This is when music was real and you weren’t scared to tell your woman how you felt about it. I’m a 90’s baby but DeBarge was a force to be reckoned with in the 80’s.
I'm a Gen X kid too. Today, too many women aren't women anymore. They've forgotten what it means to be a woman. Talk to great grandma, she'll tell you.
The Debarge family is so so talented! I think the Debarge's are one of the most talented musical families in American history! However, their "UnSung" was so depressing and sad! The mental, physical and sexual abuse along with the drugs destroyed the family! The father was a monster and the mother let him get away with it. Just tragic!
Yes Ms. Ashley you are so right. We have the best music because we had real singers. No one engineered, real instruments. Folks crammed into a small studios and laid down real tracks. I'm so happy you are enjoying it. I can see the joy in your face.
The DeBarge's were a talented family. The two oldest Debarge brothers had a band named "SWITCH". Led by Bobby DeBarge, they had numerous hits! "There'll Never Be" and "I Call Your Name" Are two of my favorites.
I was a teenager in love back in the late 70's early 80's ....I Call your Name was the song.... my heart was gone. Lenny Williams and the music of the time was all about love. No comparison in the music world today. The artist of the 80 to late 90 were amazing
I was in middle school when this song came out and I fell in love with it. I can’t even imagine middle schoolers listening to this kind of music today. There are grown ups today that say they never listened to or like “slow love songs “ or anything other then hip hop. I love hip hop too but that’s sad.
They are an excellent group. Also another sibling musical group is the Jets they were a Tongan group that got on the music charts BIG TIME! Aloha girl!!!!
I LOVE the Jets, one of my favorite groups too. This includes 5-Star also,a black,British family group from the UK,there're UNSUNG episodes on both of these groups.
Well Done I Love To See Young Woman And Men Listening To Music Beautiful Songs and You Hit Right On The Head That's How My Kids Got Here From My High School Sweet Heart Keep On Playing Those Great Songs
I truly appreciate and admire when a new generation person who enjoys music can honestly say " I'm jealous of the ole schol music" There will never be any comparison we ole schol put it down with music...
Awesome talented family but very sad story as abuse took place in the family. I always loved DeBarge & to later learn of what these talented brothers & sister went through broke my heart
Yes, that's true but don't forget that Debarge is actually Bobby's siblings. So, El (who sings the lead here) learned how to sing those falsetto notes from his older brother, Bobby. :)
@09F150 no El didn't sing any of the verses or the "you send chills up my spine part" his brother Randy tone sounds very similar to his. El has sung it for years solo. However this the original and Randy is on lead. Bunny and Randy wrote the song.
Check out DeBarge singing "Who's Holding Donna Now" you will love it. I had a Donna in my life back in the 70's and 80's, unfortunately she took her own life 😥in 1982. But that song brings back the loving memories I have of us being together. Thanks for all of your reactions.
To start off the song you have brother Randy then El with the falsetto. When this song came out I bought the album. One of my favorite groups from the 80s. This family is very loved and rich in talent. They have more song to react to so you will not be disappointed. If you haven't already checked it out, please check out the song produced by Quincy Jones called "Secret Garden". Very sexy song featuring singers: Al B. Sure, James Ingram, Barry White and El Debarge (from the group Debarge). It's a Very Grown and Sexy song, you will definitely like it!😊
I was looking at that image at toward at end of the song where RUclips usually places songs that are similar to the one heard. I noticed the group 'Switch' on the top left corner. There are 10 siblings in the DeBarge family. Before DeBarge became a group, they were influenced by older brothers Bobby and Tommy who were in a group called 'Switch'. OMG how younger brother El from DeBarge sounds alot like his older brother Bobby. Switch got the attention of Jermaine Jackson who then forward them to Mr. Gordy who had signed them. 1979s 'I Call Your Name' is my personal favorite.
DeBarge was a talented family group from the two brothers who were singing in the group "Switch" to the siblings who formed this group DeBarge if you're able, you should check out the episode of Unsung they were the first To appear on that show and their story is extremely sad on how talented they were and are those who are still alive,To all of them being addicted to drugs but their harmonies and their voices are one of the best!
I'm sure that you didn't know.. Debarge are the siblings of SWITCH. The group that sings I WANNA BE CLOSER, which you LOVED. " They gonna but our granny's flowers. " Bobby Debarge the light skinned dude and leader of SWITCH had a tragic life. You should Google his story. Just a little background on this group. Love ya .
The truth is, there are artists like this today (real RnB/doul), but they're not promoted, and they don't get big record deals. Check out Jac Ross, and Solomon Joseph just to name 2.
Recommendations: "One Hundred Ways" or "Just Once" by James Ingram. He's done great duets with Patti Austin,.."How Do You Keep the Music Playing" and "Baby Come to Me".
Time Will Reveal, Love Me In A Special Way, All This Love, and Who's Holding Donna Now are good DeBarge songs. Also the older brother, Bobby DeBarge was in a group called Switch and they're a good group also.
That’s El Debarge the brother of Bobby Debarge one of the lead singers of Switch you know, the one with the high voice. Go back and watch the video “I Wanna Be Closer”by Switch!!
If you enjoyed DeBarge you need to react to Switch. Bobby DeBarge has one of the best falsettos. Please react to I Wanna Be Closer, There’ll Never Be, I Call Your Name.
You look really cute trying to compare Teddy P to DeBarge. NO, NO, no Come on over to my place songs are night and day. I say this, your comments and expression are so much fun to watch. I really enjoy your page. This song me & my boy Mizell was riding to Vegas from LA pushing 100 vibing to this song when it came out. Back them life was easy, life was everything so much enjoyment and fun in Cali, I can't put it in words. ps the DeBarge's lived 1 block from Pico & Fairfax Blvd down the street from McDonnell's. lol!
My brother Randy and I wrote this one, thank you for Liking it! ❤
we love you bunny! you are AMAZING, a real legend.
Wow!! You and your whole family was and still are amazing!!
You and your family will always be in my life’s soundtrack. Love Always. 🎉❤❤❤❤❤

The music of my generation was so good. I love this group and the whole family is so talented. You need to see the video its amazing.
I love seeing these younger generations discover how good our music is

This is when music was real and you weren’t scared to tell your woman how you felt about it. I’m a 90’s baby but DeBarge was a force to be reckoned with in the 80’s.
I'm a Gen-X kid,..the 80's were def awesome! It was both the diversity and quality of music, across the board.
I'm a Gen X kid too. Today, too many women aren't women anymore. They've forgotten what it means to be a woman. Talk to great grandma, she'll tell you.
Brother was the lead singer for the group Switch.
I simply put it like this Debarge/Switch should be literally preserved in a time capsule their music was so timeless
This group was the GOAT back in the day. I wish i could go back in time.
When you watch this younger generation discover old school music, I realize how spoiled my generation was with all the great music.
We used to take a boom box to the beach and listen to music like this.
We were spoiled and had many baby's in 70s, 80, 90s! Their will never be good music like those time. Thank you for putting out good music
Now you need to react to Teddy Pendergrass "Come On and Go With Me"! The original version of that song you were singing.
I was a teen in the 80's and this music helped to show you how to court a girl. 😂❤
Back when music was real music so much better than today
El Debarge always been smooth.
I was a teenager in love back in the late 70's early 80's ....I Call your Name was the song.... my heart was gone. Lenny Williams and the music of the time was all about love. No comparison in the music world today. The artist of the 80 to late 90 were amazing
Definitely waiting for her to react to I Call Your Name & Love Me Over Again.
Music today just don't compare..
I've been waiting you to do this. Great reaction. El Debarge's falsetto is everything.
I was in middle school when this song came out and I fell in love with it. I can’t even imagine middle schoolers listening to this kind of music today. There are grown ups today that say they never listened to or like “slow love songs “ or anything other then hip hop. I love hip hop too but that’s sad.
LMAO! you are tooo funny. "Hey, you are satisfying me. If she don't appreciate you, I do!"
'Come Go With Me' is a slow jam recorded by the great Teddy Pendergrass back in 1979... respect and RIP.

Please do Bunny Debarge's A DREAM!!!! Ashley you would love that one!!! 🐰⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
EXACTLY 💯‼️
Love that one
Awesome talented family but very sad story as abuse took place in the family. I always loved DeBarge & to later learn of what these talented brothers & sister went through broke my heart
The first biracial group that was signed to motown records
Also, that "come on and go with me..." is by Teddy Pendergrass
You said it perfectly, music today can't come anywhere close
Shes reviewed SWITCH before....somebody let Ms Ashley know that Bobby Debarge was the Lead Singer with ORIGINAL falsetto
Original Debarge falsetto.
Yes, that's true but don't forget that Debarge is actually Bobby's siblings. So, El (who sings the lead here) learned how to sing those falsetto notes from his older brother, Bobby. :)
That's Randy DeBarge singing the verses and El DeBarge singing the " I like the way you comb your hair" And he does all the ad libs until the end
El did the complete 2nd verse....listen close.
@09F150 no El didn't sing any of the verses or the "you send chills up my spine part" his brother Randy tone sounds very similar to his.
El has sung it for years solo. However this the original and Randy is on lead. Bunny and Randy wrote the song.

Debarge A Dream
I’d argue that pound for pound they’re the most talented sibling group ever.
Bobby DeBarge and Tommy DeBarge of Switch are the older siblings of DeBarge. El and Bobby sound eerily similar!
I never liked singing in from of people but i loved singing.

Don’t know if you knew this but they had two brothers in the group Switch. The one with the high voice in Switch is there older brother.

"Turn the page" that was my song....that had some smooth songs
El DeBarge is a great singer. You should do their track "A Dream" sung by Bunny. It wasn't a single but one of their best songs in my opinion.
Great song by Debarge!
