I really should have picked this one up before its retirement, I never even knew you could re-assemble the ship and have the island separate- I've been itching for a good Lego Pirate ship. Might have to get it before the price rises higher or maybe get a second-hand copy. Great review, missed it when it originally dropped!
_this set is ridiculous._ I got this second hand like 6 months ago after not pulling the trigger while it was on sale from Lego. just built it today. my jaw is on the floor at how good it is, especially for the price it was sold at. the last two large Lego sets I've put together are the Lion Knight's Castle and the Medival Blacksmith and this thing is like three or four notches better than those. *and I'm saying that as a castle fan.* my only criticisms are that the person who sold it to me left out some pieces (including one of the palm leaves and all the spare parts!) and somehow I broke one of the plates during assembly.
Grabbed this before the price hike, and still sitting in the box, because as much as I want to build it, I have NOWHERE to display it. Same issue with the Lion Knights Castle.
I kinda feel cheated because I never realised it was a full ship, so I barely looked at this set. Now that I know its not just a broken wreck I want it, but I aint paying over 300 smackers...give it a week and I will because I wanit.

I'm definitely a castle/fantasy Lego builder, but this has made my jaw drop. Stunning pirate set, this is so much better than the El Dorado remake.
