My point is, I'm almost always around musicians. The only time I really ever see anyone throw headphones on is in the studio. And even in the studio it's not common. I own 2 Roland electric kits and don't use headphones. My drummer sometimes practices on his Roland kit and also plugs into a monitor. Not wanting to take two rides on tour maybe?.. Either way, sick beat and always missed..

I have to say, good call on choosing that large bell for the studio. Definitely helps with consistency of the hits. It’s hard to get that with smaller bells. (For example: don’t stop believin’ the bell is very prominent and Steve Smith seems to nail each hit almost perfectly.)
I remember being 13 years old (27 now) and hearing A7X for the first time and going “I want to be like that guy!” And I started learning drums shortly after that, with The Rev being my main influence. I wouldn’t have gotten to do so many cool things musically with my life if it wasn’t for him. foREVer 🤘🏼
I've always been interested in piano. Ever since I was a kid. Then I got into Evanescence, and Amy Lee has become a huge role model and inspiration in the past few years. I want to be like her more than anything. I think I'm okay at singing, but I do have some issues that come up with that ...but.... It honestly makes me feel so bad when seeing other people playing piano. I've wanted to play it since I was a child, but I never actually got to start until 7th grade. I'm 21, and I just recently, around age 20, started taking lessons off and on. It's a semester thing, and sometimes I can't get in a slot, and I miss the semester. I was taking some from an old church friend, but she seemed to get super impatient with me, and so I haven't seen her in a while. I still suck at it after all these years. Like... just how? @@TheNewbiedrummer Jesus Christ, you have to be kidding me. Grohl was an AVERAGE drummer, that's why when he made his OWN band, he hired a drummer. CatLikeThief That’s not even close to true. While it is two ride bells with double bass, the amount of time you’d need to play drums to play that is pretty high. It looks easy. It‘s not something a beginner could do though.
@@guitarguy9030 yea I'm for real. It's super easy. I see the comment above exclaiming a beginner drummer couldn't do it but... that's not even a real point. My point is that doubles are easy. Period. Nobody can deny that. I'm not knocking the drummer here, and it's worked into the song well. The drummer himself is a pro musician. It's not that he played the doubles, it's where in the song he fit them. But it's such a simple thing, I don't see why the comments are flooded about it being hard to do when it's not at all.

Not really a huge fan of their music but I have an insane amount of respect for the talent and skill the Rev had. Guy was a machine. Absolutely killed it everytime.
Last week, I don't know why in the studio I work at, a guy and myself started talking about A7x and how this was the song that got us both into the band, and ever since, I came back to listening to their music and remembering so many things from when I was in high school and they were one of the bands that got me through it. As it turns out, I had a mild obsession with the Rev back then, and I just remembered everything! I've been kinda depressed lately and it saddens me even more to think about the fact that he's been long gone... for some reason the obsession came back and I swear to God I fell in love with this man once again (if not even more) and his fucking huge talent! He was such a musical genius and he had one of the most beautiful souls I've ever seen from afar. He seemed so kind and funny and it is such a huge shame that he passed, it is actually so painful to think about it. May he rest in peace and live on foREVer in our hearts!!! 🖤

@B**** G**** They made the last cool rock and roll album since appetite for destruction with city of evil (with songs for the deaf in the middle there). They made metal and rock cool again for a little while.
This band seems like the chillest coolest dudes ever without having any ego issues cuz they’re all best friends since kids. RIP Jimmy, you are forever a legend in music and we will never forget you as your music is immortalized and just too good

I think it's because he realized he made a small mistake
What is that clip from?
Yeah, he fucked up a bit and was like "Neh fuck it let's just finish this take anyway".
Glad this came up in my feed. I remember watching this when he died. Miss the Rev. Glad I saw him live. Dude is so funny. Just comes in, rips it up and dips. RIP Brother ❤️
At first: seems simple
Rev: *hits like 157 different drums in the span of a second*
Ig its....
Almost easy
157 notes/second would be 64th note triplets at 393 BPM. Damn he was fast.
He kinda looks like an emo Dwight from the office
EDIT: btw all respect to the rev. man was a legend RIP
Will Gray Jr. so true.
Yeeeeeees 😂 so great.
😂
yassss
So funny; when "Dwight" did that movie where he plays drums I thought he might secretly want to be the Rev!!!
The Rev was a special player, chops, taste, power, musicality!
The Rev literally makes it look effortless; a masterful display.
I find myself watching this multiple times a day..can't get enough of it.
I literally listen to this like it’s an actual song
Its a song. With only 1 instrument
He may have metal prowess, but his sense of composition is just so over the top love ya Jimmy! 🥁🖤

One of a kind, man. So many talented drummers and he just stands out like Jordison, Portnoy, Peart, Bonham, and Vinnie.

You can sing it in your head because you know the song, not because of the drums
He's so flawless and nonchalant in how he plays. Absolute shredder.
Martin Restrepo easiest drum song I’ve ever witnessed
This song isn’t really that crazy hard
@@jakeladders7461 how
Tronci I can tell u don’t know much about drums huh bud ? Proof is in the video but it’s okay bro I get it
@@jakeladders7461 what?? There's no way it's the easiest song ever to play; I'm a fucking drummer you idiot and I've been playing for 8 years. There's nothing insanely hard about this song but to call it the easiest song to play on the drums is ridiculous. A beginner wouldn't be able to play this song at all and even an intermediate player would struggle.
I appreciate this because it gives viewers the chance to hear what drums actually sound like before they’re processed.
I swear, great drummers seem like magicians to me. Even when you show me how they do their stuff, I just can’t comprehend how they actually manage to pull it all off and make it seem so effortless.
I was lucky enough to see him live. RIP true legend
He's an absolute legend. I was supposed to see them live a few months before he passed but wasn't able to go and it honestly devastated me, especially when I heard of his passing. RIP brother 🖤
Love this, he really made it look almost easy - Gone but never forgotten
No offense, but it is easy to play.
Playing like that's not easy to everyone though, it takes certain people
@@z0eshiTo someone who doesn't know how to play drums, yes obviously, but the average drummer can play this easily. Not saying Rev sucks or anything, just saying this particular song isnt hard to play
Yeah i understand, i mean i cant play, i would love to learn some day but honestly i doubt ill get the time, so to me it looks awesome
@@z0eshi I taught myself, just learn the basics. It's all about muscle memory, it my take longer but eventually it can be done. Don't need to rush it. A couple mins just trying to mimick/air drum can help.

After all these years i finally got to see these recording in full version. What a bless! Jimmy you will never be forgotten foREVer!... I mean FOREVER. foREVer!
That double ride is so sick. Such an amazing drummer. He is always in our hearts and he will stay there forever we miss you Rev
It's fucking insane.
Gene Hoglan built that. I've had two since my first kit courtesy of Gene on Individual Thought Patterns.
To me the greatest

first and last time i saw a double ride like this... sick
I've always loved the double ride with the double bass move 😍 brings back my teen years watching this, miss you Jimmy ❤❤
Best Band Ever! I'm so glad I got to see the Rev perform with A7X in Denver back in 2006 or 2007 before his passing. The Rev was amazing, truly phenomenal drummer!
I like how after he got finished , he got up like it was nothing . He killed that in ONE WHOLE TAKE. what a legend . RIP
Love how he just casually gets up and walks away after creating unbelievable drum lines….. in one take. No click. Genius!
He does this so nonchalant and that’s why he is my favorite drummer of all time. RIP Rev
I don't know how many times I have watched this.
Watching this again in 2024. I've been a drummer for 11 years now and it's all because of Jimmy! Forever one of my favourite musicians ❤️ Wish he was still with us
That fire extinguisher 🧯 behind him is 💯% EMPTY after putting out all the fires he started laying these fkng tracks down! RIP Rev you were an absolute boss behind that kit man! Simply incredible!
Finally got to see how that part at 1:17 was done
Chris B he did it in the music video yeeeeaaaaarrrrrrrrs ago... Also, it’s kinda just a common sense thing (if you play drums)
Kickin' Wing, Animal Doctor portnoy did it differently with just a single if you ever see his drum cam
All I can do is just laugh at how ridiculous that is.
@@GKillChill jimmy ever did it too, see almost easy live in loudpark 2008, jimmy didn't play his double ride style and he play single
This has always confused me, seeing as on the recording as seen here it's obviously double ride, but then as people hVe said he plays it single, I woukd have thought playing on a single ride would take away some of the clarity and precision of this technique, always wondered why he played one live.. Not wanting to take two rides on tour maybe?.. Either way, sick beat and always missed..
RIP Jimmy. Only a madman could come up with something like that. Absolutely staggering from the first time I heard the double ride right up until now
Felt like meeting a good old friend after ages. Took me straight down memory lane. What a powerhouse of talent and so cool about it.

Good god, the bell on that ride makes it seem as though there's a train about to come through.
Eric Thorpe so true, i never thought of it that way
Zildjian 21” Z Custom Mega Bell Ride 👌🏻 (now the A series Mega Bell Ride)
Aspen Challis $325 ....damn
I have to say, good call on choosing that large bell for the studio. Definitely helps with consistency of the hits. It’s hard to get that with smaller bells. (For example: don’t stop believin’ the bell is very prominent and Steve Smith seems to nail each hit almost perfectly.)
@@jessejohnson9321 yeah check out K custom or K custom hybrid. 🤑
I remember being 13 years old (27 now) and hearing A7X for the first time and going “I want to be like that guy!” And I started learning drums shortly after that, with The Rev being my main influence. I wouldn’t have gotten to do so many cool things musically with my life if it wasn’t for him. foREVer 🤘🏼
Yes 👏👏. Jimmy Best Drummer🙏
I've always been interested in piano. Ever since I was a kid. Then I got into Evanescence, and Amy Lee has become a huge role model and inspiration in the past few years. I want to be like her more than anything. I think I'm okay at singing, but I do have some issues that come up with that
...but....
Like... just how? I am literally going to d*e without ever doing what I want to do...
2024 and love The Rev! he will be missed R.I.P.
ill never forget him playing manc in england forever ago and he was shredding the drums whilst simultaneously just amusedly lookin out past the cymbals entertained by the crowd

A hero of heroes, not many can compare to the legend of The REV!!! I grew up idolizing this band. The first hardcore/heavy metal I fell in love with. They helped define my life and carry me through some of my toughest times. God bless you REV, the world may never be the same without you brother!!! Long live your legacy!!!
I wish Rev was still here
I always love this clip because it's such a good example of how you shouldn't judge by the cover. Meaning, if we never knew the Rev and this emo-asf dude walked into a Circle K, you'd just assume he was just living with mom playing video games all day yet instead he's one of the most amazing drummers ever to live.
If someone judges a book by the cover they probably couldint read it anyways
Most amazing drummers ever? No, he's not in that list.
He's dead, that's why he's overrated. Dave Grohl, for example, owns him, easy.
@@TheNewbiedrummer Jesus Christ, you have to be kidding me. Grohl was an AVERAGE drummer, that's why when he made his OWN band, he hired a drummer.
Danny Carey, as one random example, is a world-class drummer. Danny is definitely better than Jimmy, but Jimmy could cover Danny's work. Dave, whom I love, could never dream of covering Danny.
Again, I love Grohl but he is only an average drummer. Prove me wrong. Not by just saying it, prove it.
@@TheNewbiedrummer Also, I clearly wrote "ONE OF the most amazing drummers" not what you wrote as an attempt to quote me, "most amazing drummer". I never said that. Let's be accurate if you want to have a legitimate discussion.
@@BPoweredLove grohl is more than an average drummer, and he sings and plays guitar for foo fighters, hence needing an extra drummer. obviously the rev is on another level but you can elevate him without putting down grohl
every time i watch this video, even though i only hear the drums, i don't know why it feels like i know every part of this song and prove that this song is almost easy song, automatically knows. it proves how great the rev. #RIPtheRev
It’s so crazy the subtleties in his playing it’s like you hear the standard tempo in yur head and imagine the other instruments behind it but you hear Jimmy messing with the signatures subtlety here and there and bringing it all back up to speed and still makes it sound so Consistent and Dead accurate his creativity in his drumming is awesome
1:13 I could do that
1:17 wtf
It's 16th notes with double bass and two cymbal bells. Very easy. Like...almost as easy as it gets.
CatLikeThief worng
But it's such a simple thing, I don't see why the comments are flooded about it being hard to do when it's not at all.
it didn't take me long to learn it
I love here and there, watching his old videos.
It's unbelievable the way he plays.
It's unbelievable he left us so early.
Ah, happy birthday mate 🦇💀🦇🙌
@2:50 is my favorite fill ever. It's SO simple, but SO good. Not to mention that double ride fill
RIP LEGEND. You made me want to become a drummer growing up.
Something about watching a very talented drummer just waltz right in and kill it while looking like a normal day at the office is just calming and very entertaining. I would strain myself with every hit, but he makes it look easy! This is like ASMR to me.
I have been watching this vid a few times in a year since 2019 to feel good but I end up feeling a little sad. Thank you Rev❤
