I think we should talk more about the era that Trish debuted, because she always looked like the *pop star* of wrestling.
Her fashion sense at the time was an absolute reflection of the hip hop scene. From chunky go-go boots, the cowgirl pop crossover and shimmery fabrics. Even by 2004 she looked like a music video vixen with her flared jeans, jumpsuits and track fits. It absolutely made her standout from the others that were always bikini clad, casually dressed, or the typical gears.
Also having Lil Kim do her theme song down the line set her apart, it made you feel like she's a star which she is.

It just further solidifies that WWE knew they were pushing a star when they repackaged her from being a valet to upcoming wrestler.
I actually wasn’t exposed to Trish or wrestling until Smackdown Vs Raw (2005) when I was about 8 because I was doing Olympic wrestling as a kid at the time. And to my comprehension, like you say, she stood out like a pop star compared to the rest of the divas who were either a cookie cutter wrestler or full on cover girl because of her hip hop appeal in her style and presentation!
I really have to say it’s 100% Stratusfaction that made her the Diva of a Decade. Because she just had a level of versatility in her personality unlike Sable or Chyna that took her all the way to a legendary career.
After 2002 or around that time I started to see heavy Jennifer Lopez and Britney Spears influences in her fashion
@@doubleyouexwhyamzed Absolutely! She definitely wore more shiny fabrics like t-shirts she’d tie back with vinyl or metallic pants. Which Brittney was synonymous with when she first broke out in late ‘99 early ‘00.
I’d say Trish looked more hip hop oriented in mid 2004 during her heel run, that’s when she started wearing more urban clothes like low rise jeans, bomber jackets, and all her pants were flare styled or tucked in her boots.
Which mid 2000’s was definitely more hip hop centric than it was pop like today’s culture. You had Lil Kim, J Lo, Mary J Blige, and Beyoncé taking off which were pushing urban styles into mainstream fashion.
There were still other subcultures like alternative and rave that WWE tried to replicate with Lita and Victoria, but Trish’s “gimmick” as the industry Diva was probably so favorable because it was already becoming a mainstay in popular culture.
@@TheRealAdaWong She was a great example of WWE presenting someone like a star and doing it perfectly. I was just a bit older than you and when she was a champion, every time she was on TV it felt important. Plus she was athletic enough that you could take her seriously as a champion.
Everyone fawned over Lita and would say she’s a better wrestler cause she would do a moonsault, but imo Trish was always smoother, more athletic, and way better technically. Plus she had way more personality without being a stereotypical blonde bimbo. I’d even say she’s the women’s wrestling GOAT if not for Mildred Burke.

I remember Trish Stratus from her pre-WWE days as a fitness model. She always had the charisma, but it took her a minute to develop as an in-ring performer.
As an amateur linguistics nerd, Trish loving linguistics somehow made her 100x hotter than she’s always been. Such a cute personality!

In all seriousness, Ivory was the first person I thought about. 😂 I remember her sharing in an interview about how annoyed she was about “pretty blondes who couldn’t wrestle!”
All of her themes were awesome. The T&A theme, her solo stratusfaction theme (whiplash), and of course her last/current.
Fun fact: Trish's theme is done by Lil Kim and Victoria's theme by Nicki Minaj.

Trish is the GOAT of the women wrestlers. She is my all time 3rd favorite wrestler after Triple H and Undertaker.
She should do one more run and win the women's tag team titles with one of the other women wrestlers from the past depending on who is still in good enough condition to be in the ring consistently.

I know ivory and Jacqueline gave Trish a hard time in the beginning and even Chyna. It makes sense. They were the wrestlers who weren’t being taken seriously and then this fitness model comes in and she’s getting more airtime than the women who actually paid their dues.
Ivory and Jacqueline immediately came to mind. I’m not sure it would have been Chyna since she herself came from fitness

I’ll never understand her insistence on trying to rewrite history with her blatantly false statement of “there was no Women’s division.” Wrong. There absolutely was. Jackie, Sable, Ivory, Lita, and Chyna (among others) were all Champions BEFORE Trish. People like Tori (DX), Luna, and Molly competed in that division. Trish herself competed in that division. Chyna left WWF and for a few months the belt wasn’t on TV but the division was absolutely still there. It’s weird that she tries to claim (over and over) that somehow her first title reign is when the “division started.”
She’s right. There may have been female wrestlers but there was no female division. Only gimmick matches to provide eye-candy. Women’s wrestling wasn’t taken seriously until the late Attitude era/early Ruthless Aggression era.
All of those you mention were just used on bikini contests , bra and panties, mud matches etc. Real wrestlers like Luna , Jackie and Tori were treated like clowns , while eye-candy Debra , Sable , The Kat etc. were given title reigns just because they were pretty , and they just defended them on pool matches , evening gown matches etc. Chyna was the only one kind of being used , Trish title reigns made the female division to get on hype

I have a strong feeling the divas who were mean to Trish were Chyna, Ivory, definitely the Kat and Jacqueline the way Jacqueline used to stiff Trish in all their early matches..jealousy is a brutal thing.
Jacqueline stiffed everyone, and the only time I’ve seen Jacqueline just beat the snot out of Trish was that women’s title match in 2001 when Trish landed a stiff kick on Jackie first. I think the ones who gave her a hard time were Ivory, and especially Chyna.
