After he maliciously beat it to death with a crowbar. He said he got space herpies. Me thinking he was trying to be funny, thout he just had the husk infection. Then his controls got inverted and he started throwing up. So I checked him out and he legit had space herpies lol. Soon after we all went insane from a observer and died to a nuclear meltdown after a thalamus attacked us. The running joke is he's got space herpies. Probably the best intro I could give a newbie for the game lol.
This game combined with all your friends makes me cry from laughter. Please do more of this game Jay! Keep up the great content too!
That's fucking horrifying, imagine that, you're on a submarine with some friends going to down I'm the depths of an unexplored planet and you get hit with something that sends you flying, then all you hear in the dark is your radio crackling and one of your shipmates is just screaming through all the static and saying "IT'S BIG!!!" And then silence.

Making it so you almost can't hear or really understand each other. Nice touch, and attention to detail. "Maybe his radio crapped out on him?" If you remember the scene from this movie, Kudos.

At 6:15 I don't think I can put into words how gut-bustingly funny is the image of an anime girl in a nurse's uniform sitting in a submarine bar with a submachine gun across her lap while screams and chaos echo over the radio and the room slowly fills with water, and calmly saying to the girl next to her "All I know is the problems outside that door are not our problems."

Me and my friends played this last night with lots of mods!
Our experience was fairly similar since we got spawn camped essentially and had to turn back to base empty handed because we ran outta welding fuel and had very few tools because someone kept SELLING THE FUCKING THINGS.

Barotrauma has been on my watch list for a while, but my friends are assholes and never play games with me, and this game seems like friends are a requirement, so I haven't taken the plunge.
Then you showed me it has a big tiddy anime waifu mod.
You, sir, have just earned these developers a sale.
theres quite alot of mods that can make AI campigns who are about as good as friends.
because while they are slow there are unlikely to sabotage for the MEME which is nearly irrestible to any friend group.
Base bots are fine tbf. I don't have any friends and love playing with the bots. My only problem with them is that they don't have fear, so when something tries to kill them all, *THEY ALL GO FIST FIGHT IT LIKE CHAMPS*

Also some XCOM Terror From the Deep mod enemies would work SO WELL in this game.
maybe a future dlc that focuses on the aliens adding some "remant" alien faction perhaps even the chance of a boss encounter agasint a alien "sub" equivalent.

The screams happen a lot with my group mainly because we act like children and fight over the dumbest things. Sometimes I think my friends are the eldritch horrors that await outside.

i remember the last game i had the cap asked "what is that blip on the radar" and once i touched the periscope it put a window in engineering(i am medic) and i hear incoherent screaming from the back of the ship, safe to say we used in total of 3k in medical supplies as i kept everyone alive while wielding a shotgun and opium, that day i became the designated medic of the group cause i grew a heart of pure steel
I feel like the waifus improve the experience in some way, although perhaps that's just the sea/space madness kicking in.
Jay, I just want you to know I’m going to use as many lines from this for the horror scenes in my novel for the horror moments when my mc begins voyaging in a underwater world

God Barotrauma is so endlessly replayable... I really hope the developers make a version set on space stations or shuttles one day with alien monsters
I want a first person one. would be insane and legitimately scary.
That's just space station 13. Which this game is based off of. Ok but seriously. Yes I want a space version of this to. The closest thing we have is ftl and it just doesn't scratch the itch. Though it is also a really good game. As the other person said. A first person version (of either really) would also be great. But immensely more terrifying. ... The abyss monsters in VR while you're out of the sub would be another level of terrifying. Subnautica wouldn't even compare to that in terms of horror.
Space Station 14 has some servers dedicated to something like this.

When I played, I was just chilling in the sub, headwind towards an outpost. Something punctured the hull, and we dropped like a rock… ONTO LAVA GEYSERS. Then, an alien worm swam up to our ship and laid its eggs in our ballast, which grew into a fleshy mass which started to take over the engine room. This is all while we were getting melted my lava and desperately trying to drain the ship.
10/10 would die horrible again

That wasn't them laying eggs in your ballast, that was ballast flora growing in your ballast. From the sounds of it, the damn infestation was deeply set in already by the time you guys noticed it

Now I'll fully admit to being a weeb. And unironically play with anime mods. But barotrauma is a case where anime has ACTUALLY ruined the game. And not in the way it usually is just cause people don't like anime. See if you want to join a server you have to have all mods they have active. And unfortunately the various anime skin mods count.
They aren't just cosmetic. Most people understandably don't want to anime their game. So they're forced to either play solo. Get friends. Or just download the anime mod and deal with the cringe.
Making matters worse. There's a lot of them so you have to get the specific one for whatever server you join. And even worse than that. The author of the most widely used one recently made an update to the mod that added a bunch of racist stuff to it. Including Triple K uniforms and ww2 german symbolisim. (Im trying not to get this comment removed by a youtube bot)
So while normally I take the stance of. It's not harming your experience you don't have to download it. Just ignore it and let weebs be weebs! ... I ... can't do that with this game because it actually locks people out of certain servers. And that's not cool.
I remember my first barotrauma game, no clue what I was doing and ended up fighting a Charybdis with nothing more than a stun stick and a vile of nitroglycerin as a captain, good times
Ignis Company was exploring the Vast Ocean of Europa and found many beast that a mere man would tremble in his boots but not the Ignis Company (*Side Note* You probably did this when and update allows hammer heads to enter the ship now originally they couldn't now they can :) Also dear god the amount of mods been playing barotrauma for 2 years now built hundreds of subs killed thousands of creatures but never knew there was a anime character mod)
