    In this video, Jessica goes over how to use a home iron with heat transfer vinyl. In this demonstration, she uses Easyweed, one of Expressions Vinyl’s most popular HTV’s. You can check it out on our website! goo.gl/RuvuU9
    A few things to take into consideration when using a home steam iron is the steam holes. Make sure to avoid the steam holes when pressing down on your vinyl. You want a nice flat surface to apply even pressure.
    A lot of people think that more heat for a longer time is best when using Heat Transfer Vinyl, but this isn’t the case. A good temperature for EasyWeed is about 300 degrees or a little below the cotton setting. You also want to make sure there is no water in your iron and that everything is completely dry.
    A fun trick to make sure your vinyl is centered is to fold your shirt down the middle and line your vinyl up with the crease. You’ll get your vinyl centered every time!
    After your vinyl is centered, put some multi-use paper on top of your vinyl and press down for 10-15 seconds putting a lot of pressure behind it.
    Make sure not to have the heat too high or to hold the iron down for too long, that can ruin the adhesive backing. Let us know if you have any questions in the comments below! Thanks for watching!

    Hi Jessica, what if the garment is not cotton? I've tried just ironing it with the hot iron and it starts to catch and pucker right away - too hot!? So will this fabric not accept heat transfer vinyl?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  2 года назад

      The heat transfer vinyl can be applied to items that can withstand the heat, time, and temperature required to activate and adhere the vinyl. If you are not sure if the material will work, try a small heat test before applying the vinyl. If the material is puckering from the heat, it may not be a good match for the vinyl. There are vinyl options that require less heat, time, and pressure, if needed for the material you are wanting to use.

      This depends on which iron you are using, but usually you can use the setting right under the cotton setting for most HTV.

    Is this the same heating setting if I am applying vinyl to 100% polyester?

      We recommend applying the vinyl to material that can withstand the recommended heat settings. Check the heat limits of the material before application.

    Does a vinyl heat transfer, transfer a design without having to flip the transfer for designs with writing on the front.

      The Heat transfer sheets that we carry have a carrier sheet on then. So the design, words or image would need to be mirrored before cutting the image.

    How do I fix vinyl that peel off ? It was only one letter

      You can try repressing just the piece that fell off, however, the adhesive may have been damaged. Removing the piece and replacing it is another option.
