I'm not a great artist by any means, but i get so frustrated when i mess something up, or when things take too long. I look at great artists' works and think, what use is it when i'll never be good enough? I stumbled on your instagram page and found myself here, watching the entire video without skipping. I am absolutely floored by how you just kept reworking everything until you were happy with it. It reminded me of how much work really goes into a finished piece and made me feel a little less miserable. I really needed this today.
Love your content! I've always been into this type of art and after watching your videos I feel confident enough to try it out. Going to invest in some nice sumi brushes. Appreciate you!
Oh man! You are awesome! Had been wanting to learn these type of painting but not one is as detail as you and kind enough to share in details. Looking forward to other Japanese Mythology paintings! Great work & Keep it up!! *Dreaming to be your apprentice/student...
Hi there,I'm back at this video the 5th time just to figure out how you plan your composition of your clouds and how to fade and make it look natural...if I can have a request,I would like you to have a more detail sharing on how you did the cloud because I just couldn't get it right.
Thank you so much for checking it out 🙏🙏 yes next time I will record it more sequences. I’d like to start from very light grey and build it up from there. If needed, I will use water to wet the paper first and apply ink after. 🙏🙏🙏
Dragon is so sick! Thanks for the tricks! Is the dosa application necesarry? or do you ever use a washi that already has it applied? I couldn't find the washi or sumi you suggested, do you grind the sumi also? I just dropped a grand on suihi, brushes, and some other washi's I found on prior trips to Japan, any tips are much appreciated. Hope we see some new paintings for 2024. Big fan of your work. Peace, Teddy
Thanks for sharing your awesome work. Watching your videos is a delight. Any website to recommend where I could order the same type of paper you are working on? Thanks again
How do you get your mineral pigments so smooth and saturated? mine are always grainy and the animal glue and water always separates from the pigments really fast
Dosa is the liquid which made from mineral and animal glue. It makes the rice paper hold pigment in places. Sort of like Japanese version of gesso 🙏 Thank you so much for watching 😊
Man, I wonder if you got frustrated with this project after having to repeat the stencil so many times? Also I absolutely love it, it's great. You are doing awesome work also in showing how to draw this subjects because there is very little content around it on youtube. Thanks for your comitment and passion.
My stamp says gaou “means drawing king in Japanese” it’s my pen name. Friend mine got it made for me in japan. I used go China town in San Francisco when I lived there and there was a book store with art supplies where they made some stamps too. If you have a China town near by, you maybe able to find something like that? I also make my own stamps sometime. 🙏🙏🙏 TGIF made you for watching 🙏🙏
Thank you so much 🙏 Greys I use is water down sumi pigments out of the bottle. Materials are listed in description on the video, please check it out 🙏🙏

Subarashii!
Arigatouzogaimasu🙏🙏
Do you have a shop to suggest where I can buy pigments, sumi and brushes from Europe that delivers to Greece? All I found online was located on Tokyo!
Hi, I don’t know any place in Europe. I usually but my stuff from japan 🙏😊
How do you get your mineral pigments so smooth and saturated? mine are always grainy and the animal glue and water always separates from the pigments really fast
Amazing as always! May I ask you what’s the “dosa” that you apply to stretch the paper? Thank you in advance!
Dosa is the liquid which made from mineral and animal glue. It makes the rice paper hold pigment in places. Sort of like Japanese version of gesso 🙏
Thank you so much for watching 😊
@@lifeonly8 Could you be kind enough to tell where to buy Dosa and the sumi you use?

I sort of got frustrated but got over it pretty quick ahahaha 😅 thank you so much for watching and your support 🙏🙏
What paper do you use to do the final painting on?
Is your rice paper grainy or textured, I bought some and it has some texture?
Mine is sort of textured too but not too much 🙏🙏🙏
This is amazing, where did u learn about Japanese art?
Thank you very much🙏 I am originally from japan and I learned from asking friends questions and reading books 🙏🙏
How long in total did this take?
What does the dosa do?
What does the stamp say that you put on your paintings? Where can you buy stamps like that?
My stamp says gaou “means drawing king in Japanese” it’s my pen name.

@@lifeonly8 Thanks! I actually found some on Amazon. Who knew?
Oh that is awesome 💪🏿 I’m gonna look there too 😊
Amazing! Do you do your own greys?
Thank you so much 🙏
Greys I use is water down sumi pigments out of the bottle.
Materials are listed in description on the video, please check it out 🙏🙏
@@lifeonly8 thank you so much. You are an inspiration!
Thank you for your support 🙏🙏
Blackbelt!!!
🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️ I really appreciate it, I consider myself forever white belt 😅
What is dosa
It’s a glue used to size paper. Made from fish or rabbit. I’m not sure if there’s an alternative.
