I'm not a boat guy but a gear head who has worked on many RVs, am a plumber by trade and spent two decades in the construction industry. And this is why I got sucked into the Nauti world.
To me the "look it's shiny and the cushions are lovely" doesn't register unless the bones of the thing are built well and to last. So yeah, I'm with you. The technical aspects (durability and serviceability) are much more important and stuff that's built to last just gets my attention. So details are where it's at. And these guys experience shows as they always focus on details. Cool stuff

The lowest unavoidable fixed bridge on the Great Loop is currently charted at 19.6’ and is located at mile 300.6 on the Illinois River. If you can clear 17’, you can cruise through downtown Chicago. In order to cruise the full-length (western half) of the Erie Canal, you must be able to clear a 15’ 6” fixed bridge. It is recommended that your boat not have a draft greater than 5’. However a draft of 4' or less is best. This boat hits all these points very nicely.

The choice to make the window fold rather than lift : so you can use the ladder down with the window open was a smart idea. Same with the rear doors folding rather than sliding so you can fully open it. Some sharp cookies designed this boat. I'd probably ditch the guest cabin for a larger master and put the washer dryer etc in the place where that berth was. Guests can get a hotel , I'll pick you up in the morning for a day on the water :P

The design and engineering are brilliant. A single operator or inexperienced boat owner could manage very safely. The fuel tanks on both sides give you stability in heavy seas or challenging conditions. Outback Yachts stepped outside the box and hit it out of the park.

It would be great for backing up close to islands. You could wade through a little water and step right onto the back of the boat. That makes it very convenient.
It could use some solar panels to run the refrigerators and keep the batteries charged. That would make it more self-sufficient.

Here in the PNW we've been fans of Outback Yachts for many years. This, however is indeed a whole new concept. I do like the openness of the interior and the crazy spacious aft deck area. That lifting ladder is brilliant! My single complaint is the forward location of the master cabin -- would prefer to have it located mid-ship where you'd feel less movement when at anchor in a rocky anchorage, with guest quarters in the bow. Lastly, I really like the placement of the engines aft -- much quieter underway and best of all, they did it without V drives :))

Small enough for Trent Severn lock 44 (look that up, it's amazing) yet large enough if lake Simcoe or Georgian Bay decide to get "nautical". Really well thought out setup.. Very interesting boat, some huge pluses. The very long aft deck is designed for holding a dinghy or kayaks, with simple, foolproof launching and hauling. If an owner does not want to store a tender there, I believe the Outback can be ordered with an extended deckhouse for increased interior room. I particularly like that the aft deck is totally covered by a long roof. Not a fan of the ladder to the bridge but I understand it allows terrific engine access. I would go with a slightly shorter port settee in the salon if that would permit a port door to the side decks for safer docking. Like so many boats with a forward main cabin, the Outback pinches the head of the berth. You have to want true togetherness with your partner's head to be OK with that compromise. Interesting to compare the Outback to the Krogen Express, a quite similar slender yacht that can cruise in the high teens with moderate power. Informative, thorough video as always.

I like this boat. It looks like a home, not a niche hotel lobby. I would have sent these name suggestions sooner but I have been a bit sickly of late (old guy stuff). I hope you are both healthy and happy. :) Duke ---AND NOW! /// SUNCHASER /// THE WOOFER and BASS /// SUNDANCER /// HIGHLANDER /// SEA CUP /// LACEY LEE, describes the wavelets on lee side of an island with sun on the horizon /// PRETTY BIRD /// THE TWO-CAN, describes you guys living your dreams together, a constant and pleasant reminder to you both of your love of one another. This one is my favorite...I am a romantic at heart.

You guys and all your complaining about hot weather: Soon, I am happy to say, I can finally join you! After a summer in Denmark with very modest temperatures (I had to turn on heating in July!), I am now selling all my gear, that I can not haul along with me on a backpack and next week my travels start in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Chennai even infamous in India for being a very hot place, I expect to finally see some real summer! I can not afford a boat unfortunately, but the next year I expect to be backpacking Asia. Nice boat for sure and good clean lines. I have to say though, looking at the accommodation below, I am even more impressed by German Sirius yachts and their 35DS and 40DS monohul sailboats, which offer more useful space than this 50 feet motor yacht. It really is incredible and you should check those out. Even the 35DS got a better second cabin, with full headroom at the end of the berths, midship and under the deck saloon essentially. It also got a man cave like that, which could be used as a laundry space or work space or even both. You should definitely check out those boats.

first? Love that foldable ladder. Releases space normally lost. The shape of this boat is very pleasing. The forward window that opens should be on all boats, not just catamarans (where it is becoming more common). The sliding door at the bridge does not impinge on the walkway. I like that is has a stern thruster. Just enough wood to be beautiful, without being dated. Cute pillow. I did not see a way to blackout the owner's cabin hatch. 1,200 NM range? Fabulous!

Thank you for the thorough tour. I am no boat expert, but this is a beautiful boat. It also is very well designed for best use of spaces and storage. It seems small but feels very large and comfortable. The views from all the doors and windows are amazing. I don't think any owner would feel the need to upgrade for a very long time unless they, somehow, improved on this.
