- Season 04, Episode 110 (day twenty): hey squad. welcome to another opening day from alta ski area! the 2023/2024 ski season started off a little later than expected up in alta, but it was definitely worth the wait! after a recent 10-12" storm, its safe to say that we were greeted with a mini utah pow day for opening day under somewhat sunny skies. absolutely stoked we were able to get some real skiing in for our twentieth day on the hill!

I’m planning on getting an ikon pass next year and was wondering what resorts in either Colorado or Utah you would recommend Also I’ll be there during late December to January so keep that in mind

Looks like epic skiing. I lived in Aspen
For almost 50 years. Skied almost every day.
50 years do the math. Unfortunately I have stage 5 kidney disease and now I’m in Grand Junction doing dialysis 3 days a week. However being able to watch videos like yours keeps me in touch with the sport.

Good ol lake effect snow. I had a season pass to Alta one winter when we lived down there. Did alot of poking around and finding the not so hidden gems. No bad days😅.
it's crazy to me that solitude can open so much earlier but alta only opens a couple weeks later with basically everything open off those lifts while solitude still has only 1 run
Yeah! I would rather wait a little longer for coverage rather than just open a groomer off the bottom but I think there needs to be quite a bit more snowpack in LCC to open safely
@@LucasCatania17 this thursday i heard it's supposed to snow for up to 5 days straight, so hopefully by mid december the snowpack will be great

Well you gotta understand the altitude of alta vs Solitude.
Nice! Brings back memories of the days of my youth. Alta, Snowbird and surrounds were always the most reliable for early season snow coverage, and how about that powder? Simply the best! Back in 1987, me and my ski buddy Bruce, packed up my new 1987 Nissan Pathfinder with gear, supplies and anticipatory excitement and embarked on an epic 30-day road trip to Salt Lake City, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Lake Tahoe and Mammoth. Keep up the good work!!

and that is why little cottonwood canyon is better than most ranges in the US. I keep telling my brothers and friends to stop always going to Park City, and go hit up Alta, Snowbird, and Brighton. Some of the best skiing in the US, IMO. Also, I think this is first video i have seen where you actually filmed you falling. Ha

Went skiing for my first day this season at solitude on Thanksgiving! Only one run open but still had a fun time!

thanks ben! nice to meet you and your wife and put a face to the name! heaters were awesome. subtle and minimally invasive, but kept my feet nice and warm!

That looked like amazing snow for just after thanksgiving. I’m doing a trip with my dad to Utah the weekend of the meet up in march. 2 days at PC and 1 day each at Alta and Snowbird. Hopefully little cottonwood gets some good snow that weekend 🤞
March averages the highest snow totals of any month in Little Cottonwood, so hopefully, that is true this year!

Little cottonwood I think creates its own weather....all I know is the week I went in Jan 2008 was fabulous....going to try and get a week maybe two this winter.....all depends on how my mom is doing....92 she is. Great video ....another two three storms the rocks will be buried!

You should really ski at alta more often, its such a good resort but you almost never go there, i got so excited when i saw this video because its my favorite resort.

Awesome day Lucas! I may be in the minority here… I don’t want to see you get hurt… better to be safe because we love watching your videos daily 😊 I have had two micro fractures (one in each knee) it’s not fun rehabbing while the 🌍 is skiing. Please practice patience… you’ll give those great pow runs we love to watch. Remember it only takes one unseen object to ruin your ski season. The pow will come… the stoke will be most high 😊⛷
