I recently moved and during packing i found my moms old alarm clock. Decided to smuggle it to our new home and it has really made a difference in my mornings. Less headaches from the screen in the darkness of the room right as i am waking up. Trying to do small changes like that and make it normal for me
I wish there was a way to get social media without fyps etc bc I love seeing what my friends are up to but hate getting distracted and doom scrolling but don’t want to delete them and miss my friends
on android there is an app called distraction free instagram which gives u options on what do u want to remove personally i use it to remove everything except for stories, so i have the dms and the stories only while reels and the home page and the explore page are all blank
I sooo get this! There's a feature on Instagram where I think you can favourite certain people (eg. your friends) so it shows up their content first! x
But if you miss your friends you can just call them or visit! It’s actually better to miss people, you become more present in their company and have more to talk about
@@JessFarnham , I wanted to limit the negativity that I kept getting exposed to through social media, news, inappropriate content, etc. I am also a pastor, so I struggle with just putting work down. @@9archive aw thank you!! That is so fair since you need to know the trends. But maybe you could do something like only spending 15 minutes a day consciously looking for those trends if you wanted to do a day without your phone, and then the rest of the time off your phone. Or ask your friends to note down any trends they see that day if you’re having a phone free day! You should definitely give it a go 🫶
Stumbled across this video when comparing smartphone options 😅.. My phone died today and I felt so free going to the supermarket with just my grocery list and wallet! So thank you (and the algorithm) for the reminder. (Btw: LOVE the mugs! Pottery is so fun.)
I have done almost the same. Deleted my instagram and facebook. Deleted all unnecessary apps. Put on flight mode and turn if off regularly. Do not bring it to supermarket, the toilet, or fitness. Also when I visit friends I leave it in my coat by the door. I want to keep my smartphone as I look to go exploring places I have not been before, and want to make sure I can find my way back. So this alternative is perfect for me, and I love seeing people going in the same direction. Only reason I am online rn, is because I work from a computer hehe
I’m 23 years old, and I agree with you, your words touched my heart. I want to do what you did ,but I can’t because I’m in college, and the most important app is WhatsApp. A lot of things will be more difficult without my phone . Sometimes I wish I had been born in the 80s etc .. I feel like our lives have been stolen.
Definitely so true that things will be more difficult without a phone. I don't know what phone you have but I like that I can set app limits or delete apps you don't want to have access to so you could try and 'dumb down' your smartphone to see if that helps!😊
I’m 28 and I remember when iPhones came out, my parents wouldn’t get me one and I was so mad at the time because everyone else had one. Me and my mom shared a razr flip phone which I remember was one of the coolest phones at one point. I’ve had a smartphone for a long time, right now I have an iPhone 8 and I feel like I’m less addicted to my phone than other people around me, especially when it comes to social media, but I still have a hard time getting off of it. I spend so much time on RUclips mostly. Honestly thinking about getting a flip phone again. Turning off my notifications has helped me a lot for sure though
I feel like so many people will relate to that - I would say it’s 100% worth it getting just a cheap flip phone if you want to have phone free days as I think it really helps your screen time in general when you do have smartphone days because you notice so much more how easy it is to get sucked in on your phone!
I believe that only social media detox would do! Maps, alarm clocks with circadian rhythm, good camera and other stuff are pretty useful on a daily basis and we should learn to use the devices responsibly
this video truly made me consider trying this out !! i've always thought "oh i could never.. im way too addicted to it. but now i kinda want to give it a go
