Thanku for creating amazing content for accountants❤ I must say apart from bookish knowledge if someone wants to learn and grow in their accounting career this is the right place!
You really do a great job. I would like to add from my point of view that Xlookup replacing index match. As you know, old version of office, there is no Xlookup. I am following you.. keep going 💪 good job 👏
Thank you for making good and informative clips. It's easy to understand. I've been following it since the first clip I watched. It's great. Thank you.
As bookkeepers we use those formulas too on a daily basis. The only one I would change from the list is sumif and replace it with sumifs which allows you to sum based on one or multiple criteria
Great video Bill! Started dabbling more with excel over the last year, working on a few different excel certifications right now, but excited for the day where I feel more comfortable with it and start using it more. So many great features and excited to become a pro in it over the next few years as I stay in the finance/accounting world early next year!
Great content as always. I have an accounting career question though: I read your comment on another one of your videos that you usually like to move around jobs every five years. I like this idea because every accounting manager job in any accounting specialty (accounts payable, accounts receivable, audit, and tax) all seem to require at least (at bare minimum) 5 years in the specialty for the manager job to which one is applying. I am 40 with a Master's Degree in Accounting because I started late and just got my first accounting job in Accounts Receivable. I hope to get 5 years experience in A/R and then go on to 5 years in A/P before hopefully doing 5 years of staff accounting. But what accounting specialties do you recommend after that? Will I be equipped to be an accounting supervisor or manager by that time? I will be only 55 years old after 5 years in each of the 3 accounting specialties that I just mentioned. I hope to never retire as I enjoy working in general (as I have a very solid work ethic). So, what are your recommendations? Thanks for any help that you can provide. (By the way, I used to live where you live: meaning in Bergen County, NJ. Great place).
OMG!! Thank you very much for explaining it so clearly! 🥰 I was wondering why everyone said XLookup is better than VLookup : now I get it! Yes XlookUp is wonderful. 👍🏾 Also I did know about "end of the month". Thx However personnaly I also use a lot of TEXTE formulas : Concat ; TextAfter; TextBefore ; right; left; etc. If I may suggest to do an 2nd video which include more formula for no-number data analysis. Because nowdays software know how to analyze number as well, if not sometime better than us. But it still need to be improved little bit for no-number analysis. Thus I think in the future, in order to make the difference, accountants will have to analyze more no-number data. At least that's what I think, but I might guess it wrong.
Hi Bill, thank you for all of the helpful videos! I was wondering if you can advise if you feel someone who has an MBA could transition into an accounting role without a bachelors in Accounting? I have nearly 4 years of previous experience as a manager at a medical clinic in a non-profit facility where I completed a lot of accounting type responsibilities (reviewing contracts for approval of A/P invoices, analyzing contracts and creating new contracts that would save the non-profit money, etc) but I am currently in a higher education role with student facing customer service and non-financial documentation review. Should I work on a certification in quickbooks or something else to prepare me for interviewing for an entry level accounting job? Should I look at obtaining a masters degree in accounting or would my MBA help? I did take accounting and finance courses in my MBA. Thank you for any advice you have! 😊
Hey Joyful, master's in accounting is an overkill since you have an MBA. I would take a couple of online courses on practical accounting in the workplace. check out my controller academy where it's designed exactly for this purpose (showing how accounting is practiced in an actual company)
What if while using the xlookup if there is a person’s name multiple times, the formula only takes the count for the first name. Is there any way to fix this while using the xlookup?
Hi bill, I have a bachelor degree in accounting and been working in AR for almost a year now. If my goal is to become CPA and one day controller should I consider switching jobs/positions to more accounting role? Like staff accountant
I myself use power query and power pivot in my work. Sometimes I use pivot table to create a visual and dynamic presentation to the Financials. It depends on many factors, and as Bill said on the role as well. I am accounting manager.
I can do lots of crazy things with excel... how I went 8 years without knowing about xlookup is beyond me... always had to make new tables to refer to. thanks
Hi Bill. I saw your courses. I'm from India. I want to discuss regarding the courses. Its very diffcult indian accountants to access the course. Please let me know how to contact you?
Very helpful video! I am preparing for my Junior Financial Controller interview and Your videos help to refresh my Excel knowledge.
Best of luck!

The XLOOKUP portion of the video was so nice & easy- thank you! 🤓

Love to see more videos like this
Thank you Sir.
Loved the video! Are there any other formulas that could be used when reconciling balance sheet accounts? This was super helpful.

I followed your formula exacting and get the #Name? error mesage. What can I do to correct? Thanks
Very nice!
We can use find function so what is point on xlookup 😅?
What if while using the xlookup if there is a person’s name multiple times, the formula only takes the count for the first name. Is there any way to fix this while using the xlookup?
Do you still have office hours on Patreabout
Hello is a cpa valuable to get if you are in a developing country which has a lot of American companies and big 4
You are awesome
Hi Bill. Are you giving any personal classes (I mean via Zoom, Teams, etc.)?
How change the w.sheet in pdf and reverse
I wish the controller I worked under was nearly as organized as this. The first close I had I was surprised to learn there was no checklists
Go teach him/her :)
Those formula were do u get them
Hi bill, I have a bachelor degree in accounting and been working in AR for almost a year now. If my goal is to become CPA and one day controller should I consider switching jobs/positions to more accounting role? Like staff accountant
Yes, but don't make your job hops too short. I like to see 1 or 1.5 years in a role at minimum
Do accountants make use of power query a lot as well?
Depends on the role, but not as much as you might think
I myself use power query and power pivot in my work. Sometimes I use pivot table to create a visual and dynamic presentation to the Financials. It depends on many factors, and as Bill said on the role as well. I am accounting manager.
How common, if at all, is paid overtime in industry for someone in a assistant/controller position?
I’ve never seen one
TQ!
Can you add the subtitles for your each video? Thank you so much!
I will try!
@@TheFinancialController Cheers mate!
Bill, Do you offer mentoring/coaching for new accountants?
I teach via the Controller Academy. There is a link in the video description
Why the actual have I been using index and match and I didn't know xlookup exsisted :(
❤ Smartcountant ❤
But the Xlookup function only available in latest excel versiona
The alternative is index match. Check my video on that one
My end of month formula isn't giving me months in Words. What can I do?
simply right-click on the cell, click 'Format cell", choose "Date" and find the date format you like to appear!
I didn't see any If functions in this video. I assume it's not as popular as the rest.
Where did you go to school? If you don't mind me asking
City university of New York
@@TheFinancialController perhaps I should transfer there to get my bachelor's... you are so knowledgeable... do they have dorms or??
@@petertenay1785 the knowledge is from work not school really
@@TheFinancialController oh, thank you for that.
How does one get good in Excel? Right now I'm just teaching myself how to use it with youtube.
Tommy leep is one rich guy,
I don't have that format
✍️
Too fast on the sumif function Bill
Still dont get how to use eomonth lol
I am from India can i get a job if you have a accounting firm.
I am accounts executive where I handle Canadian businesses. I preparr financial statements and end to end accounting.
If you can provide me an opportunity to work form home that will be a great opportunity.
Flashing the mouse pointer all over the place is very irritating.
I can do lots of crazy things with excel... how I went 8 years without knowing about xlookup is beyond me... always had to make new tables to refer to. thanks
Xlookup is fairly new anyways!
