I have a question about introducing new salvinia (and other floaters) to an established tank. I once bought water hyacinth and duckweed from a local seller and put it in quarantine. Glad I did because there were SO MANY planaria! How do I disinfect my floating plants without killing them? I’ve tried bleach and hydrogen peroxide on new plants (not just floaters), each with mixed results. Currently testing alum which I’ve heard is effective without harming the plants. Any advice on this is welcome!
I’ve always heard how salvina minima doesn’t like water flow or movement but I have 3 aquarium with hob filters and a stock tank with sponge filters and a lot of movement full of them and they’re somehow growing rapidly. Could there be a reason why mine are thriving? Very informative videos 👍🏽
duckweeds, frogbits, mini water lettuce, and red roots all died on me because of rookie mistakes. hopefully, the salvinias i'm going to purchase would be more sturdy for me.
@@phantomguy7374 the water flow was strong around the aquarium. When l figured out how to buffer the surface motion my internal canister filter produced, my salvinias finally exploded. Nowadays I have to keep an eye their exponential growth.
dude... my salvinia and lettuce was struggling to stay alive in my main tank but i saw that my two betta tanks were amazing, those had low water movement becausa of the bettas and the main was on FULL speed with backpack filter, this video saved me
This seems like the perfect plant for an axlotl tank because of the low flow needs of the plant and also it would block out a lot of the light. But I'm wondering if the fertilizers needed for the plant would mess up the ph needs of the axlotl. Any thoughts??
I had so much that I have to grab a bunch and throw it in the trash even though I have those bio cubes fish tank with fast current but I think is the lights I have
Crap i just ordered salvinia minama and frogbit. My light is integrated with the hood on the fluval flex. Ordered seachem flourish as well. Crap now im mad for spending the money and cant use it...thanks for ruining my day...lol
Thanks for the video. I’m glad you also mentioned water Lettuce. I’ve wanted to bring it indoors after summer pond season. Any more tips would be appreciated.
Subscribed ! Im in the midst of transforming my house.. Huge fan of plants and building Terra/Viv/Paludariums, so i thought it was time to transform it all into the jungle you have.. im rather jelous of you mate haha. Love the channel ☺ Edit: while watching i got a question popping up.. I have Salvinia in my Paludarium and been in doubt of putting in duckweed.. Does duckweed grow so fast it will push salvinia out and die? Thanks ✌
My new project eh?! lol so i just moved to east texas, and just got going a 1485 gallon swimming pool turned pond for a massive mutt guppy pond! super stoked. today our frogbit, hornwort, and guppy grass showed up, and they came with a hitch hiker, which was Water Spangles! im excited as were still building up on plants. lol so far we have 21 guppies in there, but already seeing some fry. im excited to see how many guppies will breed in a 1500g pond over a summer! hahaha gonna pick out the lookers in october and breed them indoors. needless to say i ended up heree over the water spangles lol
i’ve been subscribed to you for a few years now I just kind of fell into water spangles I ordered frog bit and water spangles came as a mystery plant I love it because it looks like cats tongue That’s another one of the plants I wanted before I got water spangles and I might still get it eventually💯🌱🐠💙🔥
I have duck weed in my tank with a hang on the back filter and it does great. Probably in part due to the val reaching to the top of the tank kind of holds it in place.
Just finished my 43 Gallon got my live plants bedded in have them on a red led and blue led throughout the day and 2 Electric blue acara and some Large Tetras
I have a cat (Jinx) who loves my aquariums and houseplants. An idea would be plants that are safe around our feline aquarium enthusiasts. Would love a video like that. Trying salvinia for the first time. Love the look of it and so far it’s growing really well. Thanks for the tips❤
Thenutritional value? And can you feed it to birds, since there will be an excess quickly! I'd suggest harvesting weekly, drying and use as a dry food powder...
I have a 1.3 gallon tank for a Veda, I was thinking about this plant because it is low maintenance and from what you said it just needs proper lighting and fertilizer, but do you think the size of the tank is too small?
so this is not a cichlids channel anymore its a boring plant show, i think its time to move on and unsubscribe i came hear years ago for the fish not for a gay little flower show boring

I literally went kayaking and found this plant in my scopper holes and decided to take some home with me for my planted tank.. it's doing great!
@Jim Bianco haha you're weird coming at me like that
Do you use a dehumidifier..? With all the tanks how do you handle moisture

I'm definitely judging you for "that thing on the floor" 😂 cute cats!
Nice plants
Love the content man but missing the central and South American cichlids videos!
Looks very messy.

Which mistake you did?😅

@@RampartPh same incident even I face same problem of exponential growth 📈
Your shirt you sell is so soft lol 😂 I wore it the other day in a video too. I love this plant BTW

But how do you get RID of it if you have too much!? Friends have it in overgrowth in their pond-it’s ridiculous!
My salvinia has some white mold / white stuff on it not sure why

Lower your water level and you will be fine with that light

Dude, I can't watch your videos. The way you constantly sweep the room with the camera gives me motion sickness.
Womp womp thug it out fr💀

Can they live without
Heater
Filter
Any kind of substrate
Fish
Or artificial light?

If you have an Amazon affiliate link the shop lights you’d suggest would probably sell, I love the plants you have.
What's your take on using gravel and sand from the river as a substrate?
ok i have low light and i need a floating plant ... what should i get ?
Did we just become best friends?
Thenutritional value? And can you feed it to birds, since there will be an excess quickly! I'd suggest harvesting weekly, drying and use as a dry food powder...
I couldn't find information on nutrition but my ducks seem to love eating it.
I have been thinking about putting it in a shrimp tank
Does all fish fits this floating plant?
this stuff is in all the lakes here in east Texas.
What’s that filter?
When the video opened with a walk through the fish room I exclaimed "DAYUM" out loud to myself
Yeahhhhhh boi
💚💚

Veda = Betta 🙂
The size of the tank is too small for anything really. Far too small for a betta fish.
@@muffins185 about a year late and that “tank” was trashed a while ago, only a 29 gallon and 10 gallon today
Awesome video bro
Thanks man!
Are you aware of the lacy act that is going to ban aquarium fish being shipped anywhere in the states or internationally to the states
Wow really
Yes going to ruin the pet industry
If that happens blame the irresponsible pet owners who keep releasing their shit into our waterways and destroying ecosystems.
Oh my gosh! Thank you so much! I have failed with floating plants lately and you just explained why! I greatly appreciate it!!!
How to clean this mess
