The clips shown above is a low profile solution. Avoiding hitting on the high line. For example in Security context you want to avoid that. When I cannot avoid and escape..and when the threat is high..I would go for the high line. With other words..knock him out asap. Neutralize the threat is the objective in that case. If I would use a flashlight I would use it like a hammerfist structure with a constant offensive forward pressure. Avoid buying the flashlight with the sharp edges on the front. Good luck explaining in court why his forehead is shredded to pieces. I would go for blunt force trauma and knocking him out. If I cannot avoid, escape or de-escalate the situation that is.
