Quick tip, when you're working on other stuff, you can "disable in viewport" the liquid domain, Your object list>funnel icon top right, tick disable in viewport>click on disable in viewport icon next to liquid domain object that will speed everything up until you're working on the liquid material

At 14:43 Your Liquid domain is visible in wire frame. But when you switch to solid it disappears ? How did you make the cube disappear? For me the box is a solid cube and blocks my pipe / fluid? (I probably missed a step, 2nd ever time using blender :S ) Edit: I had to bake the settings and also the fluid mesh. I didnt realize they were two diffent bakes.
So you'd have to scale it up and increase the water resolution. Keep in mind increasing the water resolution increases the load on your PC and Al the bake and render time
@VG Leviathan is there a way to fill a pool up and when it reachs max the water stops flowing, its for a game I am make with UE 5 its going to be a Coolant Pool for a Reactor.
This is an interesting project does it only fill up once? If so you could use key frames to stop it when it gets to the right point switch off the flow

If anyone is trying this in 4.1/4.2 it's possible you need to turn your Y velocity up some. Try turning it up to 50-200. You can also try turning up the Sampling in the domain object to spawn more particles.
Great video. As someone already mentioned your voice is awesome and nice to listen to. My glass is reflecting some weird greenish (maybe leaves idk) background and isnt clear after all. Hi there thanks for the comment. Are you using and HDRI for the lighting? Could be causing your reflections. The domain can definitely interfere with the flow of water through the tube's as that what dictates where liquid is present.
Thanks for the tutorial! Does starting with a plane make this possible? I modeled similarly but using an archemedian curve so the planar fluid selection won't work. Any ideas?

in my experience this is simply not possible. Even with phoenix FD witch is widely considered one of the best sim programs. Anyway if it is i would love to know how. I have been able to cheat this effect with some shades but the result was sub-par. or even with "fome particals" -not so good
Hi VC Leviathan! I am following along with Blender 2.90.1 and there are some issues... - Increasing the time scale will increase the speed and not decrease it. Your settings will produce very slow fluid flow. - Then, the water flow will be weaker than in the video. I set Y Initial velocity to 5 m/s and it improved. But still, I get mostly blue particles. I am not sure what the default particle colors mean, but my water feels more "calm" than yours... Thanks for the great work!

Doesnt work for me too but you could just go to the View tab on the right and look for Lock camera to view. Just pan around to get the right view then disable it after.

How do you get water to collide with an object? And how did you render the full water simulation? Because usually it just renders the picture, was it made by rendering all the frames and putting it in the video editor?
Yeah I render the frames and then sequence them in the editor. To have water collide with an object you set the object to effector in its physics properties

Hi! Your tutorials are fantastic! I'm trying to fill a water jug with liquid, so it stays full, but the water will move if you move the jug around. Is this possible? If so, how do you do it? I'm having a really hard time figuring it out!
Does anyone know why the Domain is still visible for me? Even in the Solid Viewport it's visible and I can't see anything inside it. I know I can click on X-ray, but it will still be there in my render. (I think)

So iv noticed with this simulation I had to scale up the pipe and sphere. Also set the resolution for your water to at least 100. U can do it in the domain settings
Try udjusting the particle resolution higher if the resolution is low the particles are too big to move through the pipe also try baking the simulation again

@@vgleviathan911 I want to do a scence where its like moses parting the red sea. But instead of the red sea its a kiddy pool. When I use the wind effects its either not strong enough or then it jumps to way too strong and makes the water fly everywhere
while i do think you explained it pretty well and it is helpful, i think if you just showed the steps clearly and edited them effectively with some post pro commentary this whole video could have been 5-6 minutes long, which i would like more... but still nice work
You can increase the resolution in the domain settings this will increase the number of particle. Keep in mind though it also takes more resources when doing so
I’m going to have to go over this video maybe more than once cos you lost me over resizing the pipe. Mine looks fat whereas yours looks like a proper pipe.
1) Try enlarge the pipe and sphere. 2) make sure that "is planar" is selected for your pipe in its physics settings. 3) Make sure the resolution of your water is set to at least 100 in the domain settings. If it's set lower the particles are to big to move through your pipe. Please let me know if this helped
That animation looks really bad. A lot of simulation programs aver very specific to the size of the simulation. I'm not sure what the preferred size is in blender, but it should make things move in a much more realistic manner if you find it. Generally, If you go too big, everything moves in slow motion and if you go too small, everything moves too fast. Another issue is the Meshing of the water is way too blobby, making it look very unrealistic. So far I haven't found anyone doing anything more than the basic "look, it's water" with the same crappy results. I guess that's what I should expect from a free package.
Hey man I'm sorry you that way. So at the moment my tutorials focus on people with standard to low range gaming computers. If you have better hardware you can achieve very realistic animations and simulation.

100% this video has become dated rather quickly. I have recently started with 4.1 and have found that things have changed for blender liquid sims.

If your sphere is too small you domain resolution need to be raised making the particles smaller

some of the water particles got stuck on the inside of the pipe for me? do you know why?
Could be the particles are too large so try raising the value of the resolution in your domain settings. Or it water being left behind in the pipe.

Is Mantaflow the default in Blender, or do I need to find an addon?
It is the default, though there is a flip fluid add on (Premium Unfortunately) that gives you greater control over the build in system
Did the same thing as u (but with smaller sphere and pipe), and it doesn't work, water doesn't get out the sphere

How do you bake so fast!?
The baking speed depends on the amount of RAM your PC has and the resolution of your simulation. Higher resolution equals longer bake.

So to resize the pipe u resize the bezier circle. This is before you convert the pipe to a mesh.
