  • HOW TO BALANCE ON A DIRTBIKE
    In this weeks Sedlak Offroad School riding tip Daniel Sedlak gives you three different exercises to improve your balance on your dirt bike.
    One of the most important skills in off road motorcycle riding is your balance yet most of us never really focus on improving that skill when we go out for a ride.
    Here are three fun ways to challenge yourself the next time you are on your bike.
    1. SLOW BALANCING
    Stand up and roll around in first gear. Make sure your feet and legs are in the right position and you have one finger on the front break and on finger on the clutch. Now try to find your balance point and try to balance your bike for as long as you can while coming to a stop.
    2. LEFT HAND ON YOUR BACK
    This is one of my favorite exercises.Take your left hand off the bars and put it behind your back. Now ride around standing up. Focus on riding on the balls of your feet to have better leverage and squeeze the bike with your knees. You are giving up most of your control on the bars so the only way to keep your bike in control is to use your legs. This is a great exercise to improve your foot placement and your leg work.
    3. RIDING WITH BOTH LEGS ON ONE SIDE OF THE BIKE
    This one sounds a little silly but once you give it a try you realize how difficult it is to ride your bike like that. Give it a crack and see how far you can go.
    Please comment below and let us know how these exercises work for you and if they helped improve your riding.

    Best instruction video on balance yet! I am just a trail rider but the first tip about foot position was watching the video for on it's own let alone the left hand off the bars! Brilliant and thanks!

    Great that you share these secrets But i have a question. Isn't that slow pace killing the bike???(i have
    a crf 250 r) And if not how often can i exercise these kind of drills- of course opening fulll throttle from drill to drill?? Thank you sincerely!!!!!

    • @SocalOffroadSchool

      The drills are no problem for your bike as long as you don’t do them until the bike overheats but that would take a while.

    How far back are you moving your feet on the pegs? Can you use the rear brake at that point?

    • @SocalOffroadSchool
      @SocalOffroadSchool  Год назад +1

      You want to be on the balls of your feet and then move forward to shift or brake. Once you are done braking you move back on the foot peg.

    What about rear brake and shifting with feet in that position? Sorry maybe a dumb question. Noobie rider here.

    • @SocalOffroadSchool
      @SocalOffroadSchool  2 года назад

      You move your foot forward on the foot peg to shift or brake and once you are done you move back so that the ball of your foot is resting on your foot peg. We will make a follow up video to explain that a little bit better. Thanks for watching.

  • @DADSGETNDOWN

    Not exactly "ready" for anything, I need my foot over the rear brake. And MXers don't do that stuff, they are either on the tank over the. Bars or butt over the back seat head over tank. They fly over stuff and you really need the balance proper mixed with the speed. Rpm and torque you are at. Going slow, yep, this would be good.

    You forgot the most important drill..crashing. so go grip it and rip it right into a brick wall...it's fun, exciting and will really push your skills to the limit.
