Admit it, we are all hoping to see her on the floor in Paris too! Who knows if she’ll get to have another move named after her, right? And, you all know that’s not a too-impossible feat for her!
And with the Paris Olympics fast approaching, Simone Biles is one of the favorites expected to light up the venues, delighting spectators and a TV audience of billions!
That’s not surprising at all, given that she is the most decorated female gymnast ever, with 30 World and Olympic medals.
#simonebiles has won 25 World medals, including 19 golds, which is notably the most in gymnastics history. Besides amassing a remarkable collection of awards, she also made history various times throughout her career. And she's still out there as a strong competitor in the sport, even though she took a short break.
It is no secret that Biles surprised fans around the world when she withdrew from five event finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Although she ultimately returned to earn bronze on the balance beam - her 32nd medal between the Olympics and World Championships, she disappeared from competitive gymnastics after that.

Let the ladies determine what they should wear in order to feel safe as well as capable of performing.
I was in professional gymnastics and a Leo that shows an asscrack or one that’s a bit wider in no way influences your performance. It’s what you’re used to. My mom learned new dives back in the seventies with sweats for safety but competed with bathing suits. You get used to things. Same with figure skaters with new skates.
Let them wear what is comfortable to them.
Couldn’t agree more. Now, let’s take a look at women’s volleyball.
The Leo’s in the 80’s were perfect. They covered the entire booty, we’re thicker so no crack showed, and still looked professional. The Leo’s now are half way up the booty, shows the crack and is not correct for little girls to wear.
Especially NCAA... pretty sure they purposely order them a size small.
Yea very innappriate for any young lady especially minors to be wearing uniforms cutting up into the cheeks and private area... leggings and a fitted top or a looser body suit or body shorts it's a much better option

They can wear long pants and long sleeves in beach volleyball if they want …they say they like the skimpy outfits so that sand falls out of them easier

One team got fined for NOT wearing the skimpy underwear like bottoms.

This is true in many, if not most women's sports. Even public school girls track, gymnastics, swimming, diving, and other sports have skimpy, revealing uniforms that place the girls on display. The girls uniforms are selected by people who don't have to wear them and tolerated by parents who are afraid to say anything for fear that their objections will go against their children. It is very rare to see such revealing uniforms on men and boys in sports of any kind.
How is this fair and how is this about equality? In my Boomer generation we fought so hard for women's equality in the 1960s and 1970s and for women to not be viewed as sex objects but now, in the 21st Century, it's no longer about equality but these younger generations are now encouraging young women to display themselves as sex objects.
The leotards are appalling and I'm glad somethings are starting to change!
😂 I was just watching the woman's high jump comp and was thinking, I like that these women aren't wearing the crazy uniforms that the gymnast and divers wear. I'm glad to see that now they have a choice. 👍
A choice like this is long overdue in my opinion. One should be comfortable in what they are wearing in order to perform at their very best.
Simone Biles didn’t drop out solely for mental health reasons, she got the twisties.

@@pjaypender1009sorta I mean it is mental but it happens to a lot of gymnast not just gymnast with mental health issues it’s just that they forget where they are, which just happens sometimes. (I am a gymnast)
I like the German uniform. I’ve seen some footage of leotards revealing too much so I would prefer the longer legs after all it’s the gymnastic quality that matters
I don't really like the red color because red is not my favorite color, but I think the full body leotards look very elegant and dignified.
I feel like some of the issue now is modern photography. When we watch them in real time, they flip and leap gracefully at high speeds. All we see is the athleticism, grace and beauty of the moves. Then these ladies are photographed in mid flight or flip which often unfortunately, also catches them in mid split or bent over. Leotards do very little in protecting their dignity.

As a white male, I have hoped to see the end of women's sports outfits being so revealing. For that matter, TV news presenters that are women have to have lots of different outfits that are more revealing than men's suits. Let's get away from the old sexist ways.

After a protest, which I got a number of boys to join with the girls, girls were allowed to wear pants coming to school but had to take them off and wear skirts while at school. How stupid is that? Boys wore pants, who does make these ridiculous rules? Women don't have control over their bodies in many states in the U.S. but force a man to donate blood would be unheard of.

Originally greeks performed Olimpics completely naked and they had skin treatments before the games (they also used to drink a tea made of garlic to make their skin look healthier)
It was not just the celebration of human performance but also of the beauty of human highest standards. Their philosophy was that: what's good is also beautiful and vice versa.
'Sexualization' as we intended today it's a modern concept and the risk is to criminalize (even more) the femininity of women's body. We must not end up believing that a woman's natural form is something to be ashamed for, to cover up or else it will be the 'only' thing that anyone see. It's a slippery slope!
That said, I think it should be allowed to have options for both men and women to respect individual sensitivity. We have the technology to make pants, sleeves etc of someone's skin color so we can have a standardized uniform and still give the option of coverage
give them options and not be forced. If they feel to wear long pants, short or bikini. It is their options to feel safe.
Until it is getting more mainstream. The only problem with this is that it may be written in the rules as a free decision, but then associations or clubs continue to prescribe the short version as the traditional one behind the doors. Peer pressure alone can make the decision less free. It won't be easy to start a competition in a long suit when you're the only one in your teens.
This is where the laws must state that the associations or clubs don't have a say in it. That how you solve that. If they are forcing this then the Clubs and associations can be liable for all mistreatment of their members. This would stop them from forcing the athletes. @@maltekoch1632

It’s funny bc when i watch adult (over 16) gymnastics practice which they sometimes show online….they are almost always practicing in legging or shorts.
No special clothing is required for practice... when it comes to professional, team sports, semi- professional, and/ or competitive events uniforms are required. Our kids were on swim team a few yrs back. During practices, they were their normal pool clothing, during competition, uniforms weren't an option. The entire team wore the same thing or you didn't swim
It was abt time. Good for these ladies! I wondered how long these female athletes had to go before wearing something decent while performing such exercises

There should be options for girls. I used to compete in triathlons. I liked the coverage of a trisuit (one piece top and shorts). I hated wearing a swimsuit in the pool. Thankfully, Speedo came out with a racing swimsuit with a shorts bottom. No more worries about wicked wedgies! I'm sure gymnasts deal with the same in those skimpy leotards. A shorts bottom option would be nice.
Yea it's definitely challenging for swimmers. My son was on a swim team a few yrs back..
At 1st the option for the boys was swim speedos, it was a strong protest from us moms. The other option was the swim trunks leggings to the knee...they wanted our girls to wear the skimpy swimsuits(meaning more skin exposed and high cut)but it wasn't gonna happen especially with minors. They ended up getting the regular suits that were below the cheeks and some girls wore swim trunk leggings if needed.
Didn’t a gymnast get in trouble for the butt part slip in a floor routine.
Within the last couple of years, USA gymnastics has started alowing women to wear shorts at meets which I have loved as a gymnast because all of us wear shorts to practice and now we can wear them at the meet too
Gym leos are fine. They allow for the freedom of movement that the athletes need. if you want to talk about "uniforms" take a look at womens beach volleyball.
beach volley ball girls are in the same boat a team was fined for wearing shorts at the same games. PINK paid their fine

If you have to glue it to your ass, it's probably a problem. Full body unitards don't hamper movement and didn't need to be glued to their butts.
I think they should wear a body suit where the lower body is covered with all the spreading of the legs

First of all, since when do predators target their victims simply by what they wear?? Child predators for one?? Number two, why do we always have to “dumb down” and “tone down” what we do and wear so that some men will feel more comfortable and supported when they try not to assault or attack women (or men) - it’s sad and laughable. The worse part? Women who partake in these attacks against their own… the narrative is getting stranger and more ridiculous. 🙄
There isn't much left of their outfits for the female athletics, swimmers, divers, gymnastics, track, beach volleyball, etc., to be more revealing. I am dreading at the Olympics or Nationals that a swim suit or gymnastic leotard ripping apart at the crotch because it's so slim with hardly any material to keep it together. I am surprised more parents don't protest about how revealing their athletic daughters are expected to be, when playing in sports.
Finally people are listening to our side..... Women need to have better and more appropiate outfits in many sports, PERIOD!!!!!

As a guy, knowing this is very true, as we consider most advertisements as well as porn… is predominately focused on women… but then even psychology proves that men are more sexually minded than women.

Same issue as the beach volleyball women had. It’s ridiculous that the uniform codes should be mentally uncomfortable for these young women. As long as they are comfortable who cares what they choose to wear.

Add ladies swimteam, beach volleyball, and some track and field to the list...Some of those young ladies wear the smallest and shortest uniforms possible... the uniforms designed for these events weren't designed to look decent( you can do these sports in regular workout clothing) they were designed to be appealing and to help you be more aerodynamic.

Yeah, they are sadly sexualized to all hell, especially as teens. I know it doesn't mean much coming from a guy but I've wondered in the past why they have to wear something that could potentially become displaced during a difficult maneuver or something that shows off their legs and body to such an extent that it distracts from the performance itself.
This is a sport where aesthetics of movement and body are judged beside the skill - not only technical merit, but also general impression. When it's between two perfect routines, naturally the visual appeal will decide. If somebody doesn't want to be judged on what impression their body makes during a routine, they shouldn't compete. Should costumes in any sport be transparent (as it has happened on occasions)? Absolutely not!
PS. Just ranking visual impressions isn't sexualisation - masturbation to these looks is, or when camera operators focus to show labia or penis definition against the suit, or when a female journalist bites her lip looking up and down a male athlete's body during an interview.
The “visual” picture (regarding having skin showing) has NOTHING to do with correctly judging a gymnastics (or any other sport) routine. Bodysuits cover skin and provide modesty while still allowing the judges to ensure the athletes are performing in correct position and executing moves well. ANY judge who rates a female gymnast wearing a revealing leotard over a female gymnast wearing a bodysuit, when both routines are of the same caliber should be FIRED! Sports are supposed to be about skill, not how “sexy” an athlete looks!!!

However, let me repeat, when skills are the same, looks will always win (oh, sometimes youth as well) - and it's not about sexy (well, to me it is 😉) but about seeing better muscle definition or nicer leg shape, or having certainty there are no unwanted fat flabs. And it doesn't have to be a conscious process, either. Try and tell me when gymnasts twirl around with that ribbon thing or the ball their skill isn't in making it look graceful and beautiful! Of course it is.
Put them all in thick, black, full bodysuits (go for the head cover as well, go full Muslim, why not) and see if the viewing numbers stay.
I won't say most, cause I don't know, but a substantial number of spectators watch women in sports not to see the limitations of human athleticism but to enjoy the beauty of the female body in motion.
BTW, sickos on team personnel will abuse their stations and female athletes regardless of the competitors' costumes.

If the rules apply to all, stupid or not…it can’t be unfair. What’s unfair is taking away Pistol Pete’s record and handing it to a girl that couldn’t average 8 points a game playing against the same competition Pete played against with no 3 point shot and a larger diameter ball which makes it much more difficult to hit that hoop. Put her in the NBA and see how well she does. Screw that, just put her against a good boys high-school team and see if she can score her average. I think not. Two records. Men’s and women’s…it’s only fair.

Umm, I’m sorry but I’d rather wear form fitting spandex which completely covers my butt and crotch, then end up with a leotard riding up my ass crack or revealing some of my hooha when doing splits! It’s supposed to be gymnastics, not a peep show or strip club. No athlete should have to retire bc they don’t want to wear an unnecessarily revealing uniform! You don’t have to show skin to execute a skill correctly, or for a judge to see that you are moving your body correctly
