    One other measure of success I feel in AP is identifying and successfully obtaining any discounts for timely payments. Another interesting function... some roles may have to be aware of contract terms and monitor, track and accrue for rebates due back to the company.

    As I am watching this video right now while prepping for my interview for today it gives me much confidence in myself. I feel like these are simple questions for me through my accounting experience. Thank you.
    Also, I wanted to note how your videos are so clear and short. The way you explain everything is so easy and displaying the list on your screen of the questions and answers in summary is so easy to follow along I don't even have to pause the video. I feel like you would make a very good professor in college.

    Bill I love your videos and am subscribed as you consistently put out great content! I had a question - I have six years of AR and AP experience and recently passed all four CPA exams. I have not held a title as a staff accountant yet all of my titles were AP/AR specialist. For my next job, should I apply to Staff Acct roles or aim a little higher since I will have my CPA and am not fresh out of college? Also, feel free to not reply as I know it’s not your job to give career advice but if you do thank you so much and regardless will keep watching your content!

    I will have to disagree on the public vs private part, many businesses especially SMEs use public accountants (practices) to run period-end journal entries and compile the financial statements. Bookeeping is likely to be private / in-house except in very small owner-managed companies, but anything past trial balance is likely to be handled externally for most private limited companies. That's why we say *accountancy practice* not just tax practice or audit practice or consultancy firm.

    Hi Bill, I'm looking for a full time accounting job but I have not been working full time for more than 1 year after graduating (because my family had some problems). Do you think that gap will affect my job opportunity ? Do recruiters care about that and if they wanna know the reason for that gap then is it ok to just mention family issues in general because I find it uncomfortable to go into detail.

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  3 года назад +3

    I graduated December 2020 with my bachelors in accounting. I am currently working as an accounting clerk (basically working as back up for AP/AR and assist with special projects for my boss (Controller). I work at a law firm. Am I putting myself short by not looking for a staff accountant position? This is my first job in the accounting field. They are paying me $17/hr. However I have another opportunity to be paid $19/hr for an abstract company doing somewhat the same thing but with some additional duties. I would like to start making more in the $24+ /hr range. What should I do?
