depends on team comp; goredrinker ravenous steraks is better if ur team needs frontline but eclipse essence reaver collecter/lord doms is better if you your team lacks dps and needs you to remove theirs. it's basically red kayn vs blue kayn and which is stronger just depends on relative item strength in the current patch. Then there's Dekar's AP rengar which goes like Zhonyas and Cosmic Drive with Phase Rush and I have no idea why that's even remotely viable.

W has an 80% AP scaling on both normal and empowered, plus lich bane procs easily on his Q. 3. It builds a lot of ability haste which rengar loves to constantly heal with W and spam empowered abilities Plus the stasis from zhonyas let's you wait out for cooldowns, and since you have so much haste you'll often have everything back up when you get out

Yeah Dekar has been building a cdr stridebreaker hybrid build lately. Think ad crit struggles more on higher elos. Hybrid build gives you more outplay potential when stacking useful actives like zhonyas and stride.
Rengar doesnt need any movement items he just need cloud soul and empowered q and he can hop over baron and dragon pit or if he has ult with q movement speed
I bet he's really happy with the recent Rengar changes, because being able to crit towers with an AP auto attack is unbelievably sleeper OP. Absolutely shreds towers like a magic knife through butter
Dude.. it's fucking crazy. I have doran's shield and fiendish codex (+ demolish) and if I kill my lane opponent after 5 mins I get 3-4 plates for free. Like you said, it's fucking butter.

But the constant change of items and rework killed the fun I had and tried to make it work ever since then with varying results. Gonna give this a shot and reply to this comment later in the week with my findings. (I even made a video for youtube explaining AP Rengar that I privated since I changed my channel's design a bit from making league videos, which also included starting the BLUE POTION for those whom remember :D)
I actually give it a try, it is funny to play and stupid good. At lv1 with 0 ferocity, use bush jump with Q to stack 2 ferocity, Q when it is up again and then keep jumping to reset passive cooldown and keep ferocity up until you feel like trading by Q-ing then using Powered Q again in quick succession. The movement speed from the passive allows you to escape every time and maybe kill, but due to my little my expertise i prefer to wait to lv 2 to start looking for kills when the W "cleanse" is up.

Needless to say i was down 70 cs and 2 towers while being lower level than bot support. Time to shelve him again until 2024.
Don't give up man. Rengo top is the most fun I've ever had in League and I play basically every type of Rengar playstyle depending on matchup and team comps. W max Rengar with some early AP is an insane lane crusher. Most matchups are hard to lose. There are definitely some very hard matchups like Sett, Darius, Aatrox, Olaf but you don't see them that often honestly and AP builds do better in to them than AD builds. Darius is my perma ban every game.

One of the great things about league is these silly unusual builds you can do like AP on some physical damage characters and stuff like AD Annie Then in dota2 you're not going to see a Sniper go for spell damage type stuff since he'll never benefit from it.

I actually laned against this guy in d3 and surprised he climbed so far to even masters. I was running him down in sidelane as nasus with healing reduction but he was one shotting backline in teamfights but luckily his team was so far behind I won
I just wanted to say that I love your videos, I actually ended up a better Rakan player thanks to your video about the AP Rakan mid. I play the same build support and it is actually surprisingly effective, because Rakan's ratios are busted.
I've never built AD pen or lethality on Rengar ever... I used to play AP one-shot Renger a lot, often with 15+ kills (in the rift) (AP rengar was OP for sure). After the 4 ferocity change, I only play Rengar in ARAM, with tank or bruiser build. I never liked this champion though. It requires fast neural reaction to counter this champion, but everyone gets old. Older players are generally better at Dota2 than LOL, because of too many fast skillshots and one-shot assassins. In comparison, assassins like Zed or Yone are generally friendlier players of all ages.
IDK about the TP vs ignite thing in solo que. I don't take TP in solo que to "help other lanes." I take it to be able to safely back and return to lane when I inevitably get camped by the enemy jungler.

11 months late but, i've just won a game doing that. oneshotted 3 towers, inhib and nexus in like, 30 seconds
you can already jump to dragon and baron as ad rengar, just that you have to somewhat time it properly

I feel like you should know, AD rengar can extend his jump range as well. It’s called a stride breaker and it’s fairly popular on rengar mains
to add something on the video, stridebreaker for ad rengar also works as an alternative for rocketbelt for the extra leap range
