Those silver Shamal wheels are my favourite of all time!
I still have a working Shamal HPW-12 Ti front :)
Sure I've a pair of unused ones somewhere, if you want.
Mate your channel is amazing hope you'll grow as you deserves
Sure do miss them podium girls...
especially @ 6:42 on the right 😍
@M M now there is a girl and a guy and no one kisses.
Weird that all the other genders aren't represented...
@@needfoolthings don't give them some ideas, please...
@@Difdauf I like to challenge those ideas. Only way to prove them worthless.
Another good one guys. You really make it interesting . Many knew the Dr's were creating monsters.love the old bikes.
A source of neverending information on the dark side of cycling! Bravo once more!👏🏻🚴♂️
There is no dark side of cycling...every sport doped and dope today...politics and luck determine who will get caught
@@le0fonzagoric164 So what, the people in charge know everything and determine on their own who wins in any sports?
The 1994 Flèche Wallonne was unbelievable, I remember well the hostility towards the Italian riders with the journalists unleashed on the doping issue. The Belgian television even came to call the group of pursuers "Groupe Alcala", when in that group (full of Italians) there were also Bugno and Chiappucci. It was truly open war between Italy and the rest of the world of cycling. Except for Verbruggen who defended Italian teams...
From my point ov view (I'm Italian) it was the golden era of Italian cyclism and I had a great time watching races, but obviously it was very controversial.
This channel is everything for someone who watched that era and know everything good and bad being part of it.
It's like you already know, but now you can take another different touch and you can't lose it 😂 the narrator is too much hors categorie, pure magic
This was the most exciting time in cycling 🚴♂️
berzin had a brief green patch there for a minute…I liked him✨😇✌️
Berzin's peak result was there mostly because of internal grudges among the team. He declared he could have won the Giro alone, so alienating the favor of his teammates.
In 1995 he was still at peak form. At the Euskal Bizikleta he fought with teammate Francesco Frattini, who he denied a victory. The feud produced one of the most impressive climbs of any time, that of the Alto Arrante in 11'55", with a VAM of 2029 m/h and an estimated power of 7,65 W/kg. The 1995 Giro was won by Rominger mostly because Berzin and Ugrumov fought each-other.
In 1996 he was past his peak, but won a time trial at the Giro, two at the Tour de Swisse, one at the Tour de France, kept the yellow jersey for two days and was well into the race until stage 15, all of that running practically alone.
When Berzin left Big Mig in de rain.
I bet it feels great having a 53 Hemocrit.
I have a natural haematocrit level of 47. It worries me.
@@peterwest5525 dude that's not abnormal at all
For those years, it was not even that high. There were cyclists around 56-60%
I recall watching him in the Milk Race and watching struggling then seeing him a few years later handing Indurains ass to him - I thought it was very suss….but very entertaining !
@The serial Aquascaper Wiggins was def. on gear.
Nice biog - bonus points for crediting the Hoff
Thought you are talking about Greg LeMond..
Very cool!
After Lance got kicked out some young Italian guy came out of nowhere and was shredding dudes in the mountains in the TDF. I remember Phil Leggett being his usual dopey self and calling the guy as the product of the now clean racing era we were about to enjoy. After a rest day they came back to the somber news that the dude was arrested and kicked out of the TDF and France for doping.
I can't remember his name but years later in one last bid to make something of himself in cycling he ended up in the hospital and almost died, after... wait for it... blood doping using a dog's blood.
If you can ever find his name it would make an amazing story.
it looks like parts of this video are taken from a movie. can someone tell me what the movie is?
fun!
medical mechanic :)))
Best outfit ever Indurain's in Follonica
Way to go buddy!
I think I could beat him......well, now anyway.
Rolf is clean!!
Berzin doped, same as all the other riders mentioned here, I don't get why he was 'most controversial' ?
Because as soon as you couldn't go higher than 50% hematocrit he became peloton fodder, which means before that he doped way harder than the others. A pathetic cyclist and asshole human being.
Because other riders before somewhat established themselves whereas Berzin went from zero to hero
@@srxt6758 Froome too.
@@srxt6758 He had many juniores track titles until 1991 (IE won the individual and team pursuit at the world championship at Maebashi 1990), was under compulsory military service in 1992 and turned professional in 1993.

In cycling you have big trade mark shimano campagnolio and.... Ferrari 🤣🤣🤣
Doped is a noun?
Yes. The doped.
@@needfoolthings brilliant response
Greg were you the only clean rider in the history of cycling ??
Let the show begin 🤣🤣 do you files on pogacar it will be interesting , is domination is too much to be believe
Pogacar was 3 minutes slower on hautacam than riis was 26 years ago...
2 weeks is a long time in cycling 😁
@@drunkensailor112 seriously?! And Pogacar is a lot lighter, using much better equipment and (hopefully legal!) preparation and recovery
@@davidmundow1074 yes. Times have been posted after hautacam. Pogacar not even in top 40 best climbing times.
@@drunkensailor112 well I take this as a good sign. It's always difficult comparing times on climbs between different races, so many variables, weather, position in race, summit finish or mid-stage and of course how it was actually raced, solo time trial attack or in a leading group watching each other
53!
Чо за балоны тут катют на Женю!
video title says THE FAT DOPED. I Think its supposed to say THE FAT DOPER
First!
Ahahahah. I always looked at Berzin like the most unnatural rider of that era.
He and bobrik
@@drunkensailor112 Gewiss Ballan a name, a guarantee. Most doped team ever. Berzin, Bobrik, Ugrumov, Riis, Gotti.
@@leonardofabbri7930 yes but even within gewiss there were differences. Some riders totally sucked once rules were more enforced. Someone like zanini for instance was still a pretty good cyclist, but bobrik could barely finish any race after 96
At 1.76m X 68kg, he climbing better than Indurain should have been pretty natural.

when was the Fleche Wallone ever riden AFTER Liege Bastogne Liege. Without further ado... Het your facts together
In 94. I remember the order clearly - Berzin et ses cocottes de cochon won in Liege then a few days later it was the Gewiss 1-2-3 for Fleche.
Michel Van Dyck
Get your facts right before making such a comment. It you that is wrong.
Fleche was 20th April in 1994
Liege was 17th April in 1994
I was at the start line in both.
