Jang is my go to for adult non-edgy presentation. He trusts his audience to stay engaged and absorb the info he’s presenting without resorting to gimmicks or attention grabbing editing to “trick” engagement metrics to tick.
This is so rare to find and I respect him greatly for that dedication.

13:13 I believe the ship scene depicts Eärendil sailing to Valinor on his ship Vingilotë to beseech the Valar on behalf of the people of Middle Earth to help stop the dark lord Morgoth, and the second is the hidden city of Gondolin, destroyed in the First Age.
This set is beautiful I need it in my life, I am one of the small margin of people haha, but the hefty price necessitates many months of saving up! I’m happy though because if Jang thinks its a good set then my trepidation in buying it has been put to bed for sure.

I had the privilege of building this model for our LEGO store's display, and it was a marvel from start to finish. Yes, those roof tiles, but it's not half bad if you just stick RUclips on or listen to music and get lost in it. As a LEGO fan with limited space, time and money, I will never get to build a set anywhere close to this big ever again, so when they asked who wanted to build it I jumped at the opportunity, and I definitely see it as a milestone in my journey with LEGO despite the fact I didn't actually own the set!

While I wasn’t too thrilled when it was announced the first official LOTR set we’d be getting after around 9 years since the last Middle-Earth LEGO sets came out was going to be a larger scaled Rivendell, this is a very gorgeous set.
The build is fantastic, the mini-figures are fantastic, and the movie scene references are fantastic. If any expensive D2C LEGO set was worth its price, it’s this set. Now I know $500 is still expensive, but like I said this Rivendell set fits the price; especially compared to that Black Panther bust and that giant Hulkbuster set.
Now, while I would like to save up for this set, there was another D2C LOTR set that was leaked that I am much most interested in. That set being the Barad-Dur set, which is supposed to come with our first proper Sauron mini-figure. The leaks right now are only that the set is in production, and I have heard that the potential release of the Barad-Dur set hinges on the success of the Rivendell set. So if that’s truly going to be the case, I really hope the success of this set meets LEGO’s expectations, that way we can finally get Barad-Dur and Sauron, as well as get a true relaunch of the LOTR line in the future.

This is easily one of if not my favorite lego set. It’s so huge and it’s presence on a shelf is fantastic. Every time I have guests over they can’t stop staring at it. It’s expensive for sure, but the build process, the figures, the details, and the enjoyment I’m going to get from looking at it for years and years more than make up for that

A pure masterwork of Lego design, that's what this set is.
The two pictures on the top half are Gondolin, the elf city where Elrond lived as a child and the boat is Eärendil's ship I believe.
I viewed the kind of tan ground near the forge as a pine needle-covered ground.

$400 makes the most sense when you divide the sections, but $500 is… it makes sense, considering LEGO prices. But I realized after buying this that spending $500 on any plastic toy is kind of insane, and now matter how good it is I’ll always be thinking “This is half of someone’s rent.” Makes me very wary of buying any of the UCS Star Wars stuff.

13:15, I think the city is Gondolin. Which is usually depicted as pure white and it was the home of the ancestors of Elrond: Turgon and his daughter Idril. It was the greatest city of the first age. It was surrounded by mountains on all sides, and on the picture those must be mountains, not the sea, because there's clearly a road and a river in front of the city.
Oh and the ship might be what took Elrond's wife, Celebrían to Valinor. My first guess was Eärendil's ship, but that supposed to be pure white so it's most likely not that. I cannot think any single ship that is significant to Elrond, and it might be important that the ship is facing left which probably means it's going west.

    • @sahidko1377
      @sahidko1377 Год назад

theoretically the city could be Tirion in Valinor (also usually depicted as white) but yes Gondolin probably makes more sense

This looks just magnificent; it's definitely very expensive and well out of the reach of majority of people, but it makes sense for the size of it, how much stuff is in this and the detailing. I won't go for it personally, not because of the cost (even though that plays a small part) as most of us can all afford this (just a case of are you brave to splash that much on a single Lego set). But it's due to not having the space for this, and not having watched or read anything Lord of the Rings related. But huge respect to the set and another great review!
Looking at the figures and some certain hairpieces, I can already imagine them being used for a Legend of Zelda themed set, if that ever does happen.

17:30 I personally don't really like a lembas here. The fellowship got the lembas from Galadriel in Lórien. Now there's absolutely no problem with these kind of inaccuracies. More stuff is always welcome. It's a nice addition. My problem is that lembas is kind of a sacred food and very very few people knew the recipe. Galadriel learned it in the first age in Doriath from Melian the maia. Also it was very rarely given to non-elves. So it's thematically doesn't fit in Rivendell just lying around on some table. But with that said, for a movie fan or a casual lotr fan it's a nice addition. I will just remove it from there when I finally get my set.

This is an amazing set the architecture is beautiful, an absolutely awesome selection of Minifigures and stunning details. I love it, the trees look incredible too.

Thank you for once again providing the best LEGO review for this monumental set. You did an even better job selling it to me than the designer video, and yet still honest and objective, so you most certainly helped me feel justified in my purchase. I think this is legitimately the most beautiful LEGO set I have ever seen. Can’t wait to build it myself.

Excellent review as always and with balanced context. I couldn't agree more if your a fan of LOTR, a fan of great building techniques, a fan of beautiful Lego sets, then its a must get. Though again if its in your price range, and well worth saving up for as I imagine it will be around for a bit. Also consider where you are going to display as its huge.

I bought this set for myself for my birthday (because I'm an adult). 2,5 days of fun building. And now I realize the spot I had reserved for it is too small so it's still on the coffee table I built it on.

Imma be honest, when I looked at the roof my immediate reaction was 'what's that technique? Is that a new mold/piece?', then I looked closer and realized it's 1x1 tiles turned diagonally. Ingenous.

I have this set. Built it. Took me 13.5 hours. I watched the full extended edition set of LOTR and then went back and watched the first disk of the cast commentary for the two towers.

Another wonderful review from Jang! Thank you! I just bought the set from a retailer for $389, couldn't be happier!!! It's going to be my Christmas calendar, building a couple of bags a day leading up to Christmas. With the trilogy running on the TV while I'm building. 😄

The minifigures faces suffer from the reuse of previous heads, Cornelius Fudge for Gandalf, Ant-Man for Legolas, etc.

Hey Jang! Just FYI, the name Celebrimbor is actually pronounced Kelebrimbor. The "C" is hard. Awesome review. I got the set since day one, and for me it is the best and most beautiful Lego set I have ever owned!! A true masterpiece of Lego art for a true masterpiece of a book!

At the end of the day this is a beautiful set. I’m not a lotr fan I’ve never read the books or watched the movies. But you’re right in saying seeing this set makes me want to read the books and watch the movies. It’s well designed and I think the price reflects that if I’m being honest. Also the sheer volume of the set is insane. It is of course expensive and I probably won’t be able to grab it for that reason as I can not justify dropping $670 on a Lego theme I have no connection too. But I can admire it from afar.

I thought everything about this set was amazing. I'm not even mad about how much space it takes up in my house. 100% worth every penny, especially if we don't end up getting any other LOTR sets in the future.

I dearly hope we do. A revamp of Orthanc, a Barad Dur set, or what I wish for most would be a Minas Tirith set on the scale of the colosseum.
