I'm with you on those high heels! When I had a corporate life, I wore those sky-high heels which looked great with my business suits, especially since I'm short. But now that I'm out of corporate life, they're not for me. I'd probably face plant too!🤣
I even never wore high heels! NO matter what people said ("it is a must")... Why is is a must???? For who? Orthopedists? Sure. I always wore a middle heel , something that flattered my walking, my clothes and was good for my feet. I am retired now and have healthy feet, no bunions, no callus. Down with fashion terror if it makes you sick !
I agree with everything except high rises, Cathy. I'm so short that I need a 9"-10" rise and they're nearly impossible to find in a size 14 petite. The high rises make me feel sick. Also the waistband ends up falling down to what is my natural waist and I get this baggy saggy crotch area that makes my short legs look even shorter. What a sight that is, lol 🤣 Wish me luck in my search for lower rise jeans and pants because I'm ready to give up and just wear dresses. And before I forget, you look great in the pink top and earrings!
I agree with ALL of your thoughts here. Like you, I prefer classic styles and find they move from season to season, year to year, effortlessly. When I had a corporate career, I wore high heels (wrecked my feet!), and now I use my favorites (some are absolutely beautiful!) as decor in my bedroom. I have them on a decorative shelf unit with other pretty, girly things so I can still enjoy them that way. Can take a step in them now, but I love kitten heels and heels up to 2". I agree about pull-on jeans...the hardware can draw attention when it's protruding, and they make pull-on jeans a lot more stylish now. You honestly can't tell unless you tuck tops in. Good to have both kinds available. Such a fun video!
I have the same issue that's why I like my low rise. Now, I'm not talking a 4" rise or something crazy like that but a 9" to 10" rise is perfect for me.
Thank you for another lovely video 🥰 That shade of pink is very flattering on you! I like platform (but not too high) sneakers as I think they make my legs look longer and better. Just as you reiterate each video, wear what makes you feel comfortable and stylish
Love and agree 100% with your advice and take! I'm glad you like wide legged pants now too. Yeah it proportions your body and doesn't make anything stand out. Just pick thin fabrics for wide legged pants so it's drappy. I totally agree about the jeans too and will try the brand you recommended (NYDJ Marilyn) and the pullon jeans sounds good. I love comfy shoes too, walking is great exercise, so I'm in my sketchers alot. Thanks for the advice and you look great!!
Hi Cathy, I never wore low rise jeans because of the muffin top it creates that's not flattering at all. And what's the point in wearing tiny sunglasses? 😅 I used to wear high heels but I can't anymore so I'm happy they're no longer in style. Have a great weekend Cathy, thinking of you. 🫂
I'm with you on everything. You can still dress comfortably and look good. I dress simply because I'm a substitute teacher and am with little kids frequently.
I’m with you! Especially regarding higher heels. I recently decluttered my stilettos Andy thing higher than a kitten heel.I do have a few wedges for summer, nice pumps with reasonable block heels. At 59 I just can’t handle the heels! I know exactly what you mean about entering a room with sunglasses😊
Hi Cathy! Thanks for a practical guide to look stylish for an apple shaped figure. I never have got the ripped jeans trend. Glad it is going away. Love and Kindness, Teresa
All great tips, but I'm going to continue to wear my bigger necklaces. I had seen on other sites that the statement type of necklace has come back this year and it's all about something unique and big. Uniqueness is the key!! I'm only 5' tall and my inseam is 26" so it's impossible for me to find jeans that I don't have to hem! Even though I've lost 40+ pounds, jeans are the only thing that I have real problems with. So much so that I don't even buy them anymore. Ugh! I'm going to check out the brands of jeans you recommend so maybe I'll find something that doesn't need hemming!! LOL
@@fionafrazer8820 I have bought joggers and some athleisure bottoms that are ankle length and those are great. Just today I did find a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that are in an 8, short, petit that actually fit!! I am ecstatic now! LOL I will probably go back and buy another pair since they are as scarce as hen's teeth!
I agree with everything you shared. I wore low rise jeans as a teenager. After that forget it. Heels are a thing of the past for me. I have kitten heels. But prefer flat shoes. I want some On Cloud sneakers, I just haven’t gotten any yet. I’m waiting for better weather. Being comfortable is important to me.
Cathy, you look fantastic, I love your videos! You also make me laugh. Your comments on micro sunglasses and handbags are so true 😂. Also, boldly wearing someone's label, without getting paid, never made sense to me. Back in the 70s I had a sweatshirt that said "bonjour" across the middle - hated it.
I love that pink shirt on you. My sister looks great in distressed jeans, I’ve tried them and don’t like them on me. I can’t wear heels anymore. I wore them to a wedding recently, boy did I regret that!! Thank you Cathy
I haven’t been on RUclips to watch new videos in a while so I haven’t seen your recent content. But oh my goodness I can see the weight loss in your face! You’re doing a great job.
Enjoyed your video! I feel like the new trends are more for young skinny women. I definitely never liked low rise. I agree with your suggestions! TFS Debbie
Jag Jeans make comfortable and affordable pull-on jeans. I also like Talbots' slim ankle jeans as an alternative to skinny jeans, which are supposedly now out of style.
5'6" and not an apple but I'll go ya one further. I think anyone who has given birth or lost a significant amount of weight should avoid low rise jeans! Tummy bulge is not a comfortable fit and it causes that dreaded muffin top! I also like NYDJ, very comfy. Talbot's fit me too and Target makes Universal Thread jeans that fit great too. I don't mind saving some money.😊
There are ways to figure it out by measuring yourself but I’m more of a visual person. I made a video about a year ago showing a simple way to figure it out. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/mXE1esAQynM/видео.htmlsi=MDv86gzJ7QtmFXK5
All things I'll be giving a miss! Never did like anything with a logo - especially in this day and age of knock-offs. If people were thinking they made them look expensive, I think the opposite is true!
So I recently purchased a blazer and realized when it came in the mail it had shoulder pads!!! Kinda like the 80’s style. It’s a beautiful blazer. What are your feelings on this? I’ve read that they are back in style
You can Google and there are ways to figure it out with measurements. I also created a simple visual way to do it, you can watch here: ruclips.net/video/mXE1esAQynM/видео.html
I'm relieved to see the back of them all, but I'll probably still carry smaller bags. Never did embrace the statement necklace, I prefer more dainty charms.

I agree with everything you said but I do believe the trends are for the younger bees.
At 5'10", I still wore high heels. 2 to 3" because that's what girls did in the 80s and 90s. Now I'd die!!
Love the kitten heels and sunglasses. ❤
Loving that pink blouse on you!

Just having a giggle here. I am so short-waisted that high-waisted pants sit almost just below my boobs. Medium is best. 🤣
Girl!!! I got the same problem!! I wear mid rise only

Same here about wearing heels to a wedding! They weren't even that high, but it was torture standing during the cocktail hour on a flagstone patio.

Spanx jeans are simply amazing. I was shocked because I have always hated Spanx undergarments. They are worth the expense.
I agree! 😊
