This is when music was real and you weren’t scared to tell your woman how you felt about it. I’m a 90’s baby but DeBarge was a force to be reckoned with in the 80’s.
I'm a Gen-X kid,..the 80's were def awesome! It was both the diversity and quality of music, across the board.

The Debarge family is so so talented! I think the Debarge's are one of the most talented musical families in American history! However, their "UnSung" was so depressing and sad! The mental, physical and sexual abuse along with the drugs destroyed the family! The father was a monster and the mother let him get away with it. Just tragic!

The DeBarge's were a talented family. The two oldest Debarge brothers had a band named "SWITCH". Led by Bobby DeBarge, they had numerous hits! "There'll Never Be" and "I Call Your Name" Are two of my favorites.
My kind of music
I was in middle school when this song came out and I fell in love with it. I can’t even imagine middle schoolers listening to this kind of music today. There are grown ups today that say they never listened to or like “slow love songs “ or anything other then hip hop. I love hip hop too but that’s sad.
Yes Ms. Ashley you are so right. We have the best music because we had real singers. No one engineered, real instruments. Folks crammed into a small studios and laid down real tracks. I'm so happy you are enjoying it. I can see the joy in your face.

Back when music was real music so much better than today
I was a teenager in love back in the late 70's early 80's ....I Call your Name was the song.... my heart was gone. Lenny Williams and the music of the time was all about love. No comparison in the music world today. The artist of the 80 to late 90 were amazing

@09F150 no El didn't sing any of the verses or the "you send chills up my spine part" his brother Randy tone sounds very similar to his.
El has sung it for years solo. However this the original and Randy is on lead. Bunny and Randy wrote the song.

Check out DeBarge singing "Who's Holding Donna Now" you will love it. I had a Donna in my life back in the 70's and 80's, unfortunately she took her own life 😥in 1982. But that song brings back the loving memories I have of us being together. Thanks for all of your reactions.

I was looking at that image at toward at end of the song where RUclips usually places songs that are similar to the one heard. I noticed the group 'Switch' on the top left corner. There are 10 siblings in the DeBarge family. Before DeBarge became a group, they were influenced by older brothers Bobby and Tommy who were in a group called 'Switch'. OMG how younger brother El from DeBarge sounds alot like his older brother Bobby. Switch got the attention of Jermaine Jackson who then forward them to Mr. Gordy who had signed them. 1979s 'I Call Your Name' is my personal favorite.

To start off the song you have brother Randy then El with the falsetto. When this song came out I bought the album. One of my favorite groups from the 80s. This family is very loved and rich in talent. They have more song to react to so you will not be disappointed.

El DeBarge is a great singer. You should do their track "A Dream" sung by Bunny. It wasn't a single but one of their best songs in my opinion.
DeBarge was a talented family group from the two brothers who were singing in the group "Switch" to the siblings who formed this group DeBarge if you're able, you should check out the episode of Unsung they were the first To appear on that show and their story is extremely sad on how talented they were and are those who are still alive,To all of them being addicted to drugs but their harmonies and their voices are one of the best!
