Thabiso, it will only be the future once Africa stops creating refugees, political exiles, economic migrants, stops brutality, repression, persecution and neglect of its own people. If Africa starts to attract back the Africans that fled the continent, then it can claim to be the future. Without these, it will remain a continent of the past. You cannot grow your country without the people's input..just look what happens when Africans flee the continent they thrive in the west and contribute because those countries function while Africa is dysfunctional. Nobody wants to leave, but one cant waste away waiting for Africa to change.

It warms my heart to see Rwanda move forward despite it's horrible past. There's an expression in western culture (that relates to the first Caesar), "Veni vidi vici." It ancient Latin, it translates to "I came, I saw, I conquered." if spoken in English today.
The women came, they saw, and they conquered despite all the odds against them. I have deep respect for the women of that country. History will remember their strength and kindness, and their ability to conquer evil!

Rwanda beats everyone in pro people development but development without Human rights is not development at all. Getting a political dissident and shooting him in his cell is an indication of a regime thats afraid of its people. If Rwanda stops the persecution of its political dissidents and ensures equitable sharing of power among Hutus, Tutsis and Twa. Rwanda will be the best country on earth.

    • @kasikwagoma6740

Mubiru Nyago, South Korea did not begin as a western style democracy. They were concentrating first on development which they did. It was once poorer than Ghana, yet today look where they are, I am using a Samsung phone to respond to you which is South korean. I do not like brutality or repression, but I am beginning to have my doubts about the level of human rights abuses in Rwanda, because it is now just bordering on anti tutsi hatred and bigotry. Also the perpetrators of the bloody genocide that played right into the argument held all over the world by anti black bigots who have always argued that we behave like animals. It really shamed us a people and you know I have met Africans who don't like hutus because they argue that they are born killers who cannot be trusted. It shocked me... But you see democracy can't even solve the many problems I am witnessing in the west like homelessness, high poverty levels, badly constructed mouldy and damp social housing etc. China is an avowed communist state that doesn't even allow any other party, yet many Chinese are very prosperous the west stopped shouting about democracy to them because it has become too powerful for them to bully them. Rwanda us tiny and easy to bully so they scream human rights abuses, they can't do anything to China, not even invading it. They just shout ftom the sidelines and China won't budge.

Women aim for long peace and with that comes long conflict when conflict finally comes. That is when politics (such as that with quotas for gender in seats) no longer has stayed effective for peace. Then other options are considered such as diplomatic marriages between countires. Rwanda however does not recognise dual citizenship. The Rwanda diaspora (Tutsi essentially because of the conflict) who either have moved out of Rwanda (or will move out of Rwanda) are more likely to be the women who will make for diplomatic marriages that can solve or at least stave off conflict. This is because a woman of Rwanda who is now a citizen instead of another country (say for example USA or europe/Britain) can marry a man from that foreign country but can then become pregnant of his child and give birth to that child in Rwanda. So for female politicians to be as effective in a place like Rwanda, they would not be dismissive of that option and as such would have daughters _(so multiple Rwanda women leave to that Western nation of USA/Europe/etc. as to become pregnant mothers and then give birth to those daughters in Rwanda and then those daughters grow up and become female politicians)._ That is very limited however it can be argued that it is specialised as an approach. The dual-nationality of another place (like say the Great Britain) is more generalist a option for fertility in diplomacy (like diplomatic marriages). Rwanda is sort of like a soft-currency effect but with a few key specialist ways of doing so, and as such is exclusive if done right. The DRC (Congo) has become part of the East-Africa trade-bloc. So, Rwanda, do that. Get in touch.
    (quote bbc news world-africa-60901159)
_Congolese lawmakers still have to ratify the EAC laws and regulations before they come into effect._
_Congolese citizens wishing to visit the other member countries - Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda - without a visa may need to wait a little longer because full integration into the EAC could take months or even a year._
    (end quote)
Rwanda does not have nuclear weapons and as such that means their defense mechanism are troops. Again that is an avenue for a long conflict model. They are landlocked although they do have sort of river access for small things to the sea if for some reason they did not want to use land to go to the sea. Prostitution follows military throughout human history and, for multiple reasons _(morale, troop detection, disease, information spearding)_ it is is a military and strategy weakness. Banning rape really just recognises the severity of what is an what is not a crime and consent. Being strongly allied with a nuclear power nation (weapons) reduces troop dependence. It need not always be the home-team troops but it can be the opponent-troops prostitution follows _(but either way, it is troops prostitution follows)._ Banning everything is not a strategy. For example banning nuclear weapons and yet relying on troops _(maybe one side or maybe the opponent side)_ and then knowing the prostitution and rape correlations makes the rape severity laws less effective than having an option to not always need troops (nuclear deterent). These words are not about singling out particular troops (one side or another) but instead simply about talking of technology (such as nuclear) in combinations of what are possibilities in practice.
Reasons women might come over to the West include training (via private company investment) such as for ecology or healthcare (midwifery or dentistry, etc.) especially for language training (english) such as for tourism (be it safari or otherwise). It is better than just "giving women a thing" (as it is investment for expectation to use the skills). An example might be ecological usage of zinc mining whereby the zinc is used in diesel made from plastics. Rwanda banned plastic bags for example.
My comment has no hate in it and I do no harm. I am not appalled or afraid, boasting or envying or complaining... Just saying. Psalms23: Giving thanks and praise to the Lord and peace and love.

Democracy is a completely bogus system, it does not address the need for Afrikans to develop their own curriculum of our own personal understanding of our environment and does not have all citizens participating in research and development as human existence demands. Afrikans countries have remained capitalist and colonialist, catering only to insecure, polygamist Afrikan men with no plan to share the environment with others.
