Hi @Cycling Stories, please can you research the history of the drug laws/anti-doping laws in France and how they came into being?
It seems that the rules are different in France and a lot more strict than in a country such as Ireland that is not known for hosting important cycling events.
Have any of these anti-doping laws in France been introduced as a result of Tour De France debacles, or is there more to the history?
It would also be good to know what other countries in Europe differ to France when it comes to prosecution and what the penalties are.
Theoretically you could do all your training, doped up in somewhere like Ireland, safe in the knowledge that you won't have the police strip search you and send you to jail. So do the French laws have an effect on where teams train?
Fantastic video - Delgado was so cool and that mountain time trial bike of his with all the Campagnolo gear is awesome.
Can we have another video on Theunisse? He was so cool and mysterious. Dedicated to the dope. I am sure you have done him before but so cool.
Also, the 1984 East German Olympic cycling team... The boycott happened so they did not go to LA. But they had these bikes that were totally from the future and these all in one skin suits that were also totally from the future. They were on drugs and they were not going to do anything but win - or so the cycling press at the time expected. Where were those bikes from - they were like stealth fighter jets on two wheels out of Area 51 - and what happened to those riders?
I you don't mind some not so easy research:
1. There was an amateur guy called Helmut Wechselberger who refused for whatever reasons ever to join the pros. It's said that Francesco Moser refused a well paid time trial evant when he heard that Helmut is in the starter list. Years later Helmut won - still as amateur - the Tour de Suisse extremely lucky.
2. Dietmar Hauer was an extremely talented Austrian rider. No wonder he got very early a pro contract in the Belgian world class team Tulip Computers in 1990. After a very short time he resigned because he refused to "take drugs and injections on a daily base". He is now teacher for mechanics.
"He's sprouted wings" Mr. Phil Liggett. Perfect comment
Pan y red bull
Bocadillos and cervezita in front off Indurain
It is not Phil Liggett doing the commentary but @cyclingStories
I love this historical cycling footage
Do a video on 42 year old Chris Horner winning the Vuelta also i believe he had a Motor on his bike very easy to see… After he gets to the summit and wins you can tell he is acting as if he is so tired so crazy to me how he says to the reporters “ok ok that’s enough come on now guys” acting as if he is so exhausted. So please do a video on Chris Horner winning the Vuelta at 42 years old.
I use that Reynolds Jersey when I cycle around town, same shirt as Delgado in that vehicle!!
Dope🎉
Love the Non doped vids
... a check showed that Delgado had used Probenecid, a covering diuretic capable of hiding the intake of anabolic steroids.[4][5] The rider was not excluded from the race, as the product in question was banned by the IOC but not by the UCI [6] (this decision triggered harsh reactions, even from other cyclists), [7] and the following year it was completely exonerated.[8] Note that Probenecid was banned by the UCI just one month after Delgado's victory
Brilliant reporting!
Great stories and well told. Just wish the archive film available could be cleaned up. This is cycling history here - doped or not.
Delgado is still a Champion 🏆. Superbagneres 1989 TdF with Millar and Mottet.

Horner is a commentator on RUclips now😊
Way to go buddy!
Radioactive Roche ? Stephen put his performance on La Plagne down to being able to stretch his limits having also having raced in the Giro. Probably naive but I'll cling to that until proven otherwise.
Lol
Until this year, 1988 was the last time a Canadian won a stage, Steve Bauer.
Bauer is a bit overlooked here! He fought like a champion to finish 4th, or 2nd behind Parra depending on how you see it.
And Bauer finished in Paris 4th. A non climber !!
How about one about the only clean rider to win the Tour, the amazing undoped Greg Lemond with his magical iron injections?
Don't know but he was a prodigy. He basically won everything he entered in the early years. So not a suspicious transformation such as er Perico or Froomey
Like your videos, but why do you never do a video of Sean Kelly, he obviously doped several times, is it because you are Irish!?
Why obviously?
What's DE BIG EYEDEAR?
it wasnt a banned substance , end of. Viva Perico!
LOL this title.
Delgado what a doped. The inspiration for Indurain
Perfect complement to Rooks vid
How do you know who was doped and not? There are still so called champions who never tested positive and never admitted. This channel is crap and it's the past so nothing relevant to date.
Literally zero evidence that lemond or his teammates were doped. On the contrary in fact
No evidence whatsoever, PDM no doping affairs, no riders admitting doping, no, all clean here ;-)
@@NightShooter87 what does pdm have to do with this?
@@drunkensailor112 PDM has everything to do with it. Lemond was on PDM in '88, the year Theunisse tested positive at the Tour. The reality, as this video highlights, is that there was a time when things that are banned now were not banned. So, even though Lemond never tested positive for a banned substance, you can be damn sure he was juiced on something.
@@elithorne-thomsen1083, "you can be damned sure he was juiced in something." Really, how? Are you clairvoyant? Have some proof? Stop talking out of your ass.
Look up LeMonds 89 Giro results and then see how amazing he did at the tour with probably the worst team ever to race.
Delgado didn't dope? Your kidding right? One of the first to start using the new stuff. No evidence of Lemond or Hinault has ever been brought forward, Delgado was caught red handed using a masking agent.
what do you have against greg lemond? you always try to belittle him
