I've guarded the Ohio class and welded on the LA class submarines. I'm a plank owner with the MCSFCO. (Marine barracks) NSB Kings Bay Ga. I was stationed there 16 months. I went to Desert Shield/Storm too. 2 tours of the middle east total. Also worked for PNS in Maine as a welder and served as a union officer for the Boilermakers. I'm very excited to see this new class of boat. Submarines are still the most technologically advanced marvel of the modern age. Proud of my history with them. I'm retired. Great video. Well done.

Thank you for your hard work and the Russians have no idea of some of the newer subs that are coming up that cannot even be detected and the missiles and torpedoes they carry will hunt down any kind of Russian submarine

Nothing in the video was secret at all, it is all publicly available information, the Congressional funding of it was no secret. Columbia is back to the future, with 16 missile just like the original 41 for freedom.

Yes and so does the submarine force, that is why it has not occurred since. Also, the guys who build em, go on the sea trials, so if it goes does, they go down too, so there is that motivation to do a good job,

Wasn't aware an actual Columbia class submarine had actually been completed. The goal was by 2028. Don't see how it can "shock" the world when it hasn't even been completed.

This sub is using old technology about 10-15 years ago. It would be like a sitting duck that can easily be detected, tracked and blown up by the latest Chinese very hi-tech, high speed, undetectable & trackless torpedoes if it roams the South China Sea. 😊
But it carries only 16 missiles, meanwhile it predecessor, the Ohio class carries 24.

Why aren't the US submarines built with two propellers? It could make them faster and more maneuverable. Also build a more robust hull to avoid collapse or compromise.
Speed is not nearly as important as being quiet. A noisy submarine is a quickly dead submarine.

it will do over 100 patrols being at sea for about 75% of the time with 2 crews. Taxpayers more than get their moneys worth.

And, China has the largest army in the world with all of the surface equipment included. But, it can only be transported on the ground. So, unless they are going to invade Russia, India, or North Korea, it's just one very large Bullseye from the air. Also the Chinese military spends 50% of their time in parade preparation and listening to Communist propaganda. Along with the vast corruption in their military it's a wonder that anything actually works.

I served aboard a Nuc sub from 1976 to 1980 during the cold War the American submarines are the top reason we didn't go to war and are the reason we have not gone to war to this date. The destruction that these vessels would cause would bring about the end of life on this planet as we know it. So before you go speaking about things you obviously know nothing about and i am assuming you have never served in the military try thinking before you speak and thank God that men and woman are protecting people like you who can't protect themselves or just never had the ba//s to try.

Winston, the US is forced to have a military that can protect itself against the likes of Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and a few other bad actors. Seawolf is a different type submarine, also submarines share technology too, so what was good for Seawolf, makes it to other submarines that come after it. Just like with everything else in the military.
