- Despite capturing America's heart it looks like the 'Golden Bachelor' may have a not so golden past. 72-year-old Gerry Turner was plucked from obscurity earlier this year when it was announced that he would be ABCs first 'Golden Bachelor' in which he dates women in their golden years and all looking for a second chance at love.

Lies aside, re-entering the dating world a mere month after his wife died is a HUGE red flag! I’m not saying he needed to wait even a year, but a MONTH? Speaks volumes about his lack of emotional maturity.

Gerry made a wrong choice. He said he wanted a kind woman and he could tell by her eyes. Well, there were a few who were that woman, but i dont see what is kind about the person he picked. Really....what is kind about her.
NO surprise here if you just look at how he’s treated the women on the show, totally leading them on, kissing and saying he loved one woman in FRONT of her family, and then there’s Leslie, too. The man is beneath contempt.
Just watched most of the finale until it became evident he chose the woman with “the Joker” smile. The breakup with Leslie was ghastly and well for maybe the first time ever saying…”I was triggered!”. He led that woman on SO hard and she was so clearly blindsided. I had no stomach to watch him and the smile waltz into sunset. Turned it off and took to the internet. Turns out Leslie dodged a bullet here. He doesn’t seem to have an issue with hurting a woman’s feelings. Ugh. Bravo for Leslie! She deserves better.
Thank you for your truth. It was cruel how he played games with Leslie's emotions. Everyone was blindsided. I could not believe he would be so bold in using severe levels of gaslighting techniques to gain pleasure from Leslie's pain. Boy he is really going to do a real ugly gaslighting number on Theresa the big money maker with the perfect Joker's smile. ☹☹👎🏽👎🏽
@@elevatetogrow6710 I was solid Team Lesli as wee Theresa just rubbed me the wrong way from the get go. After the finale and the Hollywood Reporter expose… my heart actually goes out to Theresa! Seems like money is an issue to old Gerry… and I am guessing it really isn’t to the still working and accomplished trader. Even the game he played with the proposal seemed needlessly cruel (watched on internet not show). I really don’t like this guy at all. I’d be uneasy if I were Theresa as her future husband seems pretty “easy come easy go”… with his wife’s passing too!

The other women who weren't chosen dodged a bullet. He claims he is a "restauranteur?" He owned a hamburger stand and sold it in 1985! A bit of a stretch, ya think? After that, he worked as a bathtub installer and maintenance man. You need to read the Hollywood Reporter's full article of 11/29/23. You will be stunned at what they reveal about Gerry's past. He started dating a mere 30 days after his wife died. Do you remember how his face lit up when he found out that Theresa was a securities trader? The Golden Ticket for him to make money off her. Not exactly the Golden Bachelor, but a Golddigger!
Yeah this article was quite the eye opener. He appeared to gain interest in T after she alluded that she was financially comfortable.

I definitely picked up on his intrigue with Theresa’s financial entrepreneurial skills if you can call it that. They deserve each other.

He was totally into Leslie and she was "the One" until Teresa told him about her financial expertise and how successful she had become as a stock trader. Everything changed for him in that moment. Leslie never had a chance after that........

He does seem pretty quick with the seductive lines. I did hear earlier that a bartender lady in his town said he had come in there since his wife's death and had dated several women.
High school sweethearts, marriage of 43 yrs. Gerry kept himself fit. & Healthy throughout the marriage. Toni appeared to have suffered from depression. I can tell this from the pictures of the two together through the years. Depression affects health a great deal. No one's marriage is as ideal as described. They wanted to paint a fairy tale type story. This "prince" Gerry obviously left out a great deal of the downs in their marriage. No one wants to cheer for a messy Prince or Golden bachelor. Reality shows are a joke. I'm sure their marriage in the beginning was wonderful, but come on people let's be real here.

He never fooled me, not from the get-go. He creeped me out. Although I must say from what I've read about him in these articles, he has exceeded my low expectations. You always have feelings about people one way or the other, but one does tend to question oneself. It is rare that you find your instincts validated so quickly.
It's TV, nothing is what it seems. News, reality TV is nothing but a different type of soap operas

A bacterial infection. She had been sick for about a month and didn't want to go to the doctor. She wasn't getting better and Gerry finally said he was taking her to the hospital despite her protest.
