    @PixieGirl1181 Thanks for the information, I have actually heard that before but had completely forgotten it! Hmm, I wonder what their reasons for quitting are. I imagine that there are many pressures against living as a maiko/geisha.

    @SolitaryKiwi I dont believe she is. From what I know usually Geisha become oneesan in Kamishichiken, it's not really often seen for a maiko too. Umechiho,Umesaya, and Umehisa however, also recently quit.

    I did some research and it appears she was one of three that never had an oneesan, or at least none that could be found. It appears common now in this district as most of the Ichi- line girls also do not have one it seems.

    Umaye is the only maiko left at Umeno now. They do have a minarai but unsure of the name. As far as I know the geiko are all still there.

    Somehow Umeraku-san seems a bit more experienced than Umechiho here. Maybe Umeraku is the oneesan? But they both dance very well! (Not that I'm the one who should have an opinion on the subject...)
