$2,000.- mpago.la/2BHPSNw It is quite easy to remove the sunroof and its shuttle from an E36 BMW.
Tools needed are:
1. bmw tool to move the sunroof manually, or just any allen key that fits
2. T20 or T25 torx
3. 17mm socket
I had to redo the headliner and shuttle upholstery and thought that it might be usefull to shoot a video when removing the sunroof. I'll be posting a whole video on the headliner uphostery as well. Stay tune!

just to help anyone else who is stuck with the shuttle not sliding back the sunroof needs to be only VERY slightly opened for it to slide back manually, if you open it too much it will lock into place and you wont be able to move it.

Buenas, tengo una consulta, compre mi e36 1993 y el covertor del techo corredizo se lo habian quitado y nunca se lo pusieron por lo tanto me lo dieron suelto, quiero ponerlo pero nose como sera. Tengo que desmontar todo el techo corredizo o se puede de otra forma ?=

Alright ... my sunroof lifters are broken so it won't tilt ( in order to reach to the 2 side screws ) .. do you think disconnecting the motor will allow me to just push the metal part ( the sunroof cover ) up? instead of tilting it automatically ? . Thanks :)

Good question. So you can lower it but now tilt it, right? What happens if you actuate it manually with the tool and help by pushing it with your hands at the same time? Unless the motor is broken I don't believe it would help disconnecting it...

Tried this already, but when I actuate it manually and push it up to the tilting position .. it won't move ... even the motor will stop spining at this point .. so what I'm trying to figure out is how to free it, that makes me thinking of disconnecting the motor.

Sh M To free the metal cover you need to slightly lower the sumroof, not tilt it up. I guess that’s what you tried already, right?

Yeah that's right, but to get to the 2 screws ( left and right ) I need to tilt it .. which i can't do because the lifters are stuck .
