My vote? A spin off show where the judges have to all the most difficult challenges under the exact conditions the models did them....I’d watch it...

Check out Asias Next Top Model. All the episodes are on youtube and its all about the fashion, none of this ridiculous obstacle course bullshit, lol...well, alittle bit in season 3 but minimal and much less humiliating than this.
Molly confirmed in an interview that they actually did this runway twice. The first time no one fell, so production greased up the runway and told the girls to walk faster the second time.

As a designer I can say that no designer in their right mind would want their collection, that probably took so much work and effort to put together, to be presented in a runway show where the least important thing are the clothes and the models are potentially getting hurt. Just ridiculous. The show is to see how many girls fall and gives no real work experience.

Exactly. When I saw the episode I was thinking "why?? Can you even see the dresses?"
It would have been better had Tyra really worked on teaching these new models the ins and outs of the profession, the best ways to present themselves and the designs they model, and ways to set themselves apart from the others. The reality of modeling and what is expected. Help the girls develop a real portfolio that they can actually use. The show probably would have been taken more seriously by the industry instead of a reality show where the girls are put in off-the-wall scenarios where they are laughed at and embarrassed or openly insulted by the panel. Of course, it's the crazy off-the-wall stuff that attracts an audience.
The producers were sadistic with these ridiculous challenges, at times putting them in actual danger. Back then I was a kid so it was amusing, now not so much. I actually feel very sorry for them.

There were a lot of shootings which were up multiple miles in the sky so lots of the models obviously had problems with those and they completely exploit them crying and being scared ....

I think she was referring to high fashion modeling. This was a high fashion cycle and the prize was to be in Vogue Italia, which is much different than Sports Illustrated and VS.
I was thinking the same thing of Cindy Crawford, Elle McPherson, etc. the SuperModels were partially super because of the MEN who loved them.
The Vs show isn't really made for men, however statistically men are the ones who watch it the most. The swimsuit one I don't think is as much of a valid point as it's practically just wearing a swimming costume.
They actully did the runway twice, since nobody falls on the first one.

In the asian version the mentors and some judges do it first to prove that is possible.

Every time Tyra gives one of those speeches I wonder how can the models keep a straight face and not burst out laughing. I keep imagining the girls before the judging, betting on what phrases would Tyra use that day.
They start throwing money back and forth to one another “pay up! I knew she was going to comment about someone being pretty but not a model!” “No girl! You placed your bets on a different phrase!’”
They all seemed to worship Tyra while on the show so I doubt it and with cameras being on u 24/7 you’re forced to act like Tyra is a god
That'd have been a triumph. But let's not be naive... If only these poor grls hadn't been soo manipulated, teared down& punished for nothing in every single step, put into the pressure cooker or more accurately insane asylum & ripped off their freakin' human rights, individuality, self-esteem and -consciousness. They twisted their awarness and perception of EVERYTHING. You can name any act that's wrong towards another human being - they did it. And some girls took it better, some couldn't. You know, in every judgment the girls had to wake up early in the morning just to go waiting (&usually fighting each other) for 8 hours in one small room - and then go in front of the panel and get their "feedback", which is a whole episode itself and i'm not gonna go into that rite now 'cos the rant would be endless.. All i'm saying is that it might feel easy at this point in your right mind to toss around ideas and such but i know these gals did everything they could, gave everything they had &IF they'd have it any easier, trust me, they'd torn and burn the place down.

i will never understand why the judges always complain about the models’ personalities not coming through in their photos, but then make them change their clothes and accessories during judging. make up your mind - do you want to see their personalities or nah?

That'a a Gamsbart, they are traditional german hat ornaments for Trachten. They are made from chamois bucks (traditionally at least, other are made from deer, badger, thar or hog fur) and it's real craftsmen ship that's hard to learn as they are completly made by hand. Considering the size he's got on his hat this one is probably worth over 1000$.

I've been in bubbles like those on water. They are a pain to move in, that's the whole reason they're fun at a fair, you can't stand long in the water. When you have to get out someone has to drag the bubble out. This is just an excuse to humiliate them, the girls did really good under the circumstances but it was still an awful runway choice.

exactly! i've never managed more than 2 steps in one of those and once a life gaurd forgot about me and i started running out of air.
Watching these episodes as an adult now, I realize that Tyra is that girl in high school who acted like your best friend but really just set you up for humiliation. The stuff they did to these poor girls. And Jay is the worst.
I picture them talking so much smack behind the scenes in the hotel laughing, being snide and nasty.
The ball is covered in confetti on the inside, water on the outside. It's a miracle they're able to see them at all in that hamster ball.

Here is some actual tea for this challenge, confirmed by Kasia and Molly: They made the models do the runway TWICE, because no body fell down the first time. That is just pathetic.
"When did hands on hips become in fashion?" I'm sorry, when did giant hamster balls become in fashion?? Also, I think the point of the confetti was to block their view of the runway under the guise of a snow globe effect. You can see in some shots that the way it settles on the bottom of the ball it's even wider than the runway itself.
Especially since you can't exactly see the outfits the girls are modeling through the hamster ball and the stupid confetti.

@@kuri_star sadly yes. Both Molly and Kasia have recently confirmed that they were made to do it twice because no one fell the first run.
Molly said that they sprayed the runway down with cooking spray, to make it extra slippery for the second go.
They included the shot of the guy lubing up the runway in the episode, so it's pretty much confirmed that oil was involved 🤷♀️

As a Hindu girl i loved seeing the girl wearing a peacock feather!! Very beautiful and respectably placed. (The peacock feather is respected in Hindu / South Asian culture because of the association with God Krishna who wore a peacock feather in his hair as well).

I went with Mom to a model agency and they asked If I wanted to be there, which I thought was weird because we had an appointment. Later they said things to make me cry. My mom bitched them out and we left...it was really intimating! This was like ages ago, in the 90s

And you can wear them. They are not sacred, we sell them to tourists all the time. They have no religious meaning whatsoever they are just a really old fashion trend a king started. Wearing them is fine, no cultural appropriation whatsoever, doesn't make anything he said better though.

JESSICA! the girls also did a FIRE RUNWAY on the 4th episode, which was DRAMATIC and literally explosive. Hope you could react to it too! :) Alexandria and Brittani slayed that. It is actually way more treacherous than this runway challenge.

I shoot backstage in Tokyo. Looks very similar to a Godox PB960 that I use . You can get it for a few hundred bucks . Since this series was many years ago, probably a different model but the Godox does the trick!

This would never happen on a fashion runway. There's no point of this challenge. Designers have shows to present collections not to make models look silly. Plus you can't even see the clothes behind a stupid ball lol

My uncle was the photographer at my mums wedding and he tried to get us to pose for 'candid' pictures and they turned out horrible because I was so conscious of him it was so awkward 😭😂😂
Same sort of thing happened at my sister's wedding. She had found a wedding photographer to shoot candid photos of her and her husband. The photographer instead took posed pictures that LOOKED candid.

Hi Jessica! If you're interested in reacting to other extreme runways I have a recommendation. In Cycle 15 there was a fashion show where the runway actually jutted out from the top of a building. It looks terrifying and pointless because I still don't undestand how anyone would actually be able to see the clothes.
Seeing the judges laugh at the girls really exposes the show. All the judges deserve to do every single runway and photo challenge. Period.
Hands up if you want to see a series that comprises Tyra and the Jays enduring the challenges they set the models.
When the model in the white dress almost broke her neck on the edge of the runway and the judge sits there comfortably in his chair and yell; "Stay fabulous!" while laughing...God! I'm usually not violent but...that struck a nerve in me!
I am actually a big fan of Russell James, his work with victorias secret captured some stunning images, even thought I don't agree with VS as a brannd, he has some serious skill and works so well with the models
They all just humiliated them it's pure evil :( I hate to think how it affected the confidence of the girls too :(

GNTM is currently airing, I guess they just tested everyone like they have to for any TV show filming. But I would consider watching it, if everyone was in a bubble, that would be hilarious!

Honestly, I think this "bubble runway" actually seems like an amazing concept if executed flawlessly.
Season 16 really does have EVERYTHING. The bubble runway is ABSURD, and I love this photoshoot.
Another problem with this show is that we see only one photo- I don't believe they actually pick the 'best' photo for everyone
So a little bit of tea: Molly from this cycle said in an interview that the first time the models did the runway challenge everyone did it well. So they shot it a second time with the producers spraying PAM inside their bubbles so that the models would fall on the second walk

A lot of their clothes are also so long they are stepping on them. And "taking long strides" is the opposite of what you should be doing trying to walk in that bubble

@@piau1798 I've been in one many times too, and oxygen is not disappearing that quickly... I spend half of an hour on water in the bubble, they're inside for a few minutes.

3,5 hours, so max 15 minutes it's not dangerous - people are doing this for fun, you can rent a bubble even for your kid.
I honestly would love to do this runway. This is probably the only one Jessica has covered so far where I honestly didn't think it was that bad at all. A little humiliating? Yes. But falling in heels on a regular runway is also humiliating and it happens to models all the time.
@@piau1798 sounds like maybe you had some sort of panic attack or something. I've been in them many times at the lake and we have stayed in them for an hour+ sometimes with absolutely zero oxygen problems.

Weight is indeed an indicator of poor or good health. Someone who is severely underweight will suffer because of that. Someone obese meaning severely overweight too, as long as the weight stays within the healthy range of the WHO everything is fine tho don't get me wrong as long as it is healthy. And no one should be shamed for their weight regardless. Anyway plus sized people mostly have a healthy weight, some don't tho. As well as traditional models are sometimes underweight.

"What's the point of the confetti" to obscure their vision more so that they can slip for TV drama.
I just love that Jessica is always giving notes on how she might've taken the photos differently, which brings in that photography is obviously a collaborative process and most of the burden falls on the photographer! It's not all on the models, like this show likes to pretend!

I’ve been in one of those balls before on vacation for fun. Its hard to breathe, and literally impossible to have any control when you’re in water. We were just rolling around like crazy, and it was fun cuz we were playyying, not freaking modelling.
