Idk about you guys but I place my unwanted duckweed in my potted house plants and once it dries and dies it turn into like a mulch. I’m in zone 10b where it’s always warm so the aquatic plants won’t ever survive outside of water
Got some frogbit and salvinia coming next week. Should i remove my phosguard and do a big water change b4 they get here? I bought seachem flourish in preparation of them coming, but now im hearing it doesnt have posphorous or nitrate. My nitrate is between 5 and 10 and nitrite zero. Amonia is 0.25 from my tap watet. Ive got some glowlight danios coming and dont want ANY amonia, so thats why im getting the plants...any help would be appreciated...from anyone. Ive never had live plants at all before
I think you're worrying too much. I would remove any chemical filtration and use a simple all-in-one fertilizer to provide the nutrients they need. You got this!
I hate duckweed too. I sit for hours and pick duckweed out of java moss whenever i pick it up. Still spend over an hour picking it Out of my 9 tanks every month or so
I hate duck weed. 😂😆 When I first got into aquariums. It was cool to have floating plants. But, later I discovered it became very annoying. Managing it came to be an pain if I did not keep on top of it. It bugged me to throw it out. I hated more posting it on social media to give away. Waiting for people to show up took a lot of time. However, I have met some cool hobbyist by giving it a way. One person traded me some fish and duck weed for a bucket full of java moss. I came out ahead on that trade.
@@BobMossNanoTanks I know what you are saying about the roots, I have water lettuce. They reach to the bottom of the tank. But, great in removing nitrates.
I hate duckweed! But for real I want to buy water spangles/salvinia! I'm trying to find a place that sells them online other than Amazon and etsy bc idk how to feel about buying plants on those sites.
Thank you :) Do you mind explaining a bit what you mean by over-edited? I do like to take people's criticism into account to make my vids more enjoyable for everyone.
Hate is to nice of a word for duckweed. That crap can die and dry out on the lid, get wet, regenerate and start again. After a nuclear winter duckweed, twinkies and cockroaches will be all that survive.
This video brought tears to my eyes, how dare you show off your "green" leaves on your mature amazon frogbit? 🥲 I haven't seen one of those in my tanks for months 🥺
Those spongebob clips were pretty funny. 😂
Thank you. I have to start bringing them back in my newer content haha
Good info looking forward to the next plant care video.
Thank you! Moss and susswassertang is next!
Hey Bob, great video man. Very informative. My light sits directly on top of the water. Is it okay like that or should I raise it for floating plants?
You might burn some types like water lettuce and frogbjt from the light being to close. That's the only thing I would worry about.
@@BobMossNanoTanks Okay thanks for all the helpful advise man. Love your videos!
@@FG-hw5ep thank you so much!
Looks like you might have some BBA on the underside of some of the Frogbit
There is a bunch of java moss bits stuck in them, I don't think it's BBA.

Not a bad idea at all. I tend to save them for shrimp food.
such a funny intro love it!!!
Thank you! This is around the time I really started having fun with the intros haha

@@BobMossNanoTanks youre right about over thinking this...id better chill or im gonna need another anxiety pill
what type of bulb you recommend?
I use T6 LEDS with no issue, slightly less power consuming than T4's but they are a little dimmer.
@@BobMossNanoTanks i have a color max 24inch inch now i guess i need a full spectrum daylight bulb instead?
IHDW!! Been trying to get rid of it for over a year in one tank alone 🤣
More flow? Toss a HOB on there and watch it crumble haha
I love floating plants (except DUCKWEED!)
Close enough! Welcome to the club ;) haha

I have done everything in my power to avoid any of that ending up in my tank haha.

I have become partial to salvinia. Big enough that it's easy to remove and the roots aren't a mile long!
@@BobMossNanoTanks I know what you are saying about the roots, I have water lettuce. They reach to the bottom of the tank. But, great in removing nitrates.
@@SteveHinrichs frogbit was a mistake. now i just have it in the tanks i don't care about as much lol

Salvinia is my favourite right now. I might try watter lettuce soon, though.
I would try to find a hobbyist online looking to get rid of stuff tbh.
over-edited but otherwise very informative. Good job sir

I've avoided it myself, as well haha. Thank you and welcome to the club!
I hate Duck Weed, but I love my Frogbit.
I somehow got duckweed this last month. My feelings are mixed right now haha.
@@BobMossNanoTanks I hear it makes good shrimp food.
@@arcticwinds6125 It's has the most nutrient content out of most of our floating plants actually. That's why I'm keeping it around haha.

I kind of want to try freezing duckweed and then putting it in some water and showing it coming back to life haha. Stuff is a pain.
I hate duckweed… but I don’t I think it’s cute.
What do you mean?
You can tell that the people who made this vid isnt that into plants
Why do you say that?

it's few and far between, trust me. I'm just picky with the footage and pictures I use so you don't see it haha
