Haven't ever had the money to justify it since but I want a .410 like I want air to breathe. Seeing that brand new box of 410 takes me back to the days of 6 year old me doing my best to shoot trap with a single-shot break open 410. The gun was taller than me and I had to put the stock between my legs to get the leverage to close it, but I’d still reliably get scores of 12-16 a round. Had a single shot .410 as my first gun, it was the only gun in my dad’s cabinet that wasn’t stolen from a burglary, sadly his .12 gauge and .16 gauge him and his dad both bought were taken and never found.

@@schizotypethevirginwarrior7290 not officially the two suspects ended up dying under “suspicious circumstances” as it was reported by the deputy who we knew that started the case, I figure that was about all the justice we could get from the crime. Still wish the guns could be found but at this point they are long gone. The loss of that 12 gauge was what really hurt, the other guns or even the other valuables taken didn’t have a lot of sentimental value and could be replaced, but losing an heirloom that’s irreplaceable, even today dad still gets upset at the loss.

I used to have a mossberg 500 410 pump exactly like that. Except I took the wood stocks off of mine and put a polymer forestock on it and a polymer pistol grip. Loved it. It was my first gun I killed 2 deer with it. I lost it in a house fire with the rest of my guns

410 is a true sportsman's caliber. Not about pretending to be "macho man", or having the most deadly weapon you can buy, but about having skills.

My Dad bought me a 20 gauge when I was 12. We were at the display in the Otasco and the shotguns and rifles were standing in the display and boxes of shells stacked underneath. I wanted the youth 410, Dad said let me show you something. He handed me the 20 and asked how’s this feel? It’s real long, he said you’ll grow into it, now look at this , a box of #6 for the 410 was almost $5 and a box of #6 for the 20 was only $1.59….now 55 years later I still have the 20gauge and shells are still much cheaper for it than the 410. 🤔
