-Google Now, 2015
+John Drachenberg Weird thing is that you can turn on captions on this video and it's pretty accurate !
That's the point of him putting hat part up. He is just being funny.
+John Drachenberg Google Now , more accurate than ever!
+John Drachenberg i had to borrow this comment to shut some idiot's mouth.....hope you're ok with it :)
Funnily enough I played that part into my phone and it got every word right
Bacon and Legs is the breakfast of champions.
😂
Voice Recognition identifies the voice that is speaking (authentication)
What you're talking about is Speech Recognition that extracts the words that are spoken.
@2:04 I thought my door bell rang up stairs and promptly went up to check...
you live in the basement dont you. lol
+Byte My Bits It's a basement dweller!
Yeap lol. Well, MY PC is in basement anyways. So basically live there lol
+Byte My Bits fair enough
voice recognition kinda like VR? No, it IS VR. Voice Recognition = VR
+Wolfenberg VR = virtual reality
+TooTallTodd /s
TooTallTodd I know but funny coincidence that it could stand for Voice Recognition also
Wolfenberg lol understandable ...I honestly wasn't sure if u was or not tho...a lot of stupid ppl out there next time add a lol or something so I don't look like one of them lol
TooTallTodd yeah too bad I can't add a tone to text, would have added kappa but nobody woulda really understood.
Opens youtube subtiltles...
Finds voice recognition errors...
@@epender no they are not
@@saturniunyttech679 Dude, that was three years ago, and tbh, I don't know what I was on about. I think I was referring to the fact that Google Voice recognition is much better than the RUclips recognition.
@@epender What a dedication

I'm watching this with automatically generated subtitles on and Google has really improved their voice recognition since 2 years ago. The voice recognition in 2:33 - 2:40 is bad, but now the subtitles on RUclips were perfect for that segment at least (haven't checked the entire video). Of course Linus articulates very well. Some other RUclipsrs don't, so RUclips doesn't understand them as well.
Everyone knows the Spork Store is next door to the Foon Emporium, duh.
Google's voice recognition should be GlaDOS, that ought to trump both Siri and Cortana. :)
+ApexPredator_ I prefer Jarvis.
+ApexPredator_ No love for HAL?
+ApexPredator_ Valve and Steam OS would like to have a word with you.
No, that needs to the the voice recognition for SteamOS
+Kit Blackheart GlaDOS and HAL weren't evil. They were just doing their jobs to the best of their abilities.

All the satire and context and that was the best transition :,)
you need to do an updated one to this year 2020! The future and beyond!
Everything is going to voice recognition now
I guess i'll have to manually search for the Spork Store i was looking for :(
you can remove background noise with programs like audacity, but you have to take a sample of it and you can't do it live.
That moment when you watch this video on a Samsung smart TV :/
Kudos for getting from '1984' to 'Squarespace'..
Wow u have been on RUclips for 13 years , how old are u
@@calebnonofurbusiness9036 Lets just say I was at university when I joined.. :-)
And you're new here, a week?
I think I'll refrain from asking you what age you are!
@@JoeBob79569 I’m 13 lol
@@calebnonofurbusiness9036 Damn, RUclips has been around since you were born, that's pretty crazy. It's a different world to when I was growing up!
This is speech recognition, not voice recognition. Voice recognition is when the system determines who is speaking, not what they're speaking.
Glad to see I am not the only one noticing this. Silly of us to expect a tech channel to get their terminology right.
I'm a computational linguist! Voice recognition is my thing! :)
I remember spending hours on end trying to IBM Via Voice, and Dragon Naturally Speaking to work back in the 90's for my late uncle who was a quad in a wheel chair, and even after hours of training it with his voice, it would either still get stuff wrong a lot, or pick up background noise making it useless with the Parrot mic. So I'm really glad we have things now like Google Now.
I just love cortana on xbox one, when I accidently tell a bad word cortana automaticly pops up in the middle of the game :D
YO! This was the hit i was looking for..Cool stuff!
i'll checkout that 1984 thing..it sounds interesting
My problem with google now it will get it right the first time but right before it gets ready to show me the results it just completely shits the bed.
RIght, but what happen if dont have internet? if only depence about your internet connection. dont have a basic solution offline on your phone
You guys find the best stock images
Google assistant on android auto is horrendous for me (british). Is there any way to train it to better recognise voices like microsoft dictation can? And on the flipside, can you add phonetic names to outlook like you can In Google?
Great Video :D
3:59 the first website was launched in 1993. Take it from a web developer
Audible would be a better sponsor mention in this video, with 1984 and all that
Wow !!!!
We made simple that on "Control Robotic Hand Using Speech Recognition Based on Neural Network"
How internet providers share data as fast as possible. (ex. if I view a website on my Verizon phone who's server is using Comcast, how do Comcast and Verizon communicate, what backbone do providers use)
is there anything watching it except for me in 2018? why i love watching teckquickie
Good overview. Voice recognition very useful for dictation, just don't turn the fan on. Less so in the cockpit due to voice stress. When I switched to Windows 10 I tried both Cortana and voice recognition and found that they didn't really improve things for me and it wasn't worth the privacy tradeoff so I disabled them. On the other hand I have a friend who is profoundly visually impaired who finds it and reading programs essential.
Spork store.
I can imagine the voice recognition in fighter aircraft being limited to doing barrel-rolls and nothing else
3:18 - is it dennis there with a yellow Tshirt?
These tech quickies have gotten a lot better
Linus, you never disappoint me!
Wait, is my Ryzen 7
2800x relatively slow? Is my Core i9 7080 relativly slow? Have I been living a lie?
I died when they referenced dennis' accent
I turned on automatic subtitle generation for this
10/10 would eat "big collects" again
OH MY HOW OLD ARE U U HAVE BEEN HERE FOR 14 YEARS
Best transition... 😂
0:23 Shots fired
/clap, GJ Linus and your team.
I built my PC through your teachings.
Thanks.
Spork Store 8D aaaaahh im dying
I just wanna ask, what's the difference between speech recognition and voice recognition? Tyia
is google liseing to us whenever we have computer on?
linus is. love linus is live...
Suggestion: How do coaxial cables carry so much data?
Dragon is pretty awesome, I use it whenever possible. But NEVER trust it! Always check what it transcribed.
2:04
oh, the door! let me go get it..
Gaddamnit linus
Now they predict the wrong words and completely misunderstanding what you said or even searh the web when you're not asking it to
3:23 I thought the video was over because he said, "and speaking of ..." I hit pause but then shortly realized that I wasn't done with the video ha.
Your pulse way ad was nice
Ends this decent speech with an ad.
Dude 3:17 is the night market in my hometown in Taichung, Taiwan. How you get that photo?
Great segue.

I was in another tab when Linus ambushed me with his anger at 2:56
j.a.r.v.i.s was a pretty cool voice recogition program to play with
😠TO FIGURE OUT HOW YOU'RE FEELING😠
Anyone else notice the google words on scree where not what he was saying
anyone's else uni put this video (and some others) as a lecture and called it a day
Voice Recog. captions for this video are actually pretty good, only a couple of words wrong
Is it just me or has the video quality improved immensely over the last few LTT vids
I think a video on WEP or cryptology would be a fascinating episode. Maybe branch that off into areas like wardriving?
Anyone notice Dennis in the crowd at 3:18?
2:56 Just to make sure if we're paying attention and an example.
This is really the type of content tak makes Linus true "Tech RUclipsr". The others just basically read phone tech specs, shoot some fancy shots and call themselves "tech youtuber". Thumbs up!
+Techquickie Could you do Chromebooks as fast as possible? I feel like people get some misconceptions of what they are. I'd also love you to do more reviews of them or just suggest which one is your favorite. I just ordered the Acer 11 inch kind of hastily because it was so cheap and you didn't do too many reviews of them. I custom built a desktop with a lot of help from Linus tech tips and felt like I needed a little laptop to help with easy day to day tasks at school like typing papers on the go. Keep up the good work and thanks!
3:20 i generally dont stand in the middle of the street... for reasons...
Please am looking for software developers that can make a voice programmed software.
Am I the only one that never used any of this ?
Square space a long time sponsor ay
You guys need some black boarding around Linus, he's got a fairly noticeable green tinge from the greenscreen.
You are the Linus guy!
Now do one on why Cortana isn't available in Canada
2:04 made me go all the way downstairs and through the house to open the front door because I thought someone was ringing the doorbell. No one rings my goddamn doorbell!
I was setting a voice recognition password for my phone and a dog nearby barked and run away. Now I'm still looking for that dog to unlock my phone....
what happened to recognizing who's speaking?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEveeeeeery time... he has to pull out that phone...
voice recognition does NOT suck. it's actually miraculously advanced and intelligent. language comes to us so easily that we think there's nothing to it, but just to parse a simple sentence requires an entire lifetime of experience.
video on what vsync is
So isn't this meant to be on vessel for 7 days before it is here
3:21 has Dennis been photoshopped onto that picture?
Watch this with closed captions so you can Xzibit this puppy up.
