Imagine prior to 2009 telling someone that in a couple of years we'd have a licensed comic book game which will be one of the greatest games ever made.
I'm pretty sure they could buy it with Spider-Man 2 around. They just couldn't imagine it happening consistently or gaming companies WANTING more superhero games.

Rocksteady has changed the Superhero video games forever and made Batman awesome 🙂. I have enjoyed all their Batman games and you felt like Batman as the Detective he is and using his gadgets , Batmobile and use of Detective vision :)
Batman Arkham origins is an underrated Batman title. It featured some of the best boss fights in the entire franchise and some unforgettable moments. It is my 2nd most favorite Batman game after Arkham knight
I'll never understand the contempt for Batman Arkham Origins. Its my favorite in the series and its like the perfect game to play to get into the Christmas season spirit. 10/10 game
Maybe because Bruce Wayne/Batman wasn’t voiced by Kevin Conroy or the Joker wasn’t voiced by Mark Hamill. Or maybe it’s this they didn’t understand that Bruce Wayne/Batman’s voice was younger and him encountered and fighting against the Joker is still the origin story meaning it’s a prequel to Arkham Asylum, Arkham City (where the Joker finally died), and Arkham Knight.
The lego games were my childhood, but the arkham games, wow. They were Awesome. Arkham Origins and Knight are my favorite batman games, (actually took the time to 100% Knight, so many Riddler trophies) Nothing has come close to becoming my new favorite, but then again, Gotham Knights is coming out in the next few months so we'll see.
A long road indeed. Before Arkham Asylum the best Batman games were Batman: Vengeance, Batman Begins, and Lego Batman. Arkham Origins is underrated. Despite the mechanics needing some polish the story is excellent.
The Enemy Within is one of my favourite games of all time. Ingruber solidified himself as my favourite joker and one of the best written characters I’ve ever seen.
Batman Arkham Origins was my most favourite Batman games because the boss fights are challenging. Is making Batman to fight the villains at his level and above
The golden age of Batman games was 1990-1994, with the two Sunsoft NES games and the two Konami SNES games delivering excellent gameplay and gorgeous graphics. Things took a quick dive in 1995 with the adaptation of Batman Forever, and while there still were decent games in the following years, things didn't get fully back on track for over a decade. Then we received three solid titles in a row between 2008 and 2010: Lego Batman, Arkham Asylum, and The Brave and the Bold. The first two of these titles would spawn a succession of sequels that were also very well-received.
Arkham Series stealth and combat was the closest we can get to maximize batman skills but I'm not gonna complain if they will make the combat more technical and less of a button smash. I'd love to have more technical combat
Interesting thing is that the video game version of Batman Begins can be considered canon to the Arkham verse as it can be seen as a prequel to Arkham Origins.
As great as Asylum, City and Origins are, Arkham Knight took a few major steps back. So here is hoping someone can reinvision him in a new solo game soon.
Batman for NES, Batman Returns and The Adventures of Robin for SNES, and Batman Vengeance are criminally underrated. Especially The Adventures of Batman and Robin, what an amazing game.
They need to make a side scroller 1966 Batman game with 4K real image type graphics kinda like clay fighters ! But the screen would def have a 60s vibe to it ?
Weird that Batman and Robin was lumped in to the 2D games, since it was the first open world Batman game. It was atrocious and unplayable, but it should get that credit. Also, counting in another complaint about that Arkham Origins jab.
Why was Arkham Origins not included? It still is chronologically the first in the Arkham series being a prequel to Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight. And basically telling the origin story of Batman met and encountered Deadshot, Bane, Ridder, etc. And the Joker as well who had a bounty on his head and showing Batman wasn’t respected by the GCPD until they finally respected him. And in the DLC Cold, Cold Heart Batman met and encountered Mr. Freeze.
Seems like IGN always jumps on the bandwagon to just hating on something just because it wasn’t as well received as the other in the franchise. You better put some respect on Arkham Origin’s name, that game gave us some of the best boss fights in the franchise, something Arkham Knight failed miserably.
If it wasn't for 2008s TDK game getting cancelled and licencing permission getting passed on, the Arkham series wouldn't exist and we'd have had a Batman game made by EA Games. Yeah. You read that correctly... EA was the 2008s game creators take on making a Batman game, which would've badly flopped to the dumpsters faster than MGS: Survive did.
