Low slung, squat landers with widely placed legs are most stable. Also, separation between the ground and engine bells is very important - in case your lander bounces and destroys the engine.
A small callout about your capture at moho, is it is most efficient to perform a capture burn at the periapsis point. The periapsis/apoapsis points represent the fastest/slowest moments in your orbit. And accelerating around those points will be the most efficient way to shrink/expand an orbit, or in this case capture at a planet.
The windows in the top right corner that show the Kerbals faces, the ones that show the empty seats shouldn't be like that after the patch. It should have changed it to this circuit board looking icon instead of the two empty seats. I think the patch is requiring some people to make a new save file, too.
that's for probe cores, not empty seats in a manned capsule

For all you Mohole fans out there thank the territorial glitches in Ksp 1 that created the Mohole
I've seen similar terrain artifacts in Star Citizen whenever some of the procedurally generated planets were still new and they were still really working on the tech itself. It's interesting to see, especially if you are the first person to discover it by exploring the planet (or at least found it before anyone was talking about it)

the reason you dropped your periapsis is because you did a retrograde ejection from kerbin (you left kerbin at the back of its sphere of influence). this means that your periapsis will drop. a prograde ejection, by contrast, raises your orbit.

The performance is way better in the recent update. KSC performance is still suboptimal, but around other celestial bodies and in space it's fine.
