My 88 year old uncle had a similar injury. Ended his biker days, but he felt lucky to go to 87, and recovery took 6 months, but he's doing great now, back to his very active life. Glen is younger, I'm sure he'll be back to Harleying & camping with Steve soon!

Speedy recovery to crazy neighbor. Now that I'm 63, I'm even more cautious about where I put my feet. Car trips when I was a child always involved me looking out of the window and fantasizing living in different, usually "non-house" places. Whenever I ride the train and can look out of the window at leisure, I still do that. I also have always wanted to camp/stay in a maintenance shack on top of an old building. This is the first time I've told anyone these things because I always thought it was my own personal bit of weirdness that no one else shared. Thanks for showing me that I was wrong.
My "thought exercise" for a few decades has been looking at the median on the interstate for spots one could hide in/camp. Nobody has really shared my level of interest and I too felt it was just me. I'm glad I'm not the only person!
I have a daughter who is fascinated by water towers , it’s just her reminder of where we been & where we’re going … but she really knows all the interesting fun facts about them … u will drive by a random water tower & she’ll know know many gallons or tons it holds & how often they inspect it 😂😂 #howsThatForWeird lol lbs she’s knows everything about water towers, she reads & studies about them for everywhere we go (some of it is pretty interesting tho actually)
I myself can relate to this , I have so many things I wish I could do & explore…. I wouldn’t trade my family for 100, 1000 million million + dollars , but so much I wish I could see & do but RUclips lets me watch it & live vicariously… it’s prob safer this way , but I wish could know this kind of freedom & explore what’s out there… I don’t want to visit glamorous tourist places, I went to discover mysteries in the middle of nowhere , & see what mother nature made out there, hop a train, life off the earth. Seems beautiful

My toddler loves these videos. They've just the right pace to not be super overstimulated, no swearing and it's not obnoxious RUclips kids junk that makes me want to tear my hair out, it's something we can watch together.
Steve, Chef here... So, you had a decent chance at making a sauce believe it or not. The quality of the cheese you get from a convenient store was probably the biggest culprit. Shredded cheese actually is coated in a thin layer of starch. The problem is the ham expels water, and the cheese expels oil. Those two aren't friends without the aid of an emulsifier. Believe it or not there are many pantry staples that can be used to emulsify. Any easy on in this instance would be mustard. Another option would have been to use the ham as a "bread" and make grilled cheese. Then simply slap it onto your tortilla and walla. Good Content. Thank you!

Great Video .. When I was homeless back in 1990, I slept under bridges at night by using roadside hi vis orange plastic barrier netting strung up with paracord to make a hammock, with a blanket lining in it, it was fairly warm, out of the way of people and reasonably safe. Then in the day I used it to hide my rucksack up under the bridge when I needed to go into the local town. The older style iron railway bridges were best and had gantrys and walkways you could get up onto to string the "hammock" on.

The part of me that's half Mexican & lives in Arizona was screaming at the TV, "Run the tortilla over the flame!" Homemade tortillas warmed up on a gas stove with real fire was a thing of my childhood. I discovered that point for the first time last night after watching a foodie show on SBS television channel. San Antonio was the city - showed the history of Tex Mex as well. Showcased the old fashioned way of how the real corn is used to make the real tortillas and over the flame - the real corn test a winner.
I thought exactly the same thing. I also think he should have just roasted the ham in the pot and added the rest as is. That would have tasted better. But hey, this cheese paste is also definitely tasty when camping. Everyone as he likes.
@byronsonne6974 just make sure you don't leave it there. I usually heat one part for about 5 second then spin it and continue doing that and then flip it over and repeat on the opposite side. It really depends on what type of tortilla and the size.
Found your content randomly last year and I’m very glad I did. You remind me of the days as a kid where I would pack a sandwich in a bag with a buck knife and spend the day following the brook behind my house until it got dark. There is a child like wonder to your content, and I’m sure that everyone else that watches feels the same. Thank you Steve, you bring joy and tranquility to more people than you think.
My rescue Dalmatian has horrible storm and nighttime anxiety. I watch Steve when I am up with him and it actually calms him down. So crazy it works, but I am forever thankful to this guy. We are majorly missing Crazy Neighbour 😊
i like the fact that not only do you clean up after yourself, you also do your best to clean up after the people that camped at places before you, it really shows how much respect you have for the outdoors and the places you camp,
I'm a hard-core rules & regs person when it comes to the outdoors, but Steve's approach to stealth is so wholesome, and he applies the meaningful rules to what he does, so he always leaves a site better, even if no one ever knows it is an occasional campground lol! I really want to stealth some day, we'll see if I ever get the guts lol
I've always had a rule that I follow when I go out camping or even just hiking or canoeing. I have to pick up a minimum of 3 items before I leave. On a few very rare occassions, I've had to leave nearly or completely empty handed.
Steve’s videos have frequently been my way of unwinding and getting ready for bed. His constantly calm demeanor and the way he can make a comfortable home anywhere he is puts day to day “problems” into perspective. It is with great humility that say the perfect thickener for the ham and cheese soupy filling was the extra tortillas. Torn up tortillas or crushed tortilla chips break down quickly in liquid and will easily thicken soups or sauces. Tortilla chips also work as excellent fire starters.

I have, however, been using the Hennesy deep jungle hammock for about 5 years now, so I thought you may appreciate the feedback being a hennesy head. It has that double layer of fabric at bottom where the reflective sleeping pad fits in between the layers. Otherwise, I tend to lose far too much bum heat. It does help a lot. Also, metal rings on carabiners (2 small aluminum rings from MEC OR wherever per carabiner) attached to your tree straps works amazing to hang hammock. It creates a self locking tension system in two seconds. No knots required! The tail end goes around the 2 rings once and then down the middle of the two pieces of rope that was just created from the loop going around carabiner. just . Just pull the line for tension. No need to do anything else. Locks on own.Makes for easy adjustments as well. Ypu only need enough slack on line when starting.I am sure there is a video on it somewhere out there on the www. Keep up all your great work. It's also very easy to pee overboard from hammock into a dedicated wide mouth water bottle with simple practice, it becomes a game changer.The mummy sleeping bags are also horrible for the hammock. Noticed you commented on the mummy in a different video.Thanks again for all you are doing.

oh man. I needed this video today. The mosquitos, the spiders, the rain, and Steve enduring a night out under a bridge made me reflect on my work weeks ups and downs and general feel bad and it all seemed a little less awful. I guess we all have to endure and learn to laugh at (or at least smile wryly at) "the we're doing our best but there's only so much we can control" stuff that happens in everyday life. Thanks Steve. For the reminder that there's always some good/nice along with the tough parts of life. This is my all time favorite episode. I have come back to watch it over and over. Anytime I need to laugh, I watch this one. I watch this with my boyfriend, we laugh so hard every time. So, you had a decent chance at making a sauce believe it or not. The quality of the cheese you get from a convenient store was probably the biggest culprit. Shredded cheese actually is coated in a thin layer of starch. The problem is the ham expels water, and the cheese expels oil. Those two aren't friends without the aid of an emulsifier. Believe it or not there are many pantry staples that can be used to emulsify. Any easy on in this instance would be mustard.
Another option would have been to use the ham as a "bread" and make grilled cheese. Then simply slap it onto your tortilla and walla.

Great Video .. When I was homeless back in 1990, I slept under bridges at night by using roadside hi vis orange plastic barrier netting strung up with paracord to make a hammock, with a blanket lining in it, it was fairly warm, out of the way of people and reasonably safe. Then in the day I used it to hide my rucksack up under the bridge when I needed to go into the local town. The older style iron railway bridges were best and had gantrys and walkways you could get up onto to string the "hammock" on.
Man I just lost my job today and I needed some positive vibes like this. Thank you for the good times always Steve ❤

Homemade tortillas warmed up on a gas stove with real fire was a thing of my childhood. I discovered that point for the first time last night after watching a foodie show on SBS television channel. San Antonio was the city - showed the history of Tex Mex as well. Showcased the old fashioned way of how the real corn is used to make the real tortillas and over the flame - the real corn test a winner.
I'm a gringo and I always heat my tortillas over an open flame on the stove.
I thought exactly the same thing. I also think he should have just roasted the ham in the pot and added the rest as is. That would have tasted better. But hey, this cheese paste is also definitely tasty when camping. Everyone as he likes.
@byronsonne6974 just make sure you don't leave it there. I usually heat one part for about 5 second then spin it and continue doing that and then flip it over and repeat on the opposite side. It really depends on what type of tortilla and the size.

You remind me of the days as a kid where I would pack a sandwich in a bag with a buck knife and spend the day following the brook behind my house until it got dark. i like the fact that not only do you clean up after yourself, you also do your best to clean up after the people that camped at places before you, it really shows how much respect you have for the outdoors and the places you camp,
I'm a hard-core rules & regs person when it comes to the outdoors, but Steve's approach to stealth is so wholesome, and he applies the meaningful rules to what he does, so he always leaves a site better, even if no one ever knows it is an occasional campground lol! I really want to stealth some day, we'll see if I ever get the guts lol
I've always had a rule that I follow when I go out camping or even just hiking or canoeing. I have to pick up a minimum of 3 items before I leave. On a few very rare occassions, I've had to leave nearly or completely empty handed.
Steve’s videos have frequently been my way of unwinding and getting ready for bed. His constantly calm demeanor and the way he can make a comfortable home anywhere he is puts day to day “problems” into perspective. It is with great humility that say the perfect thickener for the ham and cheese soupy filling was the extra tortillas. Torn up tortillas or crushed tortilla chips break down quickly in liquid and will easily thicken soups or sauces. Tortilla chips also work as excellent fire starters.
Not only do we like to watch stealth camping and cooking from you but we watch consistently because of you Steve. Speedy recovery to Glen!

I have, however, been using the Hennesy deep jungle hammock for about 5 years now, so I thought you may appreciate the feedback being a hennesy head. It has that double layer of fabric at bottom where the reflective sleeping pad fits in between the layers. Otherwise, I tend to lose far too much bum heat. It does help a lot. Also, metal rings on carabiners (2 small aluminum rings from MEC OR wherever per carabiner) attached to your tree straps works amazing to hang hammock. It creates a self locking tension system in two seconds. No knots required! The tail end goes around the 2 rings once and then down the middle of the two pieces of rope that was just created from the loop going around carabiner. just . Just pull the line for tension. No need to do anything else. Locks on own.Makes for easy adjustments as well. Ypu only need enough slack on line when starting.I am sure there is a video on it somewhere out there on the www. Keep up all your great work. It's also very easy to pee overboard from hammock into a dedicated wide mouth water bottle with simple practice, it becomes a game changer.The mummy sleeping bags are also horrible for the hammock. Noticed you commented on the mummy in a different video.Thanks again for all you are doing.

oh man. I needed this video today. The mosquitos, the spiders, the rain, and Steve enduring a night out under a bridge made me reflect on my work weeks ups and downs and general feel bad and it all seemed a little less awful. I guess we all have to endure and learn to laugh at (or at least smile wryly at) "the we're doing our best but there's only so much we can control" stuff that happens in everyday life. Thanks Steve. For the reminder that there's always some good/nice along with the tough parts of life. I’ve said this before but I have to reiterate. Steve is an inspiration to me and I’m positive many others. Watching his adventures always help me relax after a long day at work and right before I hit the hay.
Exactly. Woke up at 1:30 a.m. and thought I would watch Steve to drift off to while “hunkered down” here with my Chihuahua.
I liked the almost spooky vibe this one had. Dark and stormy night? check. Satanic graffiti? Check. Sparking utility pole? Check. Weight lifting spiders on the edge of a marsh? Check and check. This would have been a good Halloween episode.
