Backed up evap case or not , I was not paying a mechanic 1000$ just because he said the dash “ had “ to come out. The door needs to Be trimmed a little bit yes even the bottom hinge part. I just did the yesterday and I have hot heat and ice cold air. The dash doesn’t have to come out and the door is 35$ at oreilys.
You said doing it by removing the dash takes about the same amount of time as replacing the blend door by cutting a hole in the plenum. Not even close! It only takes a fraction of the time versus removing the dash.
@@jimsmith8071 For me the idea of losing or breaking some smaller part has always been 'why' the DASH removal is daunting. If you work with these types of alterations you can do it quickly but if not one gone piece is a real 'expletive'.
My vacuum line is broken near the firewall. I believe it is the one that connects to what I believe is the mode actuator. The hose shown in 19:20 of the video. Is there a way to access this hose to change it out completely without pulling the dash apart?
Did you mean 9:20? If so in order to replace the entire line I think you will have to pull the dash. But there is no need to replace the whole line if you see where it is broken. You can buy a rubber coupling that fits over the plastic vacuum lines. You can slip it over the broken portion and then add new lines as needed.
@@TheStanleyWay Yes I did mean 9:20. I did this in the past but the wear was near the firewall and it has since broken off flush with the firewall now.
Great video I need help on a 97 f150 lariat 4.6 Vents go to defrost only during acceleration Have checked a vaccum lines and all is good Please help in another direction to look
I don’t know what else it could be if the vacuum system is good. There is a vacuum reservoir on the right side firewall that could be cracked. I would check that, the engine compartment vacuum lines, and the lines behind the glove box. Sorry I can’t be more help but maybe check the vacuum system again. Vacuum leaks can be very elusive. Check during idle also, sometimes you can hear the sucking noise and as you run your hand around the area, the noise will change leading you to the leak. I have a ford 1997 van chateou that won't blow hot air only cold. Could you share some videos or instructions on how to fix it, the new actuator is not moving.
@TheStanleyWay I wish, I cant even remove the left panel, but at bottom, I can see the actuator hanging from the connector, so what I did was to replace it, leave it hanging and turn the hot air on and off to see if it moves, and it doesn't. I was thinking into putting a screwdriver inside the whole where the actuator thing goes and move it, but I can't reach or get a good look, plus idk if it goes right or left.
@@olivercito2011 ok, if the actuator is not moving, that would be a good place to start. Make sure it is plugged in good before you spend money on a new one. I just fixed a 2011 CRV that had no heat by pushing the electrical connector in.
Question if u see this can let me know if this one had a cabin air filter . I need change . Mine on a 1998 f150. But idk if it has one they told me I would have to remove the whole thing like you did
I don’t think it has one, I didn’t see one during this job and I have removed the dash on this model F-150 and Expeditions many times. I have never removed a dash for a cabin filter. There is always some type access. I am pretty sure there is no cabin filter.
@@TheStanleyWay thank you for that information. I believe the same I think they didn't add cabin air filter til 99. That's what Google says. Also what do you think a issue is on a Ford if the ac sounds like it's blowing hard but very minimum air is coming out. And it leaks water by our feet over time.
@@josegovea7123 you probably have a bunch of leaves, dust, or dirt clogging the evaporator coil and this has also clogged up your drain. If you see on the video the evaporator is enclosed in a plastic box and there is a drain that comes out by the firewall. Make sure this drain is clear and you can also try to clean out the evaporator with water. There are a few videos on RUclips showing that. Try that first.
so, if i’m getting heat. but not cold. there’s a chance that it’s just the door itself not able to switch to cold because the door is broken? i verified that the switch is rotating. but i’m not sure if it’s broken like yours. so i’m thinking maybe my door is also broken.
You are correct, it very well could be this door. This particular truck the owner thought he had no A/C. Turns out the A/C worked great it was just the blend door stuck on heat and heat will always over power the A/C.
@@TheStanleyWay is there a way i can contact you? i’ve verified that my blend door is working correctly. open and closes as it should. i’ve had 2 shops look at my a/c system. it will stay cold for just a few weeks. then it stops working.
@kaylahowell7696 no heat could be this same problem. Find the coolant hoses in the engine compartment that go through the firewall and into the cab. Once the engine is warmed up, touch both hoses to see if they are warm. If they are warm and you have no heat it is probably the blend door. If they aren’t warm you could be low on coolant or have a blockage that doesn’t allow coolant into the heater core.
I did mind and I just😊 cut the back panel behind the clove compartment out and after attaching the clove compartment back you couldn't see the cutout, 30 minutes I had heat..
I did the same thing too… removed the dash and followed your instructions. It’s not as bad as everyone thinks. Appreciate it 💪

Great video to know what to expect if you want to change out the blend door. Can I ask how long it took you to take the dash apart. Thanks.

But blend door isn't vaccum operated, its electric
The only vaccum operated function is the mode selector
@@johnnyconrad4859 that is correct. The problem with your truck is the mode selector.
