Been playing C&C for about 10 years and zero regrets, love it so much and it’s all I’ll run now.

@@NorseFoundry two things immediately spring to mind. I like that the characters are not super heroes and the mechanics/tone of the game feel like I am playing a better version of AD&D.

I do like games that are a bit grittier and less superhero feeling -Jay

I think that was the intent when they originally wrote it, with Gary Gygax involved. It's been said that this is what 3rd edition DND would have been if Gygax had stayed with TSR. @@Decado1628

I got my intro to Castles & Crusades at Gary Con XV and I now I'm just done with 5E and WOTC. Old school feel, but modern mechanics. The game is a total blast.

C&C has been discribed as AD&D 2.75 to me which is close IMO. Roll over system (no THAC0), 2nd ed classes, introduction of cantrips, attribute tests rather than skills. I have the 7th ed PHB and just backed the latest reprinting which is noe OGL free. Good stuff.

What I love about C&C is that you can use any OSR stuff and put it into the system very easily. I plan to run Barrowmaze using the C&C system. I really don't have to do much work to make it work in C&C
