The bass trombonist playing the Bb on the valve at the end of Tchaik 6 was a super interesting decision to me. I don't hate it either. It blended fairly well with the section, nice and warm.
At the end of that Tchaikovsky passage the bass trombone and tuba players nearly sucked all the air out of the room
