. Don’t know if I should really do something about it.
M M Right?! RUclips has everything...
@I bims cya... Wait no.
Lol
youtube is my biggest weakness. i'm gone for 30 days, see you then!
Social media is DEFINITELY another type of addiction. Detox time!

Just checked your channel.. Love your content bro 😉😁
Thank you Jillian! Made me smile:] Glad you enjoy it!
if your job depends on it, it is not so easy!
What do u think abt it now ?
RUclips is the real enemy here.
jay depends on what you are warching
jay I totally get you. Like, even if I’m watching meaningful vids I still spend too much time on yt, I just cant stop
Nonsense
Use a app calledstay focused to monitor use of every app
Exactly, no one wants to admit youtube is also an issue! I got rid of fb & snap, now IG & YT
Getting rid of social media made me feel uncomfortable at first. You feel disconnected from people but all you're missing is people just talking online. Honestly, getting rid of Facebook and all other social media platforms was the best decision I ever made!
I did this detox for Lent 2018. It was amazing. After 45 days I felt such more clarity and more connection with my creator.
I literally was just on instagram saying to myself how I really need to stop with all the social media ...then this came up! Thank you!
Mar Cecilia you should give this challenge a try.
so easy to do that for someone whose job does not depend on social media...
"and you think a lot about wether you’re lonelier with social media or without it", I'm curious to know what you've concluded about it now?
Spend that quality time with your children. They don’t need to see their mommy constantly starring at her phone not giving them any attention.
Thank you so much for sharing. It’s nothing less than serendipitous that I landed on this video because my soul and mind needs it. I’m addicted to the point where it’s instinctual that my hand will grab my phone and swipe during any down time I may have during my day. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m going to take the plunge and do the detox.
it is great that you can do that since your job does not dependent on social media...
I won the challenge 😍
Thanks Matt it totally changed my life ❤️
I am happier and feeling more healthy and alive 🌸
Just uninstalled Instagram. I know Reddit and RUclips count as social media, but I do so much learning there I don't really want to quit those. But, uh, I can stop whenever I want to
I uninstalled Reddit and RUclips. They are big distractions for me right now.
It depends on how you use Reddit. Some people use it to share silly memes and cute cat pictures but I prefer to look at it as a news source :)
Cudos!
I'm 17 too and yesterday was the second time this year I deleted all social media apps from my phone - this time round I'm deleting RUclips too because it's a real distraction to me 😁
I’m glad that people my age are deleting social media😂
Whenever I look up I see people glued to their phones and it’s something that makes me a bit sad. I deleted my social media a few months ago and it has really helped me to start reading again.
RUclips 3 hours a day is a problem. How do I quit RUclips?
@Wipyzza Impossible to uninstall it..
@Wipyzza Nah,I meant if RUclips comes as a preinstalled app, it's pretty much problematic to uninstall it.
@Wipyzza Yep
You can disable the app
3 hours?😁 What a rookie number...I watch it 5 hours a day
i love minimalist youtubers. ❤️
i think they all provide me positive vibes while watching their videos, which are very helpful for my anxiety. 🌈🌈
I gave up social media about 5months ago. The only thing I can't really give up it's RUclips..

I quit social media for 5 weeks and I’ve never felt better and i now just use it when I need something or if I have free time to reward myself
Hi, Matt!

@@mahmudhussain93 great tip.
Clau Ll. How did it go
13days of my socmed detox😁
How do I deactivate my Instagram and Facebook accounts?
@@charmainephasoana6850 you can Google it and you will get the steps.
I'm with you Matt! Deleted Facebook earlier in the year because I was barely using it but Instagram and RUclips are time killers for me. Going to give it a shot after I post this comment!
For a RUclipsr to say “cut off RUclips too”, it’s a big deal. Thanks Matt!

My goodness
All the mindless scrolling, wasted so much time over the years

Wish me best luck guys, I've tries this social media detox thing earlier in my life and unfortunately i've always relapsed in as less as 3-4 days.. I hope i can really get rid of this addiction and won't relapse till the end 👍 Thank You

God is good !!
Jay Jamerson I agree about the texting... that’s where I fall short 😣😩🤦🏽♀️

This video helped me back in 2019 or 2018. Now I am back here, to help my self again. Thanks for your video. :)

Whenever I feel myself getting hooked I do a one week detox, not just with social media. Pretty much anything that makes me feel like I'm dependent on it, whether it was a beverage or an app or whatever. That week lets me do some growth and when I get back to that thing I know for sure I'm consciously using it

I quit Facebook a few months back and honestly I was so relieved. I started reading and learning new languages. Worth it.

I love watching your videos between my study breaks, they're just so aesthetically calming and pleasing
At the start of 2018 I made a resolution to detox social media, I did...
I left FB, IG, Twitter & SC
But youtube..... uhhhh
me me just because can comment doesn’t make it social media, you can comment on almost every app lol
I've had a flip phone for two years simply because it's so affordable. The byproduct was a much needed escape from escapism.
Write down your goals. Find what u love to do and go do it, watching him all the time is not helping u personally. Go accomplish YOUR goals.
You are wasting alot of time rewatching the same videos. Go apply it to your life.
I just generally watch videos and don't appreciate the creators behind it much like it feels wrong now. I thank you Matt for this video im going to do the detox. Making commenting to videos my new micro habit. I really appreciate your efforts, thank you.
Only thing I need to get off is RUclips and Quora.
A RANDOM BLOATMAXER genius my friend
What do you even do on Quora?
Read! Literally.
Guy I deleted Facebook Instagram and even WhatsApp yesterday and till 24 of August I'm not gonna use it
Will be motivated if u like it 😊
Whatsapp is not social media, you can use it lol.
@@rbhavin7 it is distracting anyway
@@scheinweltco Not completely, its a communication tool which you can use only when needed unlike social media apps which are flooded by various contents such as feeds and stories.
@@nat3299 you can avoid it, like I dont even go to that status tab anymore because of the cringy updates... I just use it mainly for communication purposes...
literally proving the point, asking for like, wanting that dopamine. used your own motivation, stop depending on like n this shit.
What about RUclips...I can't live without it
You can. You just don't know it yet :)
I’m already taking a break from social media, except for youtube, but you’ve encouraged me to keep going. Thanks
I’ve gone one week without social media and the first two days I had withdrawal but then I got used to it over time. I actually like people not knowing what I’m up to and being in my business.
If a friend does reach out they can genuinely find out what’s being going on in my life and we can have a legitimate conversation about it instead of them watching my “stories” and thinking they already have the information they need and thinking there’s no need for contact.!
¨when was the last time you checked your phone?¨ me: literally scrolling through social media as i watch the video
I'll take a social media detox including RUclips and update everyone in 30 days. Wish me luck!
yushan li hows it going?
Amazing content! Thank you so much 😊 just subscribed
My winter break is tomorrow and, because I don’t have to use my computer for school work for the next month (30 days almost exactly hell yeah) I will be doing this. For real!!! I’ll give you an update in 30 days.
See you on the other side soldier *salutes*
Nice!! Let me know how it worked (in 3 Weeks) - also made a video about it :)
I'm loving every bit of this. I had the pleasure of reading something similar, and it was sheer brilliance. "Reclaiming Connection: The Journey of a Digital Detox" by Joshua Ember
