- You asked for it, I deliver. A sneak peak of MK Trilogy for the PS1. My very first time playing this version in probably 20 years. Noob Saibot is hands down the easiest character to beat this version with. So to show a little of what this version includes I do a quick play through with Sub, MK1 Raiden, and Noob.

I have to add another memory. I remember standing in circuit city and looking at the back of the MKT case and seeing the character select screen and just LOSING MY MIND esp seeing human smoke lol

MK itself as a franchise defines my childhood, but this game, MKT on the psx, is my most pivotal. It was my first game on the psx, countless hours played enjoying the near arcade perfect gameplay while before all I played was SNES ports which were good but nothing like this. I was in 3rd grade, and all I could think about was the weekends so I could play it (and Tekken 2 and Soul Blade). Great memories
I used to play this with my brother on the PC. It was the same but without the loading times. My favorite MK after MK2.
Finally the best version of trilogy
It’s great the only thing I dislike is the loading, but this world is so impatient now it’s rubbed off on me whereas when I was young I could care less about that kind of thing lol
I feel ya I’m the same I love the older disk games but the loading can be irritating
This is pretty nostalgic for me. I got this when my brother got Porsche Challenge from a game store my dad took us to. And sometime later on, he noticed how violent it is 😅

This is the best mk game
For the PS1 version of Trilogy, the ending screens of the original MK3 characters have the ending artwork as seen in the arcade, while new artwork was developed for Kitana, Jade, Reptile, Scorpion, and Rayden (there's also new artwork for MK1 Kano, as well as reusing the Elder God artwork for MK1 Rayden). The other characters simply have their ending text next to the versus pose.
My favorite MK along with MK2 and Deception. I remember getting this game at Toys R Us back in the 90’s
I remember playing this on the N64. My cousin had this on the PS1. My brother told me basically every character were available including all bosses and I was upset to see that Kintaro & Goro were not playable characters. Overall , I still enjoyed the game. It was the upgrade for my UMK3 (In my opinion)
The loading times suck for sure, I’ll stick with N64, but having additional costumes and a couple of more playable bosses is super dope! 🍻

Shoot, I still have a copy for ps1! I wanted it so bad as a kid, once I got it, I never let it go! I was so excited to play as the boss characters!

The PC version, for what it's worth, has exactly the same content but without load times, so it's objectively the best version of this game.
One thing I just noticed while watching this video @3:23, is how the this game is able to load all 32 character stance animations into the PlayStation’s 1MB of VRAM.

I bought this game at release and had the same experience. Blown away by the roster, but the loading times and difficulty kinda ruined it for me. But the one-button fatalities cheat was really cool.

Just a theory, but the reason it's "Rayden" on consoles is because "Raiden" is an existing shoot-'em-up series that is also on consoles and so they changed it to avoid copyright issues.
This game was my exposure to MK, happy to see this version played!
The video capture looks great! I've always enjoyed the PS1 and N64 versions of this game equally, I feel both versions have their pros and cons, but both versions are pretty great. Awesome video as always!

I remember playing this for the first time and thinking "how the f do people use the Playstation controller over the SNES?". Now everyone uses them lol. Great playthrough. Audio was perfect 👌
PlayStation controllers were awesome, I find the d-pad on them doesn’t hold up anymore for fighters though, but to each their own 👊🏼

I tried this on the n64 and got cooked by Jade , once I got to the E the difficulty suddenly skyrocketed
always loved seeing all the characters together. that loading is rough though
That’s the only gripe I have with this version. Loading sucks, period lol
The Bank stage itself was not even in Ultimate MK3 unless you play the Sega Saturn or Sega Genesis versions which had it but both versions reuse the MK3 Bank stage instead. The Bank stage was missing in SNES, DS, Arcade, and emulation of the arcade versions. The N64 version of MK Trilogy was also missing the Bank stage therefore this new Bank stage with the carpet is exclusive to the PS1 and Saturn version of MK Trilogy. I'm not a fan of any of the MK Trilogy games cause all the games does felt like they are missing stuffs that were in previous games. I also hated how they change Raiden's flying move (both versions) to be more like a projectile. It doesn't touch the opponent like it did in MK1 & MKII, if the opponent duck then it misses. In the previous two games it'll connect even if the opponent ducks. This change essentially make both Raiden very crappy to play unlike the first two games. Also hate how they waterdown Motaro too, his horse body was suppose to be immune to projectile, making his entire body vulnerable means he literally does not feel like a boss anymore.

when i was a kid.. i thought this is more ultimate than ultimate .. but later found out how this game wasnt balanced so they didnt use this in tournaments .. i always wanted them to re-release this with the arcade klassics and fix all the bad things about it.
Just got a copy recently, played it on ps3, beat a tower but the screen goes dark and some music keeps playing but no endings, need an og psx to see the ending’s. Won’t work on ps2 either.

If you happen to play the Champion tower on very hard difficulty, Rain is also a very good character to beat the game. If I remember correctly the AI never blocks the orb attack so you can just do orb -> super roundhouse kick move -> when they are flying from the other side of the screen you uppercut and repeat. For bosses you can do orb -> roundhouse kick.
Nice! You have one of the OG copies! The Greatest Hits version has an unfortunate defect built in.
I think you have it backwards. The Greatest Hits fixed the low gravity and other bugs the earlier versions had. It's the closest version to arcade UMK3

Noob Saibot is Boon Tobias backwards. Noob's Dorfen is Boon's Forden, with the D and the F reversed. Interestingly this version of the game is missing The Hidden Portal and Noob's Dorfen stages from MK3, while the N64 has those stages in addition to The Star Bridge Stage. However the N64 version is missing much more important arenas like Kahn's Arena and The Bank. Too bad the MK3 tracks are slowed down and lower pitched as well in the PS1.

The one thing that's a bonus to Mortal Kombat Trilogy on PS1, is that you can play the game CD in a CD Player, to listen to all the stage songs.

@@trustnoone3007 Yeah, it was the extra that PS1 version had. But as well the PS1 version had 7 more characters, than the N64 version did. But the N64 version had the bosses, with the added of fatalities which the PS1 didn't have.
This was fun! I have fond (and traumatic) memories of this game from childhood.
Hey Darryl, every so often I see people asking you to check out some MUGEN versions of MK. A lot of them are pretty ridiculous, fair enough. But have you checked out Mortal Kombat II Remix? You might have some fun with it, especially since MKII is your favorite of the series. Do recommend.

It's funny hearing you say you're used to the joystick and buttons. I'm a little younger than you. Started going to the arcade around 97 when mk4 came out, which is why I love that abomination so much. Anyway, i never got used to arcade controls and cannot for the life of my play any fighting game without a controller.

This game. Wrestlmania arcade, x-men vs. street fighter where may favorite on the ps1. Is there any chance you would play MK Shaloin Monks? I played that with friends on the Xbox. Later on, the ps2.
I played Shaolin Monks a couple months ago, it’s still posted but the quality isn’t the best. I could probably revisit it, I had initially planned too, but got distracted with other ports. I’ll get back into it soon 👊🏼

Pretty nostalgic game! The roster (that also includes all 4 bosses) and stages are great and the gameplay is fast. On the downside, the music is broken (it ends abruptly or keeps playing between stages) and the difficulty is notoriously high.

The only way you can beat MK Trilogy is to have the blocking disabled on.
What does that smoke ring move from Noob actually do? Prevent the opponent from blocking? Or something more?
No blocking, no specials, can't hit Noob with any attacks, resets combo hit counter when it ends. Most broken move in MK history
Prevents them from being able to attack you AND prevents them from blocking lol

I got the GOG version of this for PC and it's the best version honestly. Same game without the load times. Not that expensive either. I'd recommend it if you're able.

This game was so much fun. I beat the shit out of all my friends so much I didn’t get to play it much. Hahaha
Definitely a fun game to play with others, not so much single player with the insane difficulty, but fun regardless 👊🏼

I had MKT for the original PlayStation. It was fun, but this port/enhancement of UMK3 felt rushed. But still superior the N64 version. And for whatever reason, Scorpion’s costume is the wrong color (dirty gold instead of yellow).

What Does Rayden Say ?
The voice actor for Raiden has stated that in actuality, he just yelled nonsensically. I like “get back in the carrr!”.
To me he says “HONEY MARMALADE!!” lol and it will always sound that way to me 👊🏼
I've always heard it as "fighters on the ready", but I don't think it's actual sense.
There's actually a scene in the anime "Hi Score Girl" where they're talking about what Rayden's saying when he does the Torpedo.
Noob, Sub Zero and Smoke, were the best characters.
Sindel, sheeva, and kitana does decent damage to the bosses

Maybe one day if I can borrow it, the game is crazy expensive now AND I’d have to buy a Saturn which goes for around 200 where I live.
Pretty good port (except for the loading time).
Yeah, also how the music would just suddenly stop each time the next fight began to load always sounded a little amateurish to me. In my opinion the game didn't sound as polished as it could have been in that respect. The Playstation version of MK3 didn't have that problem.

Their were two version mk released another trilogy I believe 2000 or 2001 because of the complaints about the loading I remember having two versions gameplay was the same only difference was the loading
