My problem with the Jade weapons is that they don't really look jade. They just look green.

@@Obi-Wan_Kenobi62 No. Jade is a gemstone that is mixed shades of green usually pastel in hue, but can be intense. Classic jade is usually a light green marbled with even lighter shades.
Also the stone is not metallic, it is lusterous.

The stones you see have impurities that's why they have those whitish lines
It's literally just a hue slider on the gold weapons, and the sparkle effect has diamonds instead of circles. It's cool, but wayy overhyped for what it was. You can even see the sparkle outside of the hero gallery on most weapons.

Man, I love grinding hours of competitive so I can buy Greenᵗᵐ for my gun.
From the way they looked I thought they were gonna call them emerald weapons, or viridian weapons.
They _were_ called emerald weapons when they were revealed. They even said that the look of them isn't "final", which kind of set into everyone's mind that it would look more refined.
I imagine every year the competitive weapon skins get put into the legacy weapon skin pool which can be bought by the accumulated legacy coins. I like that personally
The problem is what about people who have a stockpile of comp points, who are going to play ranked anyways, earning them the new ranked weapons. Their old comp points are still useless unless they just don’t play
@@meiswaffle101 I get that. We would just have to hope they start adding more ranked skins for weapons and possibly heroes. If they increase the pool of rewards I'd think it would actually be a good thing
@@meiswaffle101I mean if you can pay for green weapons with legacy credits in 2025, you probably won’t get all of them in 2024 so you’ll then be able to buy the rest/some of them with the collected legacy credits. You’d just have to wait a year. And we’d have actually have a system like that, which has not been teased… we can hope ig?

My issue with it is the fact that you cant buy the "lesser" reward with the real points until they're converted and can only buy jade until 2025

I don't like the idea of FOMO because it will only cause burnout which can hurt the game's overall health, but if after some time that a new skin that is introduced to put Jade in the backseat of being able to acquire with legecy comp points while not making it fomo would be rad.
Time is money. Fomo in the sense of progression is still fomo. There are responsible ways to go about it but from what we know, it could be hundreds of hours to get all jade weapons, which if you have someone who's a completionist, they'll spend day and night grinding out those rewards. I think this design was an oversight and not malicious, however.
Yeah Id think making it fomo would be an ass descison when they release a god tier gun color because people who dont have infinte free time would never get them.
I don’t believe any shitty, grindy design in this game is a mistake anymore. They already made a battle pass with a hero every season and if you don’t want to spend 10 bucks on someone that used to be free then you need to grind every day. I say this while wearing an overwatch hat walking outside cus i used to like the game but now i just miss loot boxes and heroes releasing for everyone for free right away
@@sharkyyy134_bs2I don't like the battle pass either, but you're talking out your ass. I play ow maybe 3-4 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time, and I unlocked mauga in late December, now am at tier 97-100 or something around that. It's not hard at all to get BP levels, nor very time consuming.

Wtf is the point of adding new comp purchasable weapon skins if the comp points you've accumulated over the years can't even be used for the new skins. the whole reason people have begged for more weapon skins is to finally have a use for the comp points theyve been passively hoarding because they already own all the gold guns in the game.
What would be the point of new comp weapon skins if you *could* purchase them with old comp points? Everyone would have them on day 1, so no one would care.

What they should do is give you a conversion to tokens to spend on other shit. But they won't.
The point of skins like these is earning them though. I get you're shitty that you can't use all the comp coins you've earned on something new but this is a reset. It has to happen.
It needs to have more texture to it like give it like a fractured look so its like a geode or just some form of texture
The way I always thought they should do weapon skins was through hero specific challenges, firstly, there could be easily a bunch of weapon skins just for the hero mastery stuff, aswell as the hero progression stuff instead of just a banner and titles, you can get exclusive weapon or character skins
diamond weapons will be top tier. A suite of pearlescent colors would be dooope. Red, Blue, and a true green come to mind. Seeing weapons with Valorant- esque animations would be even better. I'm picturing stars scintillating on Tracer's pistols

@@jjwang7597 It's not dumb. Pretty smart idea actually. It shouldn't be jade, though, but something. Reason you think it's dumb is because of how rare it is to get weapon colors, but had Blizz been doing it like every modern Trip A cartooney fps game, we should have several by now, and one for Mastery would've made sense along the way. Might some day if they keep releasing more, but Blizz is slow and lazy. Small indie company
Besides the shit Jade weapons, you'll also have it harder to get golden weapons because they haven't said if you can convert those points into legacy ones at any point, nothing was mentioned if you could buy goldens with the new points too, and these get converted at the end of each YEAR
They actually did address every one of these things. Originally, they said that comp points would be converted to legacy comp points at the end of the 2024 season, meaning you can only get gold guns one a year. As of a few hours ago, Aaron Keller stated that they’re working on making the new currency work for both gold and jade weapons.

When I first heard about jade weapons I was excited and expected something texturally and visually akin to that Kung Fu Panda 3 villain’s weapons, i’ve never been more disappointed.
Definitely, they trying in a hard situation. In a game riddled with “incentives to purchase” they’re trying to slowly flip it into, “incentives to play.” Even if the in game shop has different currency types (cluttered as is), they’re using that to level everyone out and start fresh. 0 coins for everyone means new standard

If you look at Ramattra’s Jade totem skin and go into his nemesis form, the shoulder ball joints actually have that nice jade look to them. They already had the texture

My complaint is the removal of end of season competitive points, like they’re trying to increase player play time stats by reducing total earnable competitive points and adding (more) FOMO.

They should’ve called Emerald not Jade because it has an emerald shade to it and not a jade shade to it

Nah any amount of $ that the new skins will only be purchasable with the new coins and the old ones can only buy gold weapons until next year when the jade weapons get put in the same store as the gold guns and the new color is only available for with next years new coins

pretty sure that each year your points get converted to legacy points and all gun types not from that year will be buyable for legacy comp points so when the next type comes out you will be able to use legacy ones to get jade weapons
The jade isn't really Jade. It's just green. Like in other games, jade weapons glow a bright green that shines. This so called "jade" is pretty dull.

Isnt jade like a gemstone? This doesn't look like jade. I pictured the jade weapons with sort of a sparkling or glowing effect with jade stone texture, kinda like how the golden weapons have a sparkling shine effect.......these are just....green, i guess...
I really like Jade, it kind of encourages getting it for characters that fit the green, in which it’s absolutely amazing for, I grinded for Gold on Genji but that’s irrelevant now since Jade looks better on most skins with Genji compared to Gold.

I feel a better marketing strategy for the jade and gold skins for comp point would be random rotations of them appearing in the shop, would allow for easily adding things like diamond, ruby, sapphire, etc. And the fomo would be stronger and incentivizes more comp play and the shop to be regularly checked. After a skin series had been out for a certain amount of time ie say 3 months the price in the shop increases

I almost had my first gold. Now I have 2450 points I can't use for almost a year.
My guess is that every time they release new competitive weapons rewards, all your points will become legacy and then the most recent rewards will be available to buy with legacy points.
The newest rewards can't be bought immediately but all rewards can be bought with existing points eventually

After Black ops 2 diamond, there haven’t been any weapon skins worth grinding. Galaxy theme was stupid to me hopefully they don’t go that route
I don’t think jade weapons being only unlockable in 2024 makes sense for a couple reasons. The main one being. It would mean any characters that come out post 2024 don’t get jade weapon skins. Which is kind of weird. And if they do a new weapon skin every year. Eventually they will run out of ideas. And recycle them.
They’ve made it clear that at the end of this comp season jade enters legacy. The whole point of legacy is to stop people from buying every character the new skin of that year for every hero immedialty after it comes out

What if you could unlock skins for weapons that match with your rank. So like a bronze weapon or Grand Masters weapon or something like that. That would be something really cool to implement into the game.
