@5:37 Did anyone else get get a mini heart attack because their headphones volume is high? Yeah, no more of that plz. The power of friendship?!?!?! You missed your chance to insert a Yugioh meme Barbs are op :/
When I play with damage numbers l use the expected value for crits. For example, if you crit on 19-20 that's 20% of all hits. When doing the total I add 20% of the bonus damage a crit would give, for each hit.
I began doing something like this mainly on builds focused on critical hits. I tend to learn more math the more I do this stuff and that was an earlier video of mine. I am wondering how you are getting that math though? Crit chance on a 19-20 is 10% and with advantage its 15%. Please let me know if I am missing something!
@@MoonIllusionOfficial Conan the Barbarian Medium humanoid (human), neutral barbarian 1/ranger 1/rogue (thief) 3/fighter 11 (champion). he was trained as a pit fighter and he stole the eye (gem) from the tower so these can be accurate
Conan was whatever you want him to be. One could argue he was a straight fighter. His time as a thief was mostly accomplished by climbing and jumping, not sneaking around. Not that a barbarian or fighter couldn't get proficiency in thieves' tools or stealth. The Athlete feat gets you his famous climbing ability. So yes, you can build a Conan by multiclassing barbarian and rogue but you don't have to.
Thanks for this video. I will try this build on a gew game. I just have one question, the rougue class is only because the evasion skill? If i get this skill with some another way, will you keep the levels of rougue? Thanks!
Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed the build! The character sheet for the Ultimate Tank is now in the description of the video, so if you need to see everything for yourself go ahead and find it there! Hope this is helpful!
I also want to mention that I forgot to add + 22 to 2 attacks on the screen in the editing but that would still end up adding up to 280. It was just the visual missing not the math!
@@aguywithtime3876 This video is the guide? Do you mean the character sheet? If its that and I don't have it in my description I can put it there for sure.
One small problem with the damage and crit chance you mention; Reckless Attack only applies to the first attack you make in a turn, not every attack. You won't be getting as many crits as you outline here.
Quoted straight out of PHB: ”Starting at 2nd Level, you can throw aside all concern for Defense to Attack with fierce desperation. When you make your first Attack on Your Turn, you can decide to Attack recklessly. Doing so gives you advantage on melee weapon Attack rolls using Strength during ‘THIS TURN’, but Attack rolls against you have advantage until your next turn.” As you can see, every attack this turn benefits from Reckless Attack. But I understand your confusion, as you must trigger it on your first Attack.
Can you make a Paladin/Warlock build? My favourites are Vengeance Paladin 6/ Hexblade 14 or Oathbreaker Paladin 8/ Hexblade 12 The latter one also functions as a necromancer, especially if you allow the classfeatures UA (warlocks get animate dead) My backstory was, that I (fallen Aasimar) had made a pact to serve my father, a demon. But when he ordered me to sacrifice my mother for a dark ritual to revive him, I broke my oath and betrayed him. The other cultists killed my family in revenge, and I had to flee. Now I want revenge, and am slowly learning to be a good person. The other players also had the demon do something to their family in their backstory, so he was the bbeg
I would say that the wizard tank I made is a really good mage slayer as they are resistant to all spell damage, have advantage on spell saving throws and are a wizard and can counterspell their spells. If you want go ahead and check that video out and see if you like it.
If you want a character who is focused on killing mages (for example as a villenous group in your story), I suggest monks, especially shadow monks. give them each a ring of spellstoring with counterspell in it. Monks make lots of attacks -> concentration saves stunning strike -> they won't get to act until it's too late they have good saving throws (dex proficiency and high dex + high wis) probably will win the initiative (especially with alert) and shadow monks specifically can be invisible and then teleport to the wizard, so that he has no chance to prepare. You can not beat a high level wizard on his terms. You need to ambush him to have a chance. This way, a group (say 3-5) level 6 shadow monks can easily hunt down even lv 20 wizards. You could probably make an interesting story out of that. Similar to the legend of Korra, there is a cult running around, which despises magic. Magic should be reserved for the gods. Wizards casting spells is pure blasphemy. Your group could then be hired by an old wizard, who fears for his life (and is in hiding) to eradicate the cult. Maybe you could even describe a couple of his friends deaths in comedic ways (lich was killed on the toilet etc) The cult could come to such a belief, because an evil spellcaster did a lot of harm. Maybe one your party had to stop previously. That way, your players could see for themselves, that magic is indeed dangerous if wielded by the wrong hands, and the cult kind of does have a point. Might lead to interesting discussions/ moral problems
@@aldoushuxley5953 Wow thanks man! Yeah I would say Monks are really good at stopping most mages in their tracks. ESPECIALLY with Stunning Strike spam. Once threw a lich at a monk, it didnt go to well for the lich just saying.
So you're going rogue for 7 levels for the defense capability? Nice thought experience, but ineffective. When does this build come together? Level 12? And what is your Wisdom save? The problem with high hp/ high damage builds is you've created the greatest weapon for your DM to use against you. I'll admit, the synergy between rage and uncanny dodge and evasion is good. But you are giving up a lot of hp to get it. I'm not sold. You gave up a lot of secondary abilities, sneak attacks, cha bonus to initiative, just to get those two abilities. But mostly, I am disappointed with how long it takes to "kick in". And what happens when you get hit with status effects like stun or charms.
I'm sorry that you can't see the potential of this build. Firstly this is just the first stepping stone for you, I really don't expect my viewers to do exactly what I do in the videos cause we all have preferences. Secondly the build is good from the start, we are a Bear Totem Barb, probably the most annoying tank class in the game from the start. Yes no sneak attack, originally I was going to have this build be oriented around sneak attack but I made one crucial discover, sneak attack is garbage at damage dealing. Barbarian pure strength is much more effective. Lastly yes Wisdom and Intell saves are probably gonna be lacking, but you are acting like it wasn't for barbarians to begin with. But since we are a Bear Totem it doesn't really matter too much now does it? And I know you are going to say that Psycic damage can fully effect this barb to which I say either accept that your character will have a rare weakness or instead of human go Kalashtar to cover that weakness up. And your comment about hp being low is laughable, it sits at almost 200 and you have an effective HP with resistances and sometimes downright immunities of about 500.
strong v damage yes, weak against spells, you can't save the important mind control spells so the big bad just mc's you and has you kill the party, shit tank build. this isn't a tank, this is a solo player build, how do you protect your party, no battle field control, no damage reduction to others, pretty poor tank. Ancient guardian barbarian is a much better tank. Also wouldn't you be better with some druid to shape change for more hp when needed.
1. Mind controlling enemies are rather rare, and if the big bad had mind controlling powers then it would make sense that the dm would have some work around. Plus its a team game, so just because the barbarian is mind controlled one session out of 50 doesn't necessarily mean that the entire party is screwed. In fact all barbarians and low wis/intell characters fall to this kind of thing, so your suggestion to go Ancestral Guardian wouldn't change anything in that regard really. 2. This barbarian is extremely strong against Constitution ST and Dexterity ST spells, which are two extremely common ones. Why? Prof. In Con saves and advantage on Dex Saves on effect that they can see and having the ability to always take half damage on dex saves or no damage. Which is something that happens way more often. 3. It is a tank, your mere presence and smart positioning can save teammates, you don't necessarily have to reduce damage on other teammates to be a tank. Most "tank" builds just end up blocking enemies from getting within range of other allies, like combining polearm master and sentinel. This build doesn't need that and can easily without pressure get into any enemies face and stay there so the other party members can freely do other things. 4. Lastly, multiclassing or going into druid is a great build, and one that I plan to showcase in the future, but by your own logic having more hp/taking less damage is a "shit tank build" and doesn't "protect the party"
if u want the most hit points go for: 1 hill dwarf draconic ancestry sorcerer put con as highest stat 2 multi class into barbarian for the rest of the build 3 4 go for totem warrior (bear) 5 take the durable feat 6 7 8 9 take the dwarvern resilience feat 10 11 12 13 take the tough feat 14 15 16 17 up con 18 19 max out con 20
Why do you take draconic sorcerer at first level? Ist just 7 + con in comparison to barb 12 + con I guess it would make sense if you got that +1 hp per level every time but I think you only get it if you level sorcerer

Rogue Barbarian is CLASSIC, that's exactly what Conan is.
Great video, but I can't help but notice a strong lack of sexual bear innuendos in it
I mean you can close your eyes and imagine it.

Going rogue is both for Uncanny Dodge and Evasion to have those two really tanky abilities early.
