I saw today that Edge hade imported all data from Chrome without my premission -and I want the cookies different on both browsers or otherwise i get the same videos on youutbe -I guess Micro re..soft never learns
Use Chrome, but like having 2 browsers installed in case you get a bug in the one you are using and have to uninstall, redownload & reinstalled, which has happened.
6:14 "It's all removed from here as well" (Still there underneath maps "Microsoft Edge" and "Microsoft Edge Updater" right underneath that) How do you ACTUALLY remove it?
Ok so tip for people who also dont see edge in the uninstaller application: Open hunter mode and look on your screen for a little target thing that came up (It was near the top right for me) and then open edge then move the target (hold click) and move it on Edge then simply use the target to uninstall edge.
Brilliant! I tried using Revo as per this video, but Microsoft edge did not appear at all in the list of Apps. Thank you so much for sparing me the typing nightmare of using the “command prompt” method - the “hunter” method worked wonderfully. As a septuagenarian “computer dinosaur” I found it easy to use
Thank you so much! I tried multiple ways to get rid of Edge, and until I saw your comment, I thought that not even Revo could uninstall it. Thanks! I feel like I had to perform an exorcism on my pc. Good riddance Edge.
Thank you so much for this video. I have despised Edge with a passion and was sick and tired of it reappearing every time I thought I had got rid of it. Now it has gone for good - joy at last😃
Thanks BRIAN for the video! Had to delete/remove/uninstall Edge because it imports data and bookmarks from other browsers without permission, leaving user accounts open on edge without user knowledge. Edge acts like a virus, this can lead to a major security flaw if you don't know that Edge has you signed in to various website WITHOUT permission. I'll NEVER use it again because this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. It's a major security flaw, not a "feature".
Hi, if you look closely at 6:14 in the video, there are still 2 Microsoft Edge icons, they are not deleted as you say in the video. They are easy to miss, I understand, but still the video should be updated to show how they can be removed. Thank you! :)
Hello Britec09. I was trying to delete Edge for hours and hours with no luck. than I came across you clip and done it in 5 minutes. Thank you so much. Cheers Oz
I have finally cracked it 😁😁. I followed all the steps here and it still kept reinstalling. Tried a couple of things with regedit but the one that solved it was renaming the microosoft edge update file in X86 menu. Just thought I'd let you know in case others were having the same problem with edge. Took over 3 months to solve issue. I wish I knew the people responsible so I could screw them up for 3 months.
I failed to do an advanced removal search and had remaining items in the registry. I believe it will return. The only improvement I would add is to show what to do in the regedit to disable the remaining items instead of just adding that line that may or may not work. Worst comes to worst is that I save the video and repeat the process again. Still you have a great channel and I am subscribing. Microsoft just gets more and more invasive.
Thank you for this tutorial. I tried running the script 4 times with no luck. Got Revo uninstaller and rid the machine of Edge and other apps that I will never use. Followed task scheduler settings and regedit instructions and all is fine. Much appreciated. I also use Wise and Ccleaner to dispose of any leftover registry junk as well. There were many.
I used the script from your other video, so can I install this software and remove Edge that is left over? Do I need to manually install Edge, and then use this program.
Thanks, Brian, for your great instructions on the removal of edge. I have been using Revo Uninstaller for a couple of years and find it very good, in this case I followed your directions and ran Revo’ which looked like it got most of the junk removed, but as you outlined, it pays to do the follow-up. I went into GP Edit and found one trace, “Allow MS Edge to Pre-launch-----” and I was able to disable this per your instructions. In the registry I found the folder EdgeUpdate already there with a myriad of sub listings, 2 of which gave the file & Path to where Edge update is located, I just deleted these 2 lines, but I added your “do not update to------” as an extra key. I then went and looked in Program Files (x86) and found the Edge folder and deleted the complete contents that even “Revo” missed. So now I am completely free from the Edge! By the way I have been using Fire Fox Mozilla as my main browser but have Chrome & Brave as my backup browsers. PS, “Revo” dos not catch all software installed, it did not detect my HP printer software at all, I needed to reinstall. I managed to remove this with EMCO Unlock IT, to unload the loaded programs to be able to delete them, another good freeware.
Thank you so much for this. I have tried to get rid of edge from its beginning. My windows SSD is so full of junk I never use I can no longer update at all. You have allowed me to clear some space so now I am trying my updates again. I will let you know how it goes. One more question - Can I use this same app and method to uninstall other windows features I will never use i.e. Cortana and using my phone from my computer. And can I get rid of everything pushing AI on me. I have my own intelligence and don't need the artificial kind
I use Revo Uninstaller Pro to deeply and permanently uninstall any software, including the windows Apps (bloatware), alongside with Glary Utilities Pro + Malwarebytes (to deeply clean, fix and delete any remaning system registry). Run sfc /scannow after this process and my machine runs like real silk. I do this method twice a month, since a few years. Having an OS for workstations I turn it into a debloated LTSC with the powerful features of Workstations. Try it out. Thanks Brian, for another great video. As usual.
Thank you so much Britec! You don't know how much you've helped me. I would use Edge as a secondary browser (Chrome master race) and I would mindlessly surf the internet since I uninstalled the Incognito option for Chrome. Now since I can't use Chrome Incognito, nor can I use Edge (Regular or Incognito) I believe I will have a better relationship with the internet, and technology and close down the rest of my tabs lol. Thanks. I really hate the way Microsoft force this on you. I can't stand the censorship in Microsoft Edge. This worked a treat 24/1/.23. Lost a day trying to figure out how to get rid of it. 😎
Thank you! It's not so much that I hate the browser as I hate having it shoved down my throat. It's my computer. It shouldn't be so difficult to get rid of a program you don't want. I have warmed to some of its functionality, but I refuse to have it on my system out of spite.
Hey Britec, since I've uninstall Edge following this video back in october I've been having problems with Windows Update where it always shows cumulative updates that fail to install. After some deep researching I noticed that all these problems with WU are due to the lack of Edge... Any ideas?
Aha, I just checked the registry and Edge had been sneaked back on, but it is off as far as getting installed with Chromium. I just deleted it once again. I"ll just have to keep checking. This has been working, but they never stop trying to get it back. You taught me how to do this, but I could use a refresher course.
After all I`ve done according to your instructions, Edge is still among my settings/apps and in the task manager. No option to remove them from there. Any advice?
Pretty sure I got all the steps correct except an "icon-less" Edge line still shows up in the start menu (nothing happens when I click it though), Edge still shows up as a 32kb sized app in the settings menu along with Edge Update and WebView2 Runtime. Did I miss something?
Hi, it (the edge emblem) didn't appeared amongst the programs list in Revo but somehow I managed to use the Hunter Mode and able to uninstall it finally. So your video somehow helped with my case... But information after the uninstallation part, is awesome!!! So, Thanks a lot sir!
bloody hell mate...you're a absolute gift to the world. I was about ready to throw my laptop out the window. Thanks heaps for the great vid, from myself and my still in one piece laptop :)
Yo! Found your video and I do hope that it removes it completely to never come back. I dispised Internet Explorer and I loath Microsoft Edge. In all honestly, Internet Explorer is a minor inconvenience to me as opposed to the absolute menace that is Microsoft Edge. (This is my own opinion people and if you don't like it, then do you.) Again I hope it never returns again and I wish you, everyone you love, and everyone that sees this, a good day and I also would like to wish all of you a good year!
That Microsoft edge is a pain in the arse i thought i had a virus the thing was bombarding my pc with edge pages even just clicking the mouse page after page was popping up malwarebites was not detecting any virus so there are many solutions to get rid of it and this is the only one that worked for me delete it totally cheers
Hi Brian, thanks for this excellent video and I have completed this process on my Win10 PC and got rid of Edge - however it has recently udated Win10 during my non usage time and heyho bloomin Edge is back on the system . . Yet again I followed your video to the letter got rid of everything and fingers crossed the bloomin thing will not reinstall at the next Windows update . .
I've been using Revo-Uninstaller for awhile now and its great at removing every little bit of a program you don't want and also removes Programs, Extensions and all registry bits & pieces as well
I'm confused! When checking the App Section to see if there is anything left from Edge you say there is nothing left. Yet if you freeze the video around the 6:10 mark you can see a remnant leftover> Microsoft Edge 48.0 KB, and also Microsoft Edge Update is listed below that, but without a file size listed. Am I missing something here in the directions on the video? Thank You CB11
Very nice vid great explanation I think I have mine figured out! I Just use google chrome (for for years, it's quick, simple, no nonsense) I was tired of "edge" barging in would when I would try to load a page even though chrome was my default browser.... I liked and Thanks again!
You helped me uninstall Edge once before and it worked fir awhile, but the bugger has come back although I think I've done enough in the Registry that is isn't really a bother and it is not on my task bar - at this point. But I know they will try to sneak that blue worm back when they get a chance. So, how do I find this video at some later point when it sneaks back.
Brian, does uninstalling Edge lower the CPU utilization and/or RAM usage? This may be helpful for those having a bare minimum requirements PC (for Win11).
I have noticed a definite slowdown when Windows 11 is installed on older hardware. One of my laptops, a seven year old Dell Latitude E6340 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz.(Originally OEM Windows 7 Pro) is a point in case. I managed to bypass the TPM 2 requirement and upgraded from Win10 Pro about two years ago. To further increase performance, install a SSD drive over and above the OEM specs above.
Initially I thought it wasn't going to work. It didn't find it in the list of files. So I tried the 'hunter' mode. Just opened edge and dropped the crosshairs on it. Bam. Removed it, found and then was able to delete the clutter it leaves behind. I am so impressed with this program I am going to buy the pro version. You often see these things and they just do not work properly. This really nailed it. Thank you.
Edge not showing in Revo Uninstaller 2.4.4 on my win 10 64 bit pc. uninstalled Revo & found the same version 2.3.9 shown here, Edge was in the list then, but doing everything up to 6:15 (pause there) you have edge, as do I, still in the list........
I installed Edge on my Dad's computer, which had Windows Edge upgraded from IE, but I then installed my own version of Edge off the website. Since I have duplicates, I might try both methods to remove the former version.
I started Edge for the first time in a long time and upon being bombarded with ads, immediately closed it. And there was a strange floating Bing search bar thing left on my desktop. I checked task manager and Edge left 9 processes running after it was "closed" - even after I had long ago supposedly disabled its background processes. It is pernicious octopus bloat/ ad ware.
Followed this all the way. It uninstalled it but it was reinstalled on my system on 27/1/23. I did not reinstall it. I do not want it reinstalled but it did reinstall. Revo software did uninstall it again. I REALLY HATE THIS. Surely this is wrong and Microsoft shoulkd not be allowed to do this.
If you want to try another method, go to ‘Windows (C:)’, ‘Program Files (x86)’ and find the folder called ‘Microsoft’. Delete everything in it (you'll find all the MS Edge stuff in there) and then delete the folder itself. Empty your recycle bin and restart your computer. This method has kept my PC free of Edge for seven months now (as of end of July 2023) and the PC still works perfectly. Before this, Edge would reinstall itself every few days and I could only get rid of it temporarily with the "IObit Uninstaller" free software. I'm a retired plumber, not a PC expert, but I hope this helps you.
@@Sundar... Hi, it did come back in late 2023 as MS managed to reinstate their (x86) folder. I just deleted the lot again and it's been gone for several weeks. This doesn't seem to affect the other system updates.
I know this video is a year old. I went through all the steps and successfully removed Edge, but I can not remove the entry in the Apps list or the all apps menu. Is there an update to this video?
Hi. I have a problem. I removed the Microsoft Edge Browser from Windows 10 and the facebook messenger application no longer works. Do you have any idea what I could do? Thank you
Hi, I have just done thins in windows10 , were there any extra steps that are needed on 10 ? I ask because just noticed that you are use windows11 Also , at 6mins 17sec , the edge updater was still there on the vid . and on mine the updater and MSE is there and it says 11.3mb , though it has been uninstalled . Is there a way of getting rid of the search bar in the task bar on windows 10?
I followed this STEP BY STEP to the T 100% - 1 day later it still installed itself...... I do like the program though. CCLeaner used to be able to do all this as well but turned to subscription greed and is untrustworthy anymore.
I have a concern, after uninstalling Microsoft Edge I'm unable to access Realplayer premium of which I have a membership. Could installing Microsoft Edge have something to do with it? Note: I can downlaod videos via realplayer but with just the free version which is not the same as what I'm use to.
I had already uninstalled microsoft edge but it keeps coming back up when I click on a link. Watched your video, but there is no Microsoft Edge on the list. So, why when I click on a link it brings it up in Edge instead of GChrome.
I have Edge installed, I have it opened right now on another window but it's not showing up on Revo Uninstaller. I repaired it in the Add or Remove section and tried to see if it would pop up.. nope. Any known solution to this?
Hi Brian, welcome back from your holiday, hope you enjoyed it . You must have been using the Grey Cells whilst away to come back with another Video to rid Edge, 🙂 I have used the previous DOS method and it works fine so far, I will try this on another computer and post my comments, I am sure it will work fine. Thanks once more. PS, Does the Revo Uninstaller also remove other Apps ? Take care Buddy
Drop us a comment below and LIKE the video, it really helps. Thanks

All this just to uninstall a browse?! This is absurd.
I just noticed that MS just installed MS edge runtime (half a gig) on my system. What about that Brian ? Should I dump it ?
I don't think this works anymore, edge did not show up on the revo list
Same. Microsoft probably discovered what people were doing and made changes to thwart our efforts.
Thank you so much. Just started trying to get my head around Winn11 Pro. Excellent tutorial.
Thank you! I had to do some extra steps to get the Group Policy editor to show, but so far it seems to be working.
Thank You Thanks You !! saw your script video tried it :( THEN i saw Revo Vid.. Worked Perfect !!

What about 'Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime'? It is also showing up in Revo Uninstaller. Should this be uninstalled also? Thank you very much.
Thanx for the video. I always use Revo for uninstalling apps.
Glad to help
This did not work for me on my Win 10. Edge does not show up in the App list with Revo.
Hiya love your videos I would like to delete Microsoft Edge but it is not showing up in the list ? can you help
Hi,
Are you still successful in keeping it that way? Do you have your other system updates on?
Is there an update to this video?
if anyone else is having trouble deleting edgeupdate, look for it in task manager, then click "end task". from there it should work :]
I just unistalled it again with Revo and it has not come back yet. Its been 7 days. I dont get why it reinstalled. Once again thanx
Does this remove WebView2 also? And if it does and you need it for a diff program, can you just reinstall WebView2 by itself?
do i need to uninstall microsoft web viewer run time as well ?
Microsoft Edge doesn't show up in Revo Uninstaller...
Good video, and a beast of a thumbnail 👌
Glad you like it!
Hi. I have a problem. I removed the Microsoft Edge Browser from Windows 10 and the facebook messenger application no longer works. Do you have any idea what I could do? Thank you
Aside, should I download optional updates on Windows 10?
Thank you so much for this video 🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️❤️It was really helpful
You have Saved me a lot of stress
Hi, I have just done thins in windows10 , were there any extra steps that are needed on 10 ?
I ask because just noticed that you are use windows11
Also , at 6mins 17sec , the edge updater was still there on the vid . and on mine the updater and MSE is there and it says 11.3mb , though it has been uninstalled .
Nice Information,bro.
It's work for me.
Thank you so much.
At last it worked. Thank you very much!
Some people complained about the script, so I made this method.
tysm bro it was so annoying for that app to take up my space and eat my old pc ram
What browser do you use? Firefox or opera? Those eat less ram if you use chrome then it also eats a lot of ram, others are always on top!!
thanks for this in depth video, helped me out a tone, thanks again
