Ive been looking everywhere to find out how to remove the headlining part of the E38 I’ve just bought and your video was the first that showed how to do this. Definitely a good how to guide and one to tag the E38 mono sunroof owners in on.

After following the vid and clicking back the sunroof pannel as described it no long goes back on its own the correct way is to click the button a few times until the pannel comes free and slides back
On Top of being Funny , you guy's Rock with good info! Thanks! I was so bummed when the sunroof stopped on me! Didn't see the headliner caught though and it's quite dirty! Any cleaning thoughts?
I was wondering why mine was missing the fabric and had never been fixed, went to do the job and surprise surprise one of the torque screws are stripped and bolt is in tight as hell, down the rabbit hole I go again…
I REALLY dont get why they didn't make the bottom of the sunroof flat. I'm gonna be redoing my headliner.will it make the job any easier with the headliner down?
Sorry but there should be no ridges showing. The lining was originally secured with a double sided adhesive sheet which stretched over the ridges. If you don’t want be too purest you can cut the lining to cover just the visible part and ignore the surrounding overlap (you’d never know!). That way you don’t have to worry about all the metal removal (and losing the screws). I haven’t found the double sided adhesive sheet but may someone knows where to get. Otherwise 3m 77 glue will do the trick even if the ridges still show
If it’s leaking the drains are plugged they are not meant to be sealed they have drains that run down into weirs and wonderful places 😂 you buy lil brushes and wire to snake into them

should be! if not, what i did is get a needle, and tug and tuck it in to the stop

Thinking again, the way to avoid the ridges showing is to put the glue only on the ‘positive’ ridges
Another thing, if the removed lining is too floppy to offer up to stick some iron thick vinyl
Will add the needed stiffness
