- “The Golden Bachelor” received a lot of attention this TV season. Gerry Turner was painted as a grieving retired restaurateur who has not dated anyone since his wife of 43 years passed away from cancer six years ago. Now, a bombshell report in the Hollywood Reporter claims his ex-girlfriend revealed Turner wasn't always the "nice guy" portrayed on TV. He allegedly did not want her to attend his high school reunion after she gained 10 pounds.
I had a feeling he wasn’t as good as he was pretending to be. I still don’t believe you can fall in love with 3 people at the same time. And telling all 3 you love them is tacky.

I have just tuned in to this for 3 minutes and all I can say is, this is embarrassing. The whole bachelor/bachelorette concept is a ridiculous, narcissistic, ritual of humiliation. Gross!
I think he’s creepy. He’s a liar. He also told the final few women he loved them. He threw around the “L” word way too much.
Going into the hometowns he said "I only want to say I love you to who I feel will be my next wife" (Or something along those lines.) Then proceeds to tell all 3 women, he loved them.

We don't know his side of the story. Besides, Theresa has more in common with him and understands because she is also widowed. I know all too well because I was widowed at 52, and my boyfriend lost his wife (also my friend) 29 days after my husband. We were all friends for years and have been going to the same church. It's been 3 years since our spouses went to Heaven. We understand and will love our late spouses forever while still loving each other and planning a wedding.
Beyond ridiculous that these seniors can go on a few dates and be so in love. I'm 75 and a widow of almost 10 years. You don't fall in love after a few dates with anyone.

Didn't his deceased wife Toni work in Corporate? I wasn't for sure what she did for a living, but an article stated Gerry was looking to donate her corporate clothing to Dress for Success. Corporate business usually pays well, I thought.

That was 40 years ago when he sold his franchise business. I don’t think the money he profited would be enough to retire forever and pick up part time work only. As Gerry stated in some form he was merely working to help out places that need it for the good of society. Not exact quote.

I don't think he will get married because he just wanted the fame and glory and whatever amount of cash the show gave him. Theresa's family will not let her be fooled. She'll take her cash from the show and invest it wisely. Six weeks of filming should be a fair amount of cash.

Let me begin by saying that I am no fan of reality shows. After watching several episodes of different programs over the years, I can only conclude that the various formats offer no reality whatsoever.
A friend asked me to watch a GB episode last week. Being a 72 yr old life long heterosexual single woman , I was appalled by the desperation of these women in spite of their forced bravura, age inappropriate clothing and (in some cases) obvious cosmetic surgery. Your neck doesn’t lie, sweetie.
In any case, I was not surprised to learn this week that Mr GB is ,like many men I have known over the years, a liar and a deceiver-employment, dating, finances. Goodbye and good luck to all these pathetic losers. In the future, I’ll be tuning in to predators hunting wildebeests on the African Savannah.

I'm not caught up on all the gossip with him but I have never liked Leslie. There's something off about her, maybe she's depressed or something. I thought she was that way long before the finale. She's too dependent on other people to make her happy. I think she's not happy with herself. The polar opposite Theresa is very happy and confident. I think that's what wins.
