Istanbul's airports are extremely overpriced and expensive. 5 euros for a can of coke zero, 10 euros for a stupid little sandwich! Massive ripoff!! By all means, bring food and drinks along with you!!! Narva is not for the faint hearted, you'll be standing a lot and will be exposed to the elements, so prepare accordingly! Also here, bring enough food and drinks and time your digestion process accordingly - no toilets once you're on the bridge! I've stepped in turds from little kids who just couldn't hold any more but THERE IS NO TOILET ON THE BRIDGE IN NARVA. Will try Kaliningrad next time. In any case, Igor's advice is spot on and otherwise helpful for any travelers wanting to discover Russia and (here I fully agree with him) the best city in the world - Saint Petersburg.
I hear a new law was just passed effective January 1 2025 making it more difficult for foreigners to get a SIM card, like a requirement to go to a government office and get a social security number (SNILS) and go to a bank and submit biometrics before you can buy a SIM card. Not sure if this applies to tourists but it would be good to get some clarity on this.
If a foreign person has a TRP, how is it then with regristration on a rental or airbnb type of living? Is it still difficult get regristrated by the landlord?
I will be discussing this with a lawyer on my channel, first part is airing tonight: ruclips.net/video/vFR_vbyvP-4/видео.html Then tehere will be 2nd video with me talking about me getting a residency permit in russia...so im touching on the subject. @@sunestahlberg8800 id say fly to tallinn, and then they way i explain via Narva or Luhamaa. Or fly to vilnius/ Gdansk and to kaliningrad . Unkes the tickets to istanbul are very cheap. OR via Norway’s and Russia border in the north

Hi Igor. What would be in your best opinion as a choice of coming to Russia for crossing if one is moving under the new decree and bringing 2 large dogs with them? Presently I myself am looking at flying thru Istanbul to Moscow from Vancouver Canada with a stop in Toronto before proceeding to Istanbul where I will switch planes before proceeding to Moscow. Please take into consideration that those who are flying with medium or large size dogs will have to use large dog kennels so travelling by bus or on foot thru certain crossing would be an issue with those with large kennels among their own personal baggage items when replying to below.
hmm you could do it via Luhamaa border, but there are tme slot you need reserve to do a drive in through border. otherwise come to mind.. a) just bringing stuff in while to your best abilities, b) fly in via istanbul to your best abilities c) hope for finnish border to open border (travel witht hour own ride, try to rent a person who would drive...in that case i could try to searvh in our local group chats for somebody who could do it)
@@Igorinrussia The only issue I see with Luhamaa on Google maps is that their is no international airport near by. One would have to rent a car and drive across Estonia to the Luhamaa crossing unless the Narva cross was open in the North. But thank you for the info Igor. And yes hopefully the Finnish border opens soon as I see the same issue with crossing on foot thru Kaliningrad from Poland with my dogs. >Where my best option seems to be flying thru Istanbul at the present time for those with large/medium size dogs that have to be transported in kennels while on the plane. Additionally crossing any of these other crossings that you have mentioned. One including myself would have to find a private driver with a large van to accommodate the kennels and be willing to cross into Russia via Estonia, Latvia or Finland VS just flying to Moscow thru Istanbul saving one self some of the hassle'
Instructions: how to import a pet to Russia Step # 1. Carefully study the veterinary and sanitary requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union Familiarize yourself with veterinary requirements when importing pets into the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). These requirements are set out in chapters 15 and 40 of the Customs Union Commission Decision No. 317. The EAEU allows the import of dogs and cats transported for personal use, in the amount of no more than two heads without the permission of the Rosselkhoznadzor and preliminary quarantine, but with the issuance of an international veterinary passport. All other animals and birds must be quarantined before being imported into Russia. Quarantine is carried out by the competent department of the country at the place of residence of the animal with the owner. In addition, their movement must be accompanied by veterinary certificates. It is allowed to import unidentified animals (without a chip, tattoo, ring, tavern, etc.) for keeping at home.
It is also important to call the airline you have chosen to travel and find out the rules for transporting animals. Step # 2. Vaccinate the animal To import animals into Russia, you must issue an international veterinary passport. It should contain notes on vaccination, entered into the document by a veterinarian. Vaccination is carried out no later than 20 days before shipment, if it has not been done within 12 months. Rabies vaccination All carnivores must be vaccinated against rabies. It is allowed to import animals vaccinated with a drug that gives protection against rabies for 3 years, upon confirmation by a veterinarian that the period for maintaining immunity has not expired, or upon laboratory confirmation that the intensity of immunity against rabies is at least 0.5 IU/ml. In other cases, laboratory confirmation of the intensity of immunity against rabies is not required.
Everything you said in this video just reinforced what we experienced in Moscow . I found out the hard way that the banks , in my case Sberbank, do not give the best exchange rates. Up to 6 rubles per dollar less than the exchange shops that are easy to find. For the Metro in Moscow I always paid with my мир card as I passed through the turnstiles. Does the Metro in Saint Petersburg work the same? Or is it necessary to buy a metro card?
@@rayjones5014 thabk you! Next time youll know for sure. By the way, in Moscow it would be better to buy either the Troika card for all transports or for visitors like us, a daily unlimited ticket (if you use metro plenty), there are 1 or 3 day tickets (3 day was like 650 rubles). In Saint Petersburg ots the same system. U should buy a Podorozhnik card for examplw from metro, costs like 70 rubles, put money on it, and travel.
@@Igorinrussia I know that the Moscow metro was charging my card 64 rubles each pass through turnstile. To me that is dirt cheap already when compared to any metro system in the west, New York City subway system currently charges $2.90.
