Thank you for the video! Note that when putting the panel back on, at about 17:50 in the video, make sure to first install the ball end of the cable into the interior door handle mechanism.
+Scott McArthur Thanks for the tip!
impressive. and glad you spent time showing each detail. Now to decide if I want to tackle this myself or go to a mechanic
I noticed you said "almost" when trying to pick the linkage from the key. You were not successful. I would have liked to see the technique that WAS successful. That is the part I am having trouble with. The video was incomplete. Did you end up simply breaking the little red clip off and then need to buy a new clip?! I'm curious ....
Just when I was trying to push the exterior lock rod out of the red clip and was about to stop due to fear of breaking… it popped out😅. Thank God it didn’t break and I was able to push it back in with no trouble. I don’t know if you can get just the red clip. Wouldn’t be bad idea to have one handy. Maybe could get one at a pull a part
Just installed new actuator. It worked with door open a few times. Then I tested opening and closing door and was successful. Closed and locked door with the fob. Unlocked it and it wont open again. It should be noted that someone popped my key lock so it isn't connected inside. It has worked this way for 3 years until this week.
Any help is appreciated
Is the electrical connector on that door latch for the sensor that detects if the door is shut? Or is it to unlock the door with a FOB?
If I were to replace all 4, would I be needing to program anything or would I just need to reprogram the key fob
I am looking for a how to for a 2011 Silverado ext. cab rear door wont open video. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a 08 and trying figure out why my new actuator is not working. Fueses for power un lock and power lock 10, and 11. I pulled and are good . Ive un plugged and plugged the actuator and unplugged to make sure of getting good connections. 08 ext cab 2x4 5.3 lt Silverado
Did yall figure out the problem?
Just had the same problem. Had power at the fuse box but not at the actuator. Trace the wires up through the door into the boot. I had a broken tan wire in the door boot. Put a butt connector and heat shrink on it and good to go
@@stevenzwolinski1218 what's the boot? I've replaced mine. It works but doesn't lock or unlock. I'm a mechanic in learning from RUclips University
Helpful video but for the red clip rod you just pull it toward you. And it should come out, no need for a pick.
some of my door locks jam i’m trying to learn how to fix them. Dealership charging too much, $350 for each door.

+ed mills Thanks for the tip!
What if the door is closed and you can’t open it from the outside do you cut the panel open ?? How do you get door open if neither handles work an door is shut ...
I had that problem twice So, I took the bolts out of the door panel, easy. Then, I lifted hard on the panel to raise it to clear the window channel while freeing the upper left corner tabs of the panel. Next, I pulled the upper left panel towards me, reached in to pull the foam liner away from the butyl tape that secures the foam to the steel door. Then, with the window closed, I was able to get my arm into the door space (just barely and ending with a scratched-up arm, but no big deal). I just grabbed the cable going into the actuator, and give it a good tug toward the front of the vehicle. If the cable end is broken loose, you might need to pull the sheath off and pull the bare cable or even reach farther in to move the flipper on the actuator - not sure my arm would be long enough with out using a pick tool Make sure the both the manual and electric locks are NOT LOCKED when you pull on the cable. Well that is the idea and it work twice for me. Don't cut it panel, since it would be no easier IMHO ...
