Guys, it’s not even that serious. Adidas is like Nike. You know that the quality of the brand alone has stood the test of time and is still prevalent amongst the flood of other sneaker brands, which justifies the value of the products as top tier. Granted, in terms of the “fast fashion” comment, despite being iconic brands, their popularity factors them into the more common trend of fashion just due to how popular and recognizable they are.
I think they are talking about leather sneakers. When dealing with real leather shoes, the cheapest you can get is in the $60 - $70 price range. Stan Smith’s go for $80 on adidas and usuall have some sale attached to it. Definitely not cheap, but on the lower end its type
I remember in the mid-2000s when these were dirt cheap. No one bought them, and because of that, the prices were super low. The Superstar, on the other hand, was a completely different story.
As likable as these two presenters are, it's a little funny to see them debating the merits of a shoe that was designed back in 1970. The shoe is a classic, and it's quality and cleanness of design were well-established long before these two were born.
best white sneakers for each price range imo: ~$100: Adidas stan smith ~$200: Greats royale blanco ~$300: Axel Arigato Clean 90 ~$400: Common Projects no reason to go above CP's tbh they are the dream
Hello there ! I'm not from the US but I can tell you that, in France, 100 dollars, which is a little bit more than 86 euros, is considered as an "upper-middle" range for a pair of shoes. I would use the term "upper-middle" because, for me, middle-range shoes are rather from brands like Converse or Reebok (you can find a pair for around 60 euros or less). Then you got the low-range shoes from unkown brands or cheap ones and on the opposite side, the shoes from high-end brands like Gucci, Common Projects, Alexander McQueen, etc. So, in my opinion, that's how I would class the different prices on sneakers in rich countries : - From 1 to 30 euros : low-range shoes (Unknown brands or brands known for selling low-price shoes) - From 31 to 80 euros : middle-range shoes (Converse, Reebok, Fila, etc.) - From 81 to 120 euros : "upper-middle" range shoes (Lacoste, Fred Perry, Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Nike, etc.) - From 120 to 300 euros : high-range shoes (some Nike shoes like the Vapormax, or other shoes meant for special sports like pairs from Asics for instance) - Above 300 euros : high-end, luxurious shoes (Gucci, Balenciaga, Common Projects, Louis Vuitton, etc.) I want to apologize if I did some mistakes, I'm French so, as you would expect, I don't speak English really well ^^
"Cheap" is in the eye of the beholder Their version of "Cheap" in this case probably only applies to someone who can afford a wardrobe budget. You can buy white sneakers in the US for about $30, but they won't be this quality.
I just got the Stan Smith White “sock” version for $50 on sale with coupon codes, and just got a white knit version at the Adidas outlet for $24. Can’t beat it.
AWxInc unless you’re only buying the Stan Smith triple white the other colors aren’t as clean. The colored ones have Stan Smith’s head stamped on the vamp of the shoe. Plus the vamp is too long and rides up the front of your ankles, in addition it tends to shift from side to side. The leather quality is pretty below average and creases horribly. Your only comparison is the Common Projects Achilles which is retailed at $400 as if there’s only 2 types of minimalistic white sneakers. There are plenty of mid level brands like Koio, Greats, New Republic and Oliver Cabell to name a few. I feel like you should’ve done some more research and provide some more options for the viewers.
Andy Lai she provided more options.. the video was about Stan Smith specifically. I just recently got some Stan Smiths and for $70-80 they are fantastic. Why would you spend $400 on a pair of shoes you can’t resole? You would have to rotate out your $400 sneakers quite a bit to preserve the sole long enough for it to be worth half what you paid, but then cost per wear is probably still not worth it.
Yes the video is specifically about the Stan Smith but she brought up the Common Projects ($400) as a comparison. I didn't mention it other than giving other alternatives to the Stan Smith
sounds good, but there are so many products, how are you gonna choose which to show us. also because everyone is wearing stan smiths, I was thinking of getting a pair of vans you recommended. what do you think?
My colleague Sophie wore a black pair back in 2018 with her security uniform at Wimbledon as Stan himself was passing her access control point to get to the competitors outdoor area she tapped him and as he turned surprised she pointed down to her feet, he let out a “woh! I like it” then he said “ your cooler that all these guys with me” and proceeded to give her a hi five. 🤗
One of the things I use for my sneakers and especially with my Stan Smith are shoe trees. By using them it has made the life of my sneakers last so much longer!
Stan Smith Triple White def worth it. I paid 60 bucks for mine or even if I paid 120 still worth it. With these tho I take extra care. Insert shoe trees, wipe clean and put back in their box. I like the 3 stripe perforations that’s what’s unique about these shoes. Shoe profile not too low nor too high just right.
Ohmylazyheart _ I don’t think you can fully rid of the creases you can only hope to contain them. But most people or many people in my opinion, and I’ve seen it, don’t take care of their sneakers like they do their dress shoes if that. My pair of Stan’s do have a little crease action going but it’s minimal right now. I think it’s due to the shoe trees.
Tbh I bought the green ones because when I was staying in Paris everyone and their mother had these. I don't wear them often because I have heel spurs and the shoes unfortunately have no arch support. Still an iconic shoe though, so I recommend them to anyone.
Good video y'all. Ahh the simple intro (per suggestion) 🤣 nice. Stans have been a NYC hood classic forever, second to Nike Air Force. Stans however is #1 for that clean cool out classic. All the new over priced "fashion" kix are based off the Stan Smith. Just look at their designs. How about the Levi's trucker jacket, Seiko SKX or (a) Ray Ban as future topics for this series? 👍🏾
I wore Stan Smiths exclusively for 10 years, nobody wore them at the time and I usually got a pair for 45€, which was dirt cheap. A couple of years after I stopped wearing them for some Superstars, they got insanely popular and prices jumped from 45 to 100€. They are a timeless design and one that every one must own atleast once in a lifetime. Not many sneakers around that look that good with a nice fitting 3 piece suit.
I have a few pairs of these in different colors. I have all-blacks, reflective silver, white with the navy blue tab. I had them with the silver heel tab a few years back. I need a pair of triple-whites. You can't go wrong with Stans. The actual man himself, Stan Smith (former US Open champ) was at the tournament this year promoting his new book. These are timeless classics.
I see them as a classic fashion and casual sneaker and wear them with an insert. They feel good for a time, look good with shorts, khakis and jeans, and are perfect for parties or brief outings, bbq's etc. But if you are heavyset, and have to do any serious walking, exercise, or standing around on concrete for a period of time, they hurt my feet. I am flatfooted, but I am also overweight by a couple 10 pounds whereas many other brand sneakers don't have the style but are extremely comfortable and cause no problem. It would be great if they combined the two at some point, style and extreme comfort.
these sneakers are a bit too popular and they don't have a very streamlined profile, especially at the toebox (it does look kinda bulky). converse jack purcells are a better option in my opinion. i am pretty sure there are other sneakers that look similar to achilles from common projects, which probably has the best profile among all sneakers!
Well it's not just about a streamlined profile. Stan Smiths are by far the most versatile in this price range because of their overall shape. Converse shoes aren't a good look for everyone. Their silhouette are too long and slim and can make some people with longer feet look like clown shoes. Especially when their toebox is curved upwards. It's a very specific look. Stan Smith's silhouette on the other hand, isn't too flat or too long. It starts to curve up sooner than converse or vans so it's less flat looking. Yes it is overall bulkier but the overall shape is better than converse. These are popular for a good reason.
LazaiPai well, I can't deny that you have a point there. It depends on our personal style and I prefer other white sneakers that works with mine. Stan smiths are definitely not a staple in my opinion.
qarhsi agree..I prefer vans old school, converse chuck or jack purcell, or even onitsuka mexico 66.. less bulky than stan smith..most of them also come in white leather option
I agree with the sentiment that they are a bit too popular. What I like at a higher price point is the "Clae Bradley white leather shoe" ($140). Cleaner look than the stans, but not as expensive as the common project shoes. I totally understand that Clae shoes come at a premium. Therefore, the value is not as good. Also there is a similar white sneaker made by New balance available at J. Crew which is at a similar price point to the Stan smith's.
The New Republic Kurt white leather sneakers in my opinion are the best white sneaker on the market for under a $100. If you are looking for a cheap version of the common project achilles highs the Kurts in my opinion are the PERFECT option. And I really believe for its quality and design at it's price it really is unbeatable, I have not found another shoe that can compete with it.
Does it really matter what color the back part of a Stan Smith is? Like if you get green, do you have to think about your outfit so that it doesn't clash with the green part? Thanks!
Not really. They are so stylish that you won't even have to think of the outfit. I recommend you to use it with basic outfits. It levels up the fashion of the shoes and yours as well.
I have not experienced my stan smiths having the durability you described, it creased severely and got scruff marks, held up like synthetic leather. Looked good for maybe half a year. No better than fast fashion h&m shoes.
Not sure I'm sold on these. I saw a pair of K Swiss that look identical to these for $29. And a pair of more comfortable Johnston and Murphy with better/softer leather for only $20 more. I think these are an okay shoe but certainly not particularly great value for $80. If I were going Adidas, I would probably go with an all white leather Samba or Gazelle over these.
Triple Whites are difficult to find at retail in your size, took about a week of watching the Adidas website to grab mine. Also recommend going half a size down from your usual for a good fit.
I'd love to hear you expand on the white sneaker topic a bit more (if you're doing videos on one item), like, what options would you opt for if you had a bigger budget (100, 200, 300, 400 and so on). Thanks for the video, I watch all your stuff :)
In my opinion the most comfortable and no brainer shoes in the world. The only disadvantage is that they will get quite dirty over time and the leather will look kinda worn out after some time. I've been walking with stan smiths for about a year every day all day and I'm absolutely satisfied. Buying my third pair now.
Greats Royale are $160, full grain leather in and out so you can wear them sockless unlike the stans but without the price of the CP. They are sweet spot between Stan smith’s and the CP.
To me personaly they are a bit too mainstream. Thats why I prefer the PUMA Court Star, PUMA Basket Classic or the Puma Match 74 (which have some nice velour accents). They are as good as the Stan Smith in terms of quality and you can get those for about 50 dollars on Amazon.
How important is the color of the back? As it would be my first pair of white sneakers should I stick to the all white one or can I use the color options with every outfit?
Not the same animal, but what do you think about the Nike Killshot 2’s? They always capture my attention, but not sure how versatile they’d be. Thoughts?
How do you clean the shoelaces? personally i don't like his face on the shoe, instead i bought Fred Perry's white leather sneaker are they somewhat comparable?
I love this new way of making the video! super dynamic, direct and entertaining! congrats! by the way, I love the Stan Smith! Such a classic and iconic sneaker! 🎾
I can see why people love the shor, but there are a few reasons why I don't. 1. Too common 2. Really bulbous / bulky toe box 3. Look really chunky 4. The holes on the sides With that said they are an insane value and while I can't jump to the common projects, I would say epaulet trainers and greats (don't like the sides on greats royales either ) are great alternatives but come in at nearly 200 dollars. I'm holding out to purchase the Epaulet but can absolutely understand why someone would not be interested in that kind of money on a shoe.
Ashley, I think you’d like similar sneakers from the brand Clae called “Bradley”. They’re similar to these Stan Smiths, but they have a more minimalistic look without all the branding. They’re also very high quality.
I want to thank Mr. Dorian turning the wheel a little bit, and say words of justice in favor of the amazing Adidas Stan Smith; this iconic and timeless white sneaker that everyone loves, and most of the white sneaker industry is trying to copy. It's often imitated but never replicated.
For me, the only downside of the Stan Smith is the big shoe tongue, I don't like it at all, it keeps coming out of the hem part of the pants and I think it destroys the whole look, is there any way to decrease it?
IDK, they are quite basic. I just wish the soles were a but thicker on them. I don't like shoes that are too flat or have little support. AF1 takes the W for me.....
A website writes: "It’s important to avoid pairing black socks with light-colored pants, as this can create a harsh contrast". But it also writes "Black socks are a popular choice that can complement white sneakers". Why contrast is okay in one pair and not the other?
Can someone please tell me what is the difference between adidas stan smith and adidas stan smith j. I ordered stan smith in size 6.5 and I got stan smith j. Are they the same? What do I do ? Please help me
Hey Ashley and Dorian, My Stan Smith's keep getting scuffed. At some points the black leather is becoming visible. All the shoe polish I see is either black or transparent, so I don't know how to address this. Can you do a video about how Dorian keeps his shoes good for years? Thanks, Martijn
This seems like it’ll be a really interesting series! Looking forward to it. Maybe also grooming products and tools in addition to clothing items/shoes?
y'all are sleeping on Reebok Club C 85 Mu in chalk/black. They're much more comfortable and looks cleaner than the Stan Smith and the Continental 80. Hope to see a review on that sneaker.
I've got the blue back and recently bought triple white One of the best shoes if only the leather quality was better Very easy to clean too as much of the dirt comes off the shoe.
Lost me at cleaner design. Good video but thats the only thing that bothered me lol 😄 Also Stan Smiths green are the best out! Best way to clean them is with a Mr Clean Majic Eraser.

Guys. Stan Smith are Stan Smith. Period. There are no pros no cons. It's a no brainer. These shoes are legendary of course they re worth it.
Haha yeah
Alberto Rincon Yes there are cons, its too MAINSTREAMED
Alberto Rincon it’s leather. That’s a con for me but glad that Adidas itself has a cheaper “vegan version” of them
Stan Smith for me
a con is it has a stupid tongue with some idiots ugly face on it
The holes are so extremely necessary, they make the shoe more breathable (great in the heat)
They don’t go through the whole shoe; just the outer layer.
@@SIIKAP1 imagine that makes a difference. What's left is a thin breathable fabric. Ever wonder why convers has those two holes on the side...

Yeah i gues 100 bucks is okay for a good pair of kicks, but it ain't "very, very, very inexpensive"
I think they are talking about leather sneakers. When dealing with real leather shoes, the cheapest you can get is in the $60 - $70 price range. Stan Smith’s go for $80 on adidas and usuall have some sale attached to it. Definitely not cheap, but on the lower end its type

~$200: Greats royale blanco
~$300: Axel Arigato Clean 90
~$400: Common Projects

Nike Air Force 1 are a better option in the $100 range, they have a better built quality and won't get out of fashion any soon.
@@harunhasural Whaaaat? Stan Smith are in for 40 years. Nike Air Force one are 10 yrs younger.

I'm not from the US, but is $100 for a pair of shoes considered as 'Cheap' exactly in the US?Just asking.
- From 1 to 30 euros : low-range shoes (Unknown brands or brands known for selling low-price shoes)
- From 31 to 80 euros : middle-range shoes (Converse, Reebok, Fila, etc.)
- From 81 to 120 euros : "upper-middle" range shoes (Lacoste, Fred Perry, Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Nike, etc.)
- From 120 to 300 euros : high-range shoes (some Nike shoes like the Vapormax, or other shoes meant for special sports like pairs from Asics for instance)

What about the creasing and strings? Mine tend to crease and strings get way too dirty
Adidas Stan Smith good looking on feet, not comfy for a long city walk
I find it's comfortable for me.
I have these all white and a pair of italian all white leather dress shoes for the night out. Love these
My black monochrome Stan Smiths are definitely among my favorites. And after three years, they're still worth it. They're right up with my chucks.
Which of the two if you were to pick between stan smith or jack purcell?
Stan smith, my favorite 👟. Thank you guys for the video. 2 Thumbs up 👍👍
do you ever rock your Stans without socks??
@@loaferfetish nope. I Wear no show socks.
Getting my first pair in a couple days, really excited it. I’ll definitely get the whole white in the future
How important is the color of the back? As it would be my first pair of white sneakers should I stick to the all white one or can I use the color options with every outfit?
Stick with all white , it works with all types of dresses for different occasions be it casual look or a bit formal one
Not the same animal, but what do you think about the Nike Killshot 2’s? They always capture my attention, but not sure how versatile they’d be. Thoughts?
Is it normal that my Stan smith white shoes outsole is slippery when walking in some cement or tiles?
I like a worth it series, but maybe do a super cheap version, a mid range, and a hyper budget one and talk about the pros and cons of each.
How do you clean the shoelaces? personally i don't like his face on the shoe, instead i bought Fred Perry's white leather sneaker are they somewhat comparable?
So what's the difference with the one with the gold Embroidery and without it
Thank god you didn’t bash the classics
How are they for playing tennis though?
I love this new way of making the video! super dynamic, direct and entertaining! congrats! by the way, I love the Stan Smith! Such a classic and iconic sneaker! 🎾
Will they ever make these is a wide size? Any suggestions for a wide substitute?
I got the Stan Smith boost edition, the second release and it’s a tad wider than the regular Stan Smith that I own
Tbh they started breaking in for my wider feet
what color should i get?
I can see why people love the shor, but there are a few reasons why I don't.
1. Too common
2. Really bulbous / bulky toe box
3. Look really chunky
4. The holes on the sides
With that said they are an insane value and while I can't jump to the common projects, I would say epaulet trainers and greats (don't like the sides on greats royales either ) are great alternatives but come in at nearly 200 dollars.
I'm holding out to purchase the Epaulet but can absolutely understand why someone would not be interested in that kind of money on a shoe.
is the leather full grain
They’re pretty popular in Italy but I don’t see them getting used a lot in other countries, I don’t know why cause they’re so stylish
This, Vans Old Skool and Converse All Star are staples
Stan Smiths are attractive. It gives the vibe of I’m not trying too hard to look good.
Ashley, I think you’d like similar sneakers from the brand Clae called “Bradley”. They’re similar to these Stan Smiths, but they have a more minimalistic look without all the branding. They’re also very high quality.
@axw how do you suggest to maintain this white shoe ? because this white shoe got our dark jeans color. i got this issue now. please help.
Again great video :) but I would like to ask if the all white vans can be worth as well as these stan smith's? ;)
Can you wear them after Labor Day without someone calling the fashion police?
Compare to Flyknit Racers? I feel like they could be close in formality and versatility if you get all-white.
Stan smith will last you a long time / great quality and 100% worth it
How would the stan smiths compare with a pair from new republic in ur opinion
Ashley, I'd like to know...what is your opinion on Adidas Superstar trainers?
Have you seen the Cole Haan Grand Crosscourt II’s? If so, how would you compare the two? They’re pretty equal in price.
Stan Smith is soo common that’s why going for Lacoste Lerond white leather
The only thing I don’t like about these is that the toe box is bulky. I prefer white old skool vans. I love those
I want to thank Mr. Dorian turning the wheel a little bit, and say words of justice in favor of the amazing Adidas Stan Smith; this iconic and timeless white sneaker that everyone loves, and most of the white sneaker industry is trying to copy. It's often imitated but never replicated.
Can you make a video on Dorians watch collection, his collection seems pretty dope
Is there a wider size sneaker that is as versatile as Stan Smith? For the husky guys
perforated holes are stan smith's signature. people might as well choose another brand for a cleaner design hello, but solid stan smith forever
For me, the only downside of the Stan Smith is the big shoe tongue, I don't like it at all, it keeps coming out of the hem part of the pants and I think it destroys the whole look, is there any way to decrease it?
Liking the editing done on video. Good job
IDK, they are quite basic. I just wish the soles were a but thicker on them. I don't like shoes that are too flat or have little support. AF1 takes the W for me.....
White and green the only way to go
I usually wear size 40cm. What size would fit me in stansmith ?
worth it series?
A website writes: "It’s important to avoid pairing black socks with light-colored pants, as this can create a harsh contrast". But it also writes "Black socks are a popular choice that can complement white sneakers". Why contrast is okay in one pair and not the other?
Great comments, thanks for the video . This is my first pear of white sneakers
do you ever rock your Stand without socks?
Can someone please tell me what is the difference between adidas stan smith and adidas stan smith j. I ordered stan smith in size 6.5 and I got stan smith j. Are they the same? What do I do ? Please help me
Hey Ashley and Dorian,
My Stan Smith's keep getting scuffed. At some points the black leather is becoming visible.
All the shoe polish I see is either black or transparent, so I don't know how to address this.
Can you do a video about how Dorian keeps his shoes good for years?
Thanks,
Martijn
How is the fitting for the shoes? If I’m a 38
This seems like it’ll be a really interesting series!
What can anyone do to make a Stan Smith look "cleaner"? Their cleanness is why they've been around for 50 years,
Thanks. Bought a pair today for NZ$100 (a mere US$61).
I've got the blue back and recently bought triple white
One of the best shoes if only the leather quality was better
Very easy to clean too as much of the dirt comes off the shoe.
Hey Ashley! could you please do a video about skin tones? how does a man knows what colors should he wear depending on his skin tone?
Lost me at cleaner design. Good video but thats the only thing that bothered me lol 😄
Also Stan Smiths green are the best out!
Best way to clean them is with a Mr Clean Majic Eraser.
One thing is for sure.....
My man has been working out.
