  • After years of neglect, Volvo finally gives its first-ever SUV the redesign it needed. Riding on the all-new SPA platform, this new luxury family vehicle promises to offer all the luxury, tech, performance, and style of its German competitors, while giving you that touch of Swedish style that you've been looking for. It's a must drive if you're shopping in this class, just be prepared to pay up to get one.

      Nobody does any good motor (i.e. lastting) anymore. Those are good 20 years gone now. This is the world we leave in, so they can benefit out of customers, unfortunately.

    The purpose of being able to operate the heated and cooling functions at the same time are to help you dry off when you get in from the rain.

    Damn, I love your reviews so much, so detailed and well delivered. I think Volvo is killing it now. Only time will reveal the true durability of the twin induction engine, but the overall design and build integrity are supremely executed and a class above most of the competition. I could see this or the the XC-60 T8 as a great retirement travel vehicle. Keep the excellent reviews coming!

    Volvo makes great autos but most americans don't realize it. Safest cars on the road. Just because Toyota or Subaru receives a 5 star crash rating doesn't mean its on the same level as Volvo

    • @Supertrooper697
      @Supertrooper697 7 лет назад +2

      Toyota's also are most reliable, which is why you see so many. Volvo, especially these newest ones, aren't scoring to great on reliability. This is something I would only lease, if I were to get one, but never buy.

    • @v60polestar88
      @v60polestar88 7 лет назад +4

      Supertrooper697 I also own a Toyota Highlander so I will agree with you about them being very reliable, but they are very boring and full of cheap plastic and like most Asian cars they rust out. My Volvo feels substantial and the build quality is top notch. If you can afford a Volvo and the maintenance then hands down the Volvo is a better car. The average American can't afford a Volvo, BMW,Audi, or Mercedes so it's expected that you see way more Toyota on the road

    • @Eeaotc02
      @Eeaotc02 7 лет назад

      Volvos are one the safest cars on the market, both Volvo and Subaru are tops when it comes to safety. Toyota is reliable but not all of their vehicles are safe sadly. Tacoma, Tundra, Sequoia, etc aren't rated safe compared to the rest of their competitors but they're alright. For safety features, Volvo is #1 yes but for chassis structure, Subaru isn't too far from Volvo. Toyota now has their Toyota Sense as standard across their entire lineup. However they need to improve their structures and handling.

    Using the heated and ventilated seats concurrently allows for you to dry off and stay warm after coming in from a cold Swedish (or Seattle) winter day. Remember ventilated seats are just that, circulation of the ambient temperature of the car, so presumably, it would be blowing warm air when you have the heat on and cool air when the a/c is on.

    The reason for being able to have both the heated seat and ventilation function at the same time is an for instances when your clothes are wet and damp. While warming you up, it kind of air dries your clothes.

I have a fully optioned '17 T6 R-Design and I would definitely recommend adding the air suspension and Bowers and Wilkins audio system. The ride handling and cornering are much sharper. Overall this vehicle should be a big seller for Volvo in the next few years.

    Sofyan, great review, @ 18:18 a Dodge Durango Citadel in the background, how would you compare both considering the pentastar would cost the same on gas with regular gas vs XC90 premium gas, knowing the huge difference in interior quality do you believe the extra $5K is worth it in terms of Volvo's unproven reliability with the new XC90 and probability of technical failure... I just had the opportunity to keep one for a day from a dealership. The 2017 xc90 T6 AWD looks great, BUT...It was super LOUD. I don't know why these manufacturers must have moon roofs, but I currently drive a truck and the noise from this luxury crossover was unbearable, even for my GMC 1500 Sierra. Also, the seats are way too short. I am 6'5", so I know I'm not your average size driver, but I haven't had this problem driving my wife's regular sedan (es 350), or any other regular size vehicles. It was impossible to find a comfortable spot, no matter how many adjustments I made. The pedal was too high, which made my calf cramp up, and the seat seems really short, which became annoying and uncomfortable for my hamstrings really quickly. I wouldn't buy that car. If you decide to test drive it, take it overnight or take it on the highway. Because if you only drive it 40 miles an hour around the dealership, you won't notice either of these things. Not only that, but the engine is loud too, not just wind and pavement noise. This was the most confusing, mixed feelings I've ever had about a car. Loved the look and quality, absolutely hated the lack of comfort and the noise.

      I have a 2016 XC90 - Fully optioned - $73K and worth every penny I spent. I just LOVE it. This review is right on the money. Perhaps the only area where he was a little inaccurate was the fuel economy. Of course he is only going to get 19 city and 26 highway when he drives it as hard as he does. I drive mine "normally" and I routinely average 30 MPG mixed highway and city. On one 75 mile trip the other day sticking to the speed limit and going through a few towns I achieved 34 MPG - in a SUV!! Who would think that.... and yes when I do need to plant my foot - I have ALL the power I need - as he said 0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds... in a 4 cylinder 6000 pound car. It's an amazing vehicle!

    • @robertferraro236
      @robertferraro236 6 лет назад

      It's kind of difficult to describe because you have this amazing acceleration when needed but you don't get that "rumble" under the hood that a V8 gives you. So you kind of know you only have 4 cylinders but there is somewhat of a dissonance because of the performance you get. Especially when you go into performance mode - it's totally comes to life and says "I'm ready to race" and you only have to touch the gas pedal and you feel the potential of the engine. I do love the "rumble" of a V6 or V8 though and I have the same situation with my Mercedes in that I used to have the C350 with the V6 and then traded for the C300 with a turbo charged 4 cylinder and while it is zippy I miss the "rumble" of the V6 when I would plant my foot.

    Comprehensive review of the Volvo XC90. However, your constant comparison to the Acura MDX is a bit unfortunate. Volvo is Scandinavian and competes with vehicles such as Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and Audi. The elegant design and the multi awards the newly design XC90 won puts it beyond comparison with mediocre vehicles.

    Beautiful styling inside and out but the powertrain doesn't suit the vehicle. It's complication means reliability issues later on down the line. Why they couldn't go with a TT V6 option which would still be efficient and powerful is beyond me.
